Scorching heat beat down on the swamplands. No rain mixed with a hazy sheen from the heat and water caused anyone nearby to be instantly miserable if their blood was too thick. Bane Wright paced his living room his boots clunking along the wood plank floors. He was becoming impatient. Up early that morning he had nothing to do except write in his logs.

A loud peal of thunder jerked his head up. His brown eyes brightened. Brief knock at the door and he opened it quickly.

Cecily shrunk her packed bags and put them in her pocket. After checking that all her arrangements were firmly in place, she disapparated from school grounds. She apparated onto her grandfathers land. Happy yet disoriented from traveling such a long distance she nonetheless pushed through the dizziness and ran up the steps to knock on the door. It opened and there he was.

She rushed up and with a laugh threw her arms around his neck. She enthusiastically kissed his cheek. "How are you granddad?"

Bane buried his nose in her hair and hugged her with his big arms. When Cecily came to visit it was like reversing time. Pain, bitterness melted away to be replaced by his love for his only grandchild. He squeezed her tight then released her, holding her at arms length. "You're too pale," he chided. She looked thinner than the last time he'd seen her with dark smudges under her eyes as if she hadn't been sleeping well.

"Come inside."

Cecily stood there with her lips slightly pursed from holding in laughter at his perusal of her self. It was a balm to her heart to be with him and know just how far they'd come in their relationship that he would actually fuss over her. "Yes granddad," she smiled, going inside. She knew he wasn't fooled by acquiescence. They had had many heated 'debates' during her visits. It would always end with one or both of them quite sloshed. His firewhiskey was unlike any she'd ever tasted. Homemade and would kick a full grown rugby player on their arse.

"So what've you got planned for us today?" She unshrunk her bags and levitated them into the room she stayed in. Turning back, she took out another small item and unshrunk it. Without words, she handed the bag to him with a broad smile.

"Thought we'd go to the beach." Actually he'd had plans for them to visit with the tribes members but knew it could wait. They were expected sometime during her visit and weren't tied down to a day. Seeing how tired she looked their plans flipped.

Chuckling he accepted the bag and looked inside. A large assortment of wizarding candies, perfect for his sweet tooth. He kissed her forehead in thanks and gave her a knowing look. "Go and change and I'll grab our supplies."

Cecily laughed and went to her room. Shutting the door, she turned to her bed and unzipped her bag. Moments later she was in her bathing suit, cover up and had her hair wrapped up in a kerchief. Sunscreen applied she was out the door and met her grandfather who was standing near the door. "Ready!" She was excited to spend a whole day at the beach. She loved the talks they had.

Bane nodded. Girl wasted no time he smirked. He'd shrunk a basket laden with food, drinks, blanket and towels. He held out his arm for her to take.

She grabbed his arm with a smile and with a crack they were off.
