Something New

Darcy was extremely nervous for tonight and she was currently trying not to show it. The entire time she had gotten ready for the evening, she contemplated faking an illness and not going, but that wouldn't be fair to her date. It wasn't as if she didn't like Olivia - she did, a lot - but this would be the first time she would be publicly be so...open about herself and she was afraid of what that would entail. She wished she still had her best friend to help her navigate through such a terrifying time in her life, but she didn't want to dwell on that tonight. Instead she would try to have a good time after coming out to herself, she deserved it. In the end, Darcy slipped on her lace-backed dress and finished the last touches of her messy braid and headed up to the Great Hall's entrance where she would be meeting Olivia.

Olivia has been looking forward to the Yule ball ever since Halloween because she was excited at the idea of going with Darcy. It was strange how everything had happened so quickly but she was enjoying getting to know the Slytherin, and weirdly her sister who she was tutoring. The Ravenclaw stood in front of the mirror for the longest time fidgeting with her dress, she wanted to look perfect for her date but her dress wasn't cooperating. Finally she was happy with enough that she was ready to leave and made her way to the Great hall. She saw Darcy waiting for her as she made her way down the stairs, she blushed as she checked the girl out. She was stunning, and for the night at least, she was all hers. "Darcy!" Olivia squealed as she made her way over to her date and threw her arms rpund her neck. "You look beautiful," She whispered in Darcy's ear with a giggle.

Darcy kept fidgeting with the small clutch she had in her hands until she heard her name being called. She looked up to see Olivia coming towards her and smiled from ear to ear at the sight of the girl. She chuckled and hugged the girl back, feeling the butterflies in her stomach act up again as Olivia complimented her. Although they were still getting to know each other, Darcy could tell she was really starting to like her. "Thank you," she replied, "You look amazing," she said, blushing lightly as she checked the girl out. It felt rather forward of her but she didn't care because Olivia did look great and she didn't want to shy away from that. "Shall we?" she said, holding out her arm for the girl to take so they could go in and dance already.
