Lucie was glad that she was back home after such a long first year at Hogwarts. It had been difficult at times, but at least she managed to get through it. She missed being at home though and was glad that not much had changed since she had left. Everything was still the same, nothing had been moved in her bedroom, and everyone was still there. Patrick was working, but it was now normal with his job and so it wasn’t too much different to what she was used to. She was just glad that things were the same, as they definitely didn’t seem the same inside her head. She had many thoughts, all good and bad, and there was no one at Hogwarts that she could talk to about them. No one at Hogwarts cared, and she wouldn’t dare talk to her younger brother about it. After all, he definitely wasn’t the best at giving advice and would overthink the situation, making her worry even more. No, she didn’t want any of that, and so putting a fake smile on for him was good.

It was mid-afternoon on Lucie’s first day of holidays and she couldn’t believe that she had spent most of it by herself in her room. She had been carried away reading books, trying to educate herself, but then easily becoming frustrated when she realised it wouldn’t matter how much she tried studying - it just wasn’t going to help her. After all, it was way too soon to know what she’d be learning next year and so it was extremely pointless. The girl went to stand up from her desk before knocking over her fairy statue. Its head fell off, leaving it in two pieces on the ground. Angrily, she picked both of the pieces up. "Ana!” she exclaimed, storming out of her bedroom and into the dining room where her older sister was sitting. She placed the pieces on the table in front of her. "It’s broken.” She couldn’t help but tear up a little. She didn’t even care about the statue - she was just frustrated.

Ana had been busy this past year since graduating, and she really didn’t know how busy it would be until it hit her. She had been seeing a lot more of Isabelle since they worked in the same building, passing by her a few times as she headed up to her department. It was odd working with some people that she recognised, but at least she was doing something she was good at and enjoyed. She also tried busking a few times, knowing that it was important that she fit music in where she could. Not many people her age appreciated classical music, but it was something she promised herself she wouldn’t give up.

The woman sat at the dining table of the Vernier home going over some notes from a place that she had been called to yesterday that had rather peculiar looking rats. She wanted her report to be informative and correct. It was always interesting seeing just what magic could do and the consequences of such. She looked up however as she heard the sound of footsteps coming from down the hallway. Louis had gone out for a walk and so it definitely wasn’t him, which meant there was only one other person it could be. Lucie entered the dining room holding something that had broken into two, and as she placed it on the table in front of her Ana instantly recognised it as her fairy statue. She didn’t understand why Lucie was so upset over this as she noticed she had tears in her eyes. It was only just a statue. "Repairo.” she said, pointing her wand at the pieces. It glued itself back together and stood back up, looking good as new. "What’s wrong?” Ana asked, raising her eyebrow at her half-sister. Why did she always have to overreact to everything?

Lucie kept her eyes on Ana as she took out her wand and fixed the statue. It was like it never even happened and suddenly Lucie felt very bad for disturbing Ana. She was clearly busy working and Lucie didn’t even think about that before making such a big issue. As her sister asked what was wrong, Lucie couldn’t help but let her tears fall. She didn’t know where to begin and she didn’t know if she should be telling Ana all of this, especially since she was older and had her own problems to deal with. She balled her hands into fists to stop them from shaking before pulling out the chair across from her and sitting down in it. Taking a few deep breaths, she began to speak. ”I honestly don’t know. I just feel like I don’t have any friends.” she told her truthfully, but also a little tentatively. She wasn’t sure how Ana would react as she was always so unpredictable, but the girl just hoped that she would listen to her.

Ana watched as it all unfolded in front of her. Lucie was crying, and for once it wasn’t because of a snarky remark she had made. She was genuinely crying because of something else. Ana just sat there with a slight frown on her face. She didn’t know what to say because she didn’t have any friends herself. But Ana liked it that way. She wasn’t one for gossip and liked the solidarity of being alone. Lucie was sitting in front of her now and Ana swallowed as she tried to come up with words to say. "I know being social is important to you, but I can assure you that there’s more to life than making friends and getting along with everyone. As I’ve mentioned to you before, focus on classes and where you want to go and stay out of everyone’s business, and you’ll be fine.” she told her, giving her a slight nod before turning back to her report. She really had to get this done.
