Sixth Years, Lesson Five

“Good Morning guys!” He greeted them, with the same jovial tone as always. He might be tired, and this lesson may be short, but he couldn't be tired in front of students. Misha was young, that may seem unprofessional. “Hopefully, you have done the reading, the end of the term is soon, as are your exams!” He paced slightly in front of the students, “If you have, you'll know that today we are looking at the Flame Freezing Charm. You'll also know that we need a tiny little history lesson.” A few people in the class look annoyed at this, “It'll only take a few seconds, I promise. Anyway, back about three hundred years and more, muggles preferred to burn those individuals suspected of having magic at the stake. Many of these people did not suffer a painful death, but instead had only to suffer through theatrics. How did they do this? They learned how to change the properties of fire.”

Misha smiled in the room, removed the wand from his pocket and gave it a small flick. All the things of his desk, flew off and settled themselves on the ground, not too far away. The professor walked round, so he was at the back of his table, looking out at the class. Once again, with a small flick of his wand, a tiny part of the table was set alight. The flames began to rise, and dance, as fire always did. He cast the flame Freezing charm and then placed his hand in the middle of the fire. “The Flame Freezing Charm changes the properties of fire so that its heat feels like a warm breeze. Which is why my hand is not burning. It feels like a tickling sensation against my fingers.” He removed his hand from the fire and got rid of the fire. “Now, it's your turn” Professor Misha demonstrated the spell, and reminded them that it was dangerous to play with fire, so they should be careful. “Don't worry, I will help you keep things under control, and no one can put their hand into the fire, until I have tried it myself. Outside this classroom, practice at your own risk, but please avoid burning down the school. There will no reading for next week, just revise, folks.”

-RP the lesson, attendance is fine. You don't need to practice in class, your character can just leave. Feel free to RP Misha helping you out.

Mikael entered the classroom, another day of attending class with his stupid cousin. It was annoying that in the last couple of weeks, Theodore was trying to get on his nerves by teasing him and mentioning that he usually had better grades. Of course, Mikael could get better grades if he wanted to, he knew the material. It just didn't seem relevant - it was more useful to keep up the pretense of low grades and pretend that his OWLs were just a fluke. Still, Theodore was getting on his nerves. And here Mikael was still attending class and performing well. The day's discussion was the Flame Freezing Charm which was he supposed fascinating for the others. He knew he'd manage this with a little more practice. As the flames leapt up on the desk, Mikael’s gaze sharpened as the professor placed his hand into the fire. When it was the students’ turn to practice, Mikael stood, leaving the classroom since they were given leave to practice elsewhere. Anywhere that didn't have Theodore would be a better place anyway.

Theo strolled into the classroom, an exaggerated yawn on his lips as he stretched his arms above his head. He didn't know why he felt tired - well, he knew, but it was better to play ignorant. "Morning Professor," he said with a grin, voice light and teasing. As Misha launched into the history of the Flame Freezing Charm, Theo tapped his fingers rhythmically on the edge of his desk, clearly not paying too much attention to the details. He really was more interested in knowing how the fire’s going to feel when he put his hands in it. He was quite glad the lecture didn't continue on for too long, he was losing his patience or was it tolerance, quite fast. "Alright, let’s do this. Let’s see if I can make this spell look good," he said with a grin as he pulled out his wand. He winked at a few classmates who were already eyeing him - whether in annoyance or response to his flirting didn't really matter as he added a dramatic flair to the way he cast the spell. The flame shimmered into a gentle, harmless breeze of warmth as it enveloped his hand, and he practically giggled with delight. "Well, well, well," Theo said, mischievous grin. "So do you think we'll have magic when we die because I get told to go to hell a lot and this is going to be one useful spell to have there."

Hinata bowed slightly to Misha-san as she hurried to her seat upon entering the classroom. She'd read up on today's lesson which would apparently be focusing on the Flame Freezing Charm which was a really cool spell in her opinion. Of course, how the spell was used in history was quite interesting as well. It was already quite well known that real witches and wizards - particularly adult ones - weren't really part of the casualties during the witch hunts. This was of course the cause for such a high survival rate as evidence by the professor's demonstration. When it came time for the students to practice she looked around and decided to follow Mikael to practice the spell elsewhere.

The blonde made her way to the charms classroom one of her favorite classes for sure. And not only because her adoptive person she called it was teaching it. Misha wasn't the worst person to be around, and it had been not mistake the road she took with him. Although having the nurse as his wife now was not exactly what she had prefered and babies that came with that. But after she would be graduated she would gonna find a place for herself if she would find a good job, which she was sure she would. She listened as Misha spoke and they would cover the flame freezing charm today. And June had done her reading obviously. She saw Misha setting a part of the table on fire and smiled, she always enjoyed fire making spells. Than him touching the fire was incredible to watch. But it was a bummer in a way to know learn this so others in dueling could do it too. Misha would put his hand in the fire before they would and that was kind of scary for him perhaps, since most of her classmates were idiots and failures. She let out an annoying sound as the annoying gryffindor boy couldn't shut his mouth. Someone had to tape his mouth for once and all. She hoped he would participate in dueling so she could defeat him very hard. She practiced with the spell and setting a part on fire wasn't hard. And than put the flame freezing spell over it and called Misha. She didn't want him to hurt himself in a way, and smiled as her spell worked and tried herself. Smiling to Misha and as the lesson was over she left the classroom.

The history behind the flame freezing charm was surprising quite fun as well as interesting, it provided Bailey with a great degree of relief to learn that real witches were in fact not burnt at the stake by muggles during the witch trials but simply used spells like the flame freezing charm to put on a show and survive. It was still sad to think about how many muggles were killed who didn’t have the protection of real magic, but she could dwell on that later, and she would.

After listening to Professor Haden discuss the charm and how they would go about practicing it she took out her wand and got to work. Once a fire had been set up for her to practice Bailey took a couple of attempts to practice the flame freezing charm and once she thought she had cast it she had Professor Haden try the fire. Once she was satisfied she had done it properly, she packed up her things and made her way out of the classroom.
