So It Burnt Down

Harrington had worked in the theater industry for a long time. Since he was a kid, really. But, after finding that he did not like the attention or work of an actor, he switched to something subtler - special effects. He loved his job - and he got to work with his lovely cousin. It was the best job. He just got to mess around backstage, cast a few spells here and there, and hang out with his cousin all day. However, it was not all sunshine and rainbows. Harrington chewed on his lower lip as the director continued to reprimand him. Today, Harrington had accidentally set light to a curtain. It wasn't anything major - just that they needed to get another curtain. Honestly, he had no idea why the director was so made over it, but he was, and he knew that it was best to not argue the point with him. It could have been so much worse. If he had not have acted quickly, the entire theater could have gone down. How made would he have been then? Harry doubted he would still be alive if he had of done more damage to the theater than a bit of scolding here and a little fine cooking there. "It was only a curtain..." he said innocently, shifting his weight from foot to foot. It was all easily replaceable anyway. The director had to take a chill-pill.

Harry, after the director finished ripping him a new one, went to go get something to eat. After standing there for ten minutes being abused, food was something he needed right now. And a drink, but that had to wait. He sighed as he grabbed a pastie, and sat down on a prop lounge, putting his feet up on a table and relaxing his body. Upon seeing his cousin creep back into sight (along with the rest of the cast, who had all bolted as soon as the yelling started) he waved her over, and patted the seat beside him. "Hey," he said, giving her a weak grin. "I nearly got fired. What's up?"

Joan could barely believe it. She had worked in the industry for many years, since she was able to walk. She had never wanted to be an actress or a creator, she had always much preferred to work behind the scenes. That was where the real challenge lay. Special Effects had seemed like the perfect place for her really. She was great with Charms and she was really quick on her feet. She was raised in this environment. Her mother was an actress and her father of course was a Producer, her younger sister was also an actress and her elder brother was now in directing, it was a family business, one that she had always expected to continue. Even her cousins were in it, Harrington even worked with her. They got along quite well luckily and they were two of a team of four special effects whiz's. Harrington's speciality was fire or explosions, whereas, Joan was much more adept at making Potions and regular charms. She was branching out recently, but that was okay, she was late in doing so really. As it was, Joan was currently hiding around the corner from the theatre. Her cousin had somehow managed to set the place alight and he was now in quite the deep hole. Joan and the others had legged it out of there the minute Harry had stopped the fire's spread, but that didn't matter, they all knew he was in strife, so they didn't want to be involved.

The Director was notorious for taking things much further, not to mention his short fuse and yelly personality. Joan thought he had been a director for too long, he yelled far too much for her liking really. There was a time when Joan looked up to him, but that was when she had first started out as a fully established witch, now-a-days she really disliked him and would have preferred he leave them alone. Soon Joan and the rest of the cast and crew returned to the theatre. On her way back she managed to get her hands on a soda and took a sip before spotting Harry on one of the prop lounges. She made her way over to him and sat on the edge. She shook her head at him as she handed him her drink. "You're lucky he didn't kill you." He had caused many people to quit over the years, he had quite the reputation amongst the entertainment industry. "You could have seriously injured someone, Harry, what were you thinking?"
