Entering the busy chamber, which was already filled with students whom had gathered to watch their favourite, or least favourite professors duel, Katherine gestured for the two combatants to take their places on opposite ends of the platform, and took a moment to explain the rules set in place, out of a formality more than anything by this stage. Enough duels had taken place in the school for its staff to be aware of how it worked by now. Katherine did her best not to feel biased toward one staff member being victorious over any other, but in this instance where her own son was involved, a part of her wanted to see him come out on top. Stepping away from the platform, the Headmistress took her place on a further elevated podium, and raised her hands for attention. "Duelists, prepare yourselves." The woman called, allowing the two a moment to bow. "Commence."

Ensure you have read the Duelling Points and Duelling Rules topics before posting. The Acceptable Spells By Year topic may also be useful for ideas and guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Below is a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, disarmed or otherwise incapacitated and unable to cast any more spells with a wand, you lose. If you run out of points, you also lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post within the next 24 hours, they are disqualified.

It had been a long, long time since Aeon had last dueled anyone. The Transfiguratioj professor had participated in his fair share of dueling tournaments in his youth, and had been a member of the Student Defense Association, but that had been well over a decade ago. The last time he had come close to magical combat was the food fight some time back, where a Gryffindor prefect had disarmed him whilst he was under the guise of a student. He hadn't exactly tried to defend himself then, but he thought that even if he had, he still wouldn't have been fast enough. At least now, face to face with one of his colleagues, he was ready for it. Aeon bowed, and as he drew back up and the duel was announced to commence, he found himself being the first to cast. Waving his wand toward Ryder, the animagus incanted a transfiguration spell to change the other mans hands into crab claws, and sent it flying across the platform. The jelly-fingers jinx had nothing on him.

Ryder went through the pleasantries of starting the duel and went to his start point. He cast a protego to block Aeon's spell and fired his own disarming charm.

Summers casted up his own shielding charm to deflect away Warricks disarming spell, watching the jet of red light harmlessly fizzle away. As the shield spell faded, the animagus casted Incarcerous, conjuring thick ropes in an attempt to bind his opponent.

Ryder cast a shielding charm to block the Transfiguration professor's attempts to bind him. The ropes bounced off and disappeared. Ryder raised his wand again to fire a stinging hex at the man.

Aeon was rusty from all the years spent not practicing anything combat related. His eyes had been trained on the ropes, rather than his opponent, and when they were cast aside he'd been too slow to refocus his attention back to the other professor. Without time to create another barrier, Aeon threw up his free arm instead in an attempt to shield his face, and was quickly met with a painful stinging sensation on his skin. It wasn't the worst spell in the world to be hit by, and despite the pain he was grateful it hadn't been his and arm that had taken the brunt of the spell. Lowering his injured limb, the animagus retaliated with a quick Duro, aimed toward Warrick's torso, in an effort to transform his clothing into stone and immobilize him.

Ryder was glad to see he managed to hit Aeon with his stinging jinx but was disappointed it didn't slow the man down. He had to act quickly to shield himself from having his clothes turned to stone and managed to fire a stunning charm at the Transfiguration professor. Dueling wasn't his strong suit and he would soon run out of ideas.

The longer the duel went on, the more competitive Aeon realised he felt. As someone who had been a relatively decent dueler in his youth, he wanted to win even after all of this time spent not practicing anything other than Transfiguration and the more mundane, daily charms and spells. The animagus shielded himself from the oncoming stunning spell, and fired back with a canary transfiguration spell.

Ryder thought it was strange that Aeon was resorting to using Transfiguration spells in a duel but he didn't want to find out what would happen if one of them hit him. Ryder used a shielding charm to block the spell and cast a disarming charm back.

Come on. Summers thought to himself as Ryder blocked his spell, frustrated that none of them had been successful so far. After taking a hit by the stinging hex, he'd been hoping to get even with the man. The animagus blocked the incoming disarming spell, just barely, and fired back with another partial transfiguration, this time in an attempt to turn the man's hands into hooves.

The continued use of transfiguration spells were bugging Ryder, he wasn't exactly sure what the man was aiming for by casting them. He used the shielding charm to block his latest attempt and fire another stunning spell at the Transfiguration professor.

Summers managed to block the incoming spell a little easier than the last, inwardly critical of the lack of spell versatility. Deciding not to use another transformation, the animagus instead casted an animation spell in order to bring Ryder's clothing to life, and restrict or otherwise stop him from casting another spell by controlling his movements. The idea had sprung from a vague memory of a movie he'd once seen while on a Disney binge, Bedknobs and Broomsticks or something similar, where a witch had enchanted clothing to fight. Muggles really did have some creative ideas.
