Re-entering the busy chamber after a brief intermission for the duelists to recuperate, Katherine gestured again for the two combatants to take their places on opposite ends of the platform. There was no need for another run down on the rules at this point, since both parties had overcome one opponent already. Stepping away from the platform as soon as the professors were in position, the Headmistress took her place on a further elevated podium, and raised her hands for attention. "Duelists, prepare yourselves." The woman called, allowing the two a moment to bow. "Commence."

Kahurangi wasn't entirely sure how she had made it through the first round of duels. Her skills were beyond rusty and she had expected to be taken out immediately. She wasn't going to let the victory take her off her guard though, she felt that she had gotten this far mostly on luck, and knew she couldn't rely on that to carry her through. Bowing to her opponent before the duel began, she ran through the strategies she had practiced in her mind once more. As soon as they were called on to begin Kahurangi struck quickly, not wanting to give Aeon the chance to make the first move. "Langlock!" She cast, hoping the strategy of silencing her opponent that had won her the last match would at least give her an upper hand here.

Aeon thought he had done pretty well on his last duel, and it had surprised him given how long his last duel had been. The animagus was feeling confident, but that confidence was short lived as after bowing, it was Kahurangi who managed to cast a spell first. The wizard had been the first to make a move in his last duel, and had hoped for a repeat this time. The spell that had been about to escape his lips before he realised he was too slow quickly switched to an abrupt "Protego!", conjuring a shield in time to repel the tongue-tying curse. Deciding to go with a similar tactic he had used against Warrick, Summers countered with a transfiguration spell, attempting to transform the woman's hands into squid tentacles.

Kahurangi had been prepared for her spell to be blocked, and followed it up quickly by throwing up her own shield to block Aeon's counter. "Protego!" She cast, quickly blocking her opponent's spell. As she did she ran through her mental list of things she had practiced for the duel, selecting a response in her mind. "Stupefy!" She cast back at him, hoping to catch her opponent off guard.

Again, Aeon threw up another magical barrier, deflecting the jet of red light that Kahurangi had sent his way. Every second mattered here, and there was always a brief moment where he thought he had been too slow. "Duro!" Summers cast at his opponents clothing in an effort to bind her in stone. He hadn't varied much from the Transfiguration spells he'd used in his last duel, but then again, he couldn't count the amount of times he'd seen someone resort to a stunning spell either, so he couldn't feel too disappointed by his own lack of versatility.

Kahurangi had never been much for duelling in her own student days, but her reflexes were sharp from rugby, and when she saw Aeon's next spell heading her way her instinct to shift out of the way was quick enough to avoid the spell. Aiming quickly in the hopes of catching Aeon's defenses down she cast her next spell while still moving, keeping focused on her goal. "Expelliarmus!"

The hardening spell failed to hit its mark as Aeon had hoped, instead changing a wall sconce on the opposite side of the chamber to stone. Kahurangi was difficult to keep his wand trained on as she moved, and trying to reposition his aim wasted valuable time that would have been spent muttering another shield charm. Instead, the man non-verbally conjured a physical, circular shield in between himself and the spell's path. The disarming charm ricocheted off of the metal, and as the shield clattered to the floor, Summers stepped forward to give it a solid kick, sending it spinning across the platform toward his opponent. With another wave of his wand, he transfigured the inanimate object into an angry skunk, which reared its backside in preparation to spray the woman with its unpleasant and blinding smell.

Kahurangi hadn't expected the physical attack, but she was already starting to shift out of the way of Aeon's shield when she saw it change form suddenly. She couldn't quite hold back a laugh, quickly trying to figure out what to do. Targeting the animal instead of her opponent seemed unnecessary, but she didn't want the smell distracting her, and the thought quickly flashed into her mind to cast a bubble head charm, which she did quickly, trying to keep her focus on Aeon. Any bad smell was his problem now. Trying to regroup and collect herself she sent a tripping jinx his way, trying to stay focused on the duel.

Transfiguring the shield into a skunk proved to be a bad idea overall, as just the mere smell of it had him gagging. It was too bad he hadn't known earlier that the scent could carry for miles on a downward wind, so being meters away from it was far from a pleasant experience. The wizard was honestly impressed by Kahurangi's quick thinking with the bubble-head charm, but he didn't have time to cast one of his own before a spell was flying his way. He opened his mouth to incant another shield spell, but the foul odour left him coughing too much to verbalise it, and he suddenly found himself stumbling to the floor from the trip jinx. His grip on his wand reflexively tightened, terrified of dropping it and ending the duel then and there. With a groan, the wizard sat back up and covered his mouth and nose with the sleeve of his robes, and used his wand to non-verbally cast another transfiguration spell to try transform the woman into a badger.

The bubble around Kahurangi's head was a little distracting, but based on her opponent's reaction it was nowhere near as distracting as the smell she had narrowly avoided. She was pleasantly surprised to see her spell land, though she felt a little bad about bringing Aeon even closer to the skunk's level. Kahurangi didn't let her guard down though, quickly casting a shield charm to defend against her opponent's next attack. Since Aeon's distraction seemed to have worked in her favour she tried to keep her tactics in the same line, hoping to confuse and distract him enough that she could win the duel. "Confundo!" She cast, voice echoing around her bubble.

Aeons eyes were starting to water from the sheer stink, but the animagus knew he couldn't let himself lose over a smell. As a dog, he'd smelled worse, or so he told himself now to try convince his mind it wasn't nearly as bad as it was. From his low position, Summers had less of his body to cover, and as his opponent fired a Confundus spell toward him, he conjured a rippling transparent shield to defend himself. As soon as the shield dispersed, he rose to his feet and incanted another spell, aiming at the slightly blurred shape that was Kahurangi, obscured behind his watery vision. "Apis!" He called, conjuring a thick swarm of bees from the top of his wand, and toward the woman, their aggressive buzzing filling the dueling chamber as each popped into existence.

Kahurangi had been prepared to shield if her Confundus Charm hadn't worked, but she hadn't been prepared to be defending against a swarm of bees instead of a spell. Heart racing, she hurriedly cast the first spell which came to mind, creating a wall of flames between herself and the bees. Although it worked defensively, Kahurangi realised too late that the flames made it near impossible to see her opponent. Aiming roughly for where she thought Aeon was standing, Kahurangi decided not to use anything too aggressive, in case her aim was off. "Expelliarmus!" She cast again, hoping that her shot would be lucky.

The bees were short-lived, the swarm immediately incinerated by the wall of fire. On the plus side, the smoke rising from the flames helped to mask the previous scent of skunk spray. On the other hand however, it did make Kahurangi a lot more difficult to see. Aeon heard the woman's shout and instinctively ducked down low to avoid it, hearing it whizz by a little overhead and to the left. For a moment he thought that could have been it, not knowing exactly where the spell could come from was extremely difficult to defend against. Straightening back up, the wizard decided to deal with the flames, and potentially Kahurangi herself in the same go. Rotating his wand in a circular motion, Summers conjured up a small whirlwind, which paved a path through the flames, snuffing a direct line out through the direction he thought the disarming charm had come from. If he could knock his opponent off with the force of the wind, that would be a bonus, but at least for now he'd be able to see her.

In her struggles to cast through the flames, Kahurangi had realised belatedly that it also made it near-impossible to defend against spells, when she had no idea where they were coming from. She braced herself, preparing to shield, but nothing could have prepared her for the blast of air Aeon hit her with. The hit felt like a rugby tackle and she went down fast, doing her best after she hit the ground to roll into a position where she could retaliate. "Petrificus Totalus!" She cast, trying not to think about the nasty bruise she was bound to have once the duel was over.

For a moment Summers thought he'd done it, that he'd won his second round, but Kahurangi was resilient. This was a lot more challenging than his last duel had been. "Protego!" The wizard incanted, bouncing the petrification spell away from himself with another magical shield. "Toadus!" He continued immediately, targeting the woman with a quick, slightly cliche but classic toad transformation spell. Really living up to the muggle expectation of witches and wizards.
