The Yule Ball was something Lilyanna Hope had been dreading since coming to Hogwarts. She knew that she could easily just not show up but many people, including her parents, had told her that it would be a great experience. Truthfully, Lilyanna was going to use it as a time to try and take her mind off of all the work she had done that semester but she always thought about school wherever she went and she was sure that tonight was going to be no different. Cautiously, Lilyanna entered the Great Hall to only see that it didn't look like the great hall at all and magic had made it look like a completely different place. Wherever Lilyanna looked there were people dancing and lots of opportunities to eat. It all seemed very overwhelming for her but she was willing to last as long as she could so she wouldn't miss out if something interesting were to happen.

Making her way over to the nearest table at the side of the room she sat down and took her beanie off before fixing up her hat hair. She didn't really know why she chose to wear a beanie in the summer but had thought that it went well with her sparkly blue and white dress. Lilyanna wasn't much into fashion though so perhaps it was the wrong idea. She buried her head into her hands, quite exasperated already with the loud music that was blazing around her. It was only then that she realised that nothing about being surrounded by a bunch of happy party-goers was interesting and Lilyanna had no idea why she even bothered to show up in the first place. She looked around to try and find her sister but she was nowhere to be seen. She had probably already found her group of friends while Lilyanna sat alone at the table, re-thinking whether or not the decision to show up was a great one after all.

Firmiana was not happy when her uncle dump her into this school and now he's dumping her for the holiday break. The only living relative she knows had told her to stay in the castle on a letter with a big dress box and inside it was the most stunning light blue cocktail dress. Though, it was still unfair that she couldn't see them together, at least know who her cousins are. Holidays at the orphanage was more fun than here. Firmiana sigh as she looked at the dress still in its box, there's a party tonight and I have no choice but to go or else I might get depress she thought to herself. The saddest thing about her is having no friends, the first half of the school year has already gone by and she still sulk around.

Picking up the dress her uncle or aunt bought, she got dress into it and starred at the full body mirror at their dorm. Firmiana's long red hair curly and bouncing around then she wore the only pair of shoes she has, the pair came from Dr. Jenkins back when she was still at the orphanage. Ready, she cautiously went down to the common room where she saw no one, a sigh of relief came out of her mouth and continued out of the common room. Firmiana doesn't think that her school mates ever saw her dress like this before because she was shy almost like an old person when dressing.

She finally came up at the Great Hall, the young Slytherin was in awe and she can't help it that she spin slowly to look every direction. Nonetheless her hatred over this school, it still makes her drop her jaw. A small smile appeared on her lips as she surveyed the dance floor, couples dancing, Firmiana was getting envy at the thought and panned her gaze into an almost empty table except a girl, guessing her age about the same as her, was sitting alone. The Slytherin girl decided to talk to her and started to walk to her direction. "Not enjoying the party?" Firmiana asked while she sat down at a chair next to the girl even without asking. It was obvious though that the girl was alone and wasn't sharing the table to anyone.

Lilyanna sat alone and watched as everyone danced around and were having a great time. She still couldn't spot her sister anywhere and was considering standing up and having a look for her herself before leaving the party early. Lilyanna wasn't really into parties and it was very obvious considering she was so alone at a single table. She liked being alone though and felt quite happy just sitting with no one's company but her own. Sometimes Lilyanna's own company was better than other people's. She didn't really like many people anyway and would trade anything to just live in the world alone without anyone to tell her what to do. Being a leader was always Lilyanna's favourite job and she couldn't do that if other people were bossing her around.

Lily was quite taken aback when a girl who looked about her age decided to join her without any permission. Truthfully, she felt quite offended. Didn't she have any friends that she could join? Or did she simply just feel sorry that she was on her own? Whatever it was, Lilyanna was already not enjoying her presence. "Actually, I rather enjoy watching random people I don't know dance." she replied sarcastically, not taking her eye off of the people. Suddenly, the music changed to a slow pace and Lilyanna watched as couples came together and met each other in the middle, some attempting to snog and move side by side at the same time. Rolling her eyes, she looked away and began twiddling her thumbs, not really wanting to pay much attention to the newcomer. Socialising was definitely not one of her best talents.

The red head Slytherin was taken aback when the other girl said a sarcastic remark. Firmiana knew that somehow, she's going to meet someone here that are snob but that isn't going to stop her from making friends. She can be as annoying when determined. "I'm sorry that you're not enjoying the ball the same as I do. I don't know everyone here as well and I just force myself to come." Firmiana apologized and explained her part. The red head thought that this will be her first Christmas out of the orphanage but, in fact, still feels like she never left the big house.

"I'm Firmiana by the way." She introduce herself to her and started to survey the Great Hall again. The dim light from the slow dance lifted to brightness when a fast song boom the enchanted speakers. Firmiana looked back at the girl again. Her face familiar. Where have I seen her before? She asked herself. To be honest, Firmiana wasn't the type of girl who makes eye contact with anyone including adults. Her head is always down except at the girls dormitory because she always see and hear her roommates giggle about boys and stuff she's not interested on. "Hah! I remember you. Aren't you a Slytherin, too?" She asked. It was her gut talking and Firmiana was just confirming it

Lilyanna was so surprised with how patient this girl was. Usually whenever people saw that Lilyanna wasn't the nicest of the bunch they'd just get up and leave, not wanting to have anything to do with her anymore. But this girl was different and it confused Lilyanna as to why she was still there. "What makes you think I don't know anyone here?" she replied, quickly snapping at the girl. Lilyanna knew her sister was there somewhere but she just couldn't find her. The girl shouldn't be so quick to judge. Just because Lilyanna was sitting there alone it didn't mean she didn't have any friends. Tholomyes was her only friend at Hogwarts so far and perhaps he was at the Ball too? Although, it wouldn't really seem likely for him to come and Lilyanna didn't even know why she was there in the first place.

"Lilyanna Hope." Lilyanna replied, nodding at the red haired girl who just introduced herself as Firmiana. Their names were similar so hopefully neither of them should be forgotten. Lilyanna sat there in silence, looking out into the crowd, still considering whether or not she should get up and look for her sister. Firmiana probably wasn't the only one at the school who thought Lilyanna had no friends so she should most likely want to go and make some. But socializing was not Lilyanna's thing, not because she was a nervous speaker but because she didn't like many people and they never usually liked her back. Tholomyes was the only one that actually understood her and she couldn't be more thankful for that.

Lilyanna's thoughts came to a standstill when Firmiana burst out a question. What did she mean too!? It was hard to believe that the talking girl next to her was a Slytherin and it was also hard to believe that people actually noticed her around the school. Lilyanna liked to keep herself low-profile and it seemed like she wasn't doing a very good job in doing so. "Yes, I'm a Slytherin. Where do you remember me from?." she asked out of curiosity, now looking directly at the girl. There was something peculiar about her that Lilyanna just couldn't put her finger on.
