Staff Dueling - Round #1, Match #1

Entering the busy chamber, which was already filled with students whom had gathered to watch their favourite, or least favourite professors duel, Katherine gestured for the two combatants to take their places on opposite ends of the platform, and took a moment to explain the rules set in place, out of a formality more than anything by this stage. Enough duels had taken place in the school for its staff to be aware of how it worked by now. One of the school's librarians going up against a History of Magic professor was interesting, in that neither position was notable for its wandwork, so there was no telling whom would be the likely victor, or what their capabilities were. Stepping away from the platform, the Headmistress took her place on a further elevated podium, and raised her hands for attention. "Duelists, prepare yourselves." The woman called, allowing the two a moment to bow. "Commence."

Matt wasn't sure what had made him sign up for this tournament. It had seemed like a fun idea, but now that he was standing here on the platform he felt nervous in a way he hadn't since his student days. He glanced at the noisy audience of students, smiling slightly when he spotted his daughter waving some sort of glittery handmade sign. Of course she was supporting him. Somehow, that only made this more nerve-wracking. HIs opponent wasn't a fellow Professor but one of the librarians. He had no real idea how good she would be at magic, but he knew better than to underestimate someone because of their job. After bowing, he pointed his wand at the younger blonde woman. "Confundo!" He shouted, figuring that confusing her would probably give him the upper hand pretty quickly.
