Sixth Years: Lesson Three

Despite not having any major, soul-crushing exams to cover this year, Angel's sixth years were definitely his busiest class, wasting no time covering more plants even part way through the semester.

"Alright folks, I've got another treat for you back in the Dangerous Plants Greenhouse so let's hop to it," Angel said, clapping his hands together and motioning the class to follow him back out to the Dangerous Plants Greenhouse. "You guys know the drill, hands to yourself, be nice to the plants, stick with the group yada yada," Angel said as he lead the class into the greenhouse and further into the back, past the Devil's Snare to their plant for the day.

Now this beauty here is the Snargaluff,” he said, stopping and motioning to the enclosed plant that looked not too dissimilar to a dead tree stump. “Looks pretty harmless, right? But it’s in here for a reason. The Snargaluff is a carnivorous plant, sometimes known for being a man-eater, and is an ambush predator. Once its unsuspecting prey approaches, it sends out spiny vines to ensnare it,” he said, miming the creeping vines and enjoying watching some of the student’s reactions as he played up the drama.

Now, unfortunately for any budding young herbologist, Snargaluff pods are quite useful, so you’ve got to deal with the aforementioned vines to get them. Definitely not something to be done alone. Here, take a look.” With a flick of his wand, Angel carefully levitated a discarded twig near the snargaluff, flinching with the class when the the Snargaluff made short work of it, its brambly vines snapping out of almost nowhere, shredding the twig and slapping furiously against the protective screen. “Woof, see that?” He said with a giddy giggle, quietly thankful the screen had held year after of doing this. “Anyone manage to spot the pods too? Look kinda like big green grapefruit things.” Now that the threat had been dealt with, the vines quickly retreated, leaving the plant looking once again like a harmless log. “Now uh, perhaps we should call it a day there. You’re all welcome to look around a bit, just again, don’t touch anything. I’m not responsible for any lost limbs, alright?

RP the lesson. Feel free to hang out in the greenhouse, just try to keep your hands to yourself.

The dangerous plants greenhouse was exactly how Aura imagined it would be, icky. She felt like they definitely didn’t clean in here enough which she supposed made sense since it was called the dangerous plants greenhouse probably because of the dangerous plants inside it but she could have been wrong of course. So maybe don’t quote her. She looked over at the Snargaluff with some side eye, wondering how Professor Castillo had managed to keep all of his limbs intact, unless one of those limbs was actually a fake, she would never have known honestly. She jumped back slightly when the vines of the thing whipped out and shredded the stick like it owed it money or something. “Yeesh, someone’s touchy,” she muttered under her breath, glancing at Teddy. “It saw your face,” she told him, before turning back to the lesson to see what they would be expected to do today. She lingered with the group as they watched the plant do its thing and then when the class was dismissed she headed out, shaking her head.

Callie walked into the herbology greenhouse but she wasn’t sitting for long before the professor got started. She with the rest of the class were led out of the room and into one of the other greenhouses, past the devil’s snare from the previous lesson, and to where there was a seeming a dead tree stump. She nodded thinking that it looked harmless but knew better when it came to plants in this place. She listened to what the professor was saying, watching as the plant came to live and took notes from what he said about them. She nodded spotting the pods and took down what the professor said. With that the lesson was wrapped up and she packed up her things and headed out of the room.

Enoch waked into the herbology greenhouse and took the same spot in the room as the week before. He glanced at the professor as the man got started on what they would be covering within the lesson. He took the time to get up and follow the rest of the class out of the room and to where they’d be able to just see the plant. He knew what it was pretty quickly and then was able to watch it in action before the professor let them leave the room. Enoch packed up his things and headed out of the room.

Lucy arrived promptly, but as she started to pull out her things they were informed they were going back to the dangerous plants greenhouse. She put her things away, then decided to take them with her just in case the professor shared some important information. She followed into the dangerous plants greenhouse, listening and watching as the professor instructed them on snargaluffs. It was a silly name, and a somewhat banal appearance, but Lucy knew the plant wouldn't be here if it wasn't dangerous in some way. Sure enough, the professor explained exactly how. Lucy took down a few notes, then wandered the greenhouse, taking another peek at the devil's snare. She kept to herself though, and soon they were dismissed. Lucy made her way back to the castle.

Teddy had been thinking about the dangerous plants greenhouse all week, wondering what else was in there and if the dangerous plants ever fought each other. There must be competitions between these plants for being the most dangerous. All valid thoughts, and he was pleased they were back here so he could gather more evidence. He gave the devil snare a respectable salute as they passed, stopping at the Snargaluff and watched how dangerous it was. He gave Aurora a light shoulder bump at her comment then replied, "More likely it identified me as the alpha." He commented with a smile, even if he was somewhat unnerved by the plant.
