Sixth Years: Lesson 4

This week's spell would not nearly be as entertaining as the previous ones, but it was a useful one that would hold more than a simple levitating charm would do. He hated the idea of using what was provided to them before, but alas, this was effective, he would have to say, if not a little messy. On every desk, there was a three-tiered cake, as well as a cake knife. The latter might be dangerous, but these were sixth years, not first years. They were also quite heavy and dense, on top of a solid stone podium. Killian himself was standing off to the side of his massive desk, as he would use this as a point. While he could lift it with one hand easily, that was not the point of today's lesson. Once the sixth years were in here, he magically shut the door. "Morning, sixth years. I assume that most of you got the hang of the Disillusionment Charm. Here we move on to the next spell."

Killian pulled out his wand, and held it at his side, "If you did the reading, you will know that today is the hover charm, and it is basically a better one. A much stronger one. You have limits with Wingardium Leviosa, but with the Hover Charm, you can lift people, desks, and those cakes in front of you. I'll demonstrate." Killian pointed his wand at the desk, gave it a little wave and the desk lifted off of the floor. He raised it a foot above his head, and then lowered it with a decent thud. The thud should indicate that the desk was heavy, much too heavy for the likes of Wingardium Leviosa. "Today's task is simple. Levitate the cake. Once you do that, put back on the podium and lift the whole thing. You can even practice using the knife to cut it."

However, he heard that there were some incidences when Haden taught this. "Just don't throw it or cause any trouble." It was a very stern warning. Last thing he wanted was to clean cake out of his robes. He hated the stuff anyway.
Assignment: RP the lesson.

Magne walked into the charms classroom and took his usual spot in the room. he glanced at the professor as the man got started, and nodded at what they would be doing. He took a few notes as the professor told them about the spell before letting them get started. Magne took his wand and held it out, he nodded and tried to do the spell, and after a few attempts finally got it. He then practiced for the lesson until the professor wrapped things up.

Sofi had mostly got the hang of the Disillusionment Charm except for disguising her feet, but she didn't tell Professor Borisyuk that, instead nodding yes when asked if they had got the hang of it. Fortunately she didn't have to prove it as they were moving onto a new spell. She enjoyed watching the demonstration then got started with her own hover charm. Using her wand she very carefully and slowly she lifted the cake and placed it on the podium, wincing when it nearly slid off. Then she concentrated hard and lifted the podium which wobbled so she put it down as soon as she could. She lifted the knife next, holding it in the air above the cake. It hovered there for a moment as Sofi adjusted her wand handle to navigate it down. And down it went, stabbing straight down into the cake. Sofi tried to still cut a slice but accidentally dragged the knife sideways, tearing through the sponge and making a mess. She managed to cut a slice out of it but she hoped Professor Borisyuk wasn't looking for neatness on this occasion.

Alana made her way into Professor Borisyuk’s classroom for the latest charms lesson. He listened to the professor as he informed them that they would be working on the hover charm, which seemed to be a stronger version of the levitation charm. Alana took out her wand and got to work, levitating the cake first and then lifting the podium with the cake on it, which took a couple of attempts, but she managed to do it. Once the lesson was over, she packed up her things and made her way out of the classroom.
