Open after June!!

Go and clear your head. Go where? There wasn't a single place on earth Rion could have calmed down. All she could see was the smug look on Ruby's face... Professor Moncrieffe should have let her blast it off. Then again, she was already going to be in so much trouble when Professor Josephs found out. That was the worst part. Rion liked Professor Josephs. There weren't many professors she trusted, and now her favourite of them all was going to think she was a sore loser and a baby. The best she could hope for was a chance to offer her side of the story, but in her experience, adults were quite resistant to changing their minds.

As Rion stormed down the dungeon corridor, she came across an empty classroom and shouldered her way inside. What could she do? How was she supposed to recover from this? At least if she'd hit Ruby with that stunning spell, she'd have known not to laugh at her. Now she was going to laugh even harder.

Rion didn't even realise she had her wand in her hand until she said, "Depulso!" The table hit a raised flagstone and teetered, almost comically, on its rear two legs before crashing to the ground. Jars of dried herbs and powders burst open in a cloud of dust and glass. She stared at the wand in her hand. Someone was going to take it away from her. And then what would she have left?

After June had been throwing angry rocks in the water and spoken to Eloise, she had calmed down a bit more. She figured she would not have an good night of sleep anyway tonight. The thought and the face of her father was not easily being errased that easily. But she would walk with her head up inside the castle again, like nothing had happend. Stupid dueling, it wasn't that it was a big difference, or anything special added to her study. June only liked winning and take on everything possible Hogwarts had to offer, except for Quidditch which was stupid and for brainless persons. But she was not gonna be an professional duelist or something. So whatever she told herself.

As she made her way to her dorm she saw Rion walking into an empty classroom. June had seen the duel between her and Ruby and the two girls seemed to be besties in the first year, but they were far from that these days, she could tell that for sure. June slowly and quietly peaked towards the door and before she could process what happend Rion threw an spell and jars were breaking and glass was falling on the ground. The blonde smirked for an moment, it was an hilarious picture to look at. And Rion seemed to be angry too. June could understand her. Perhaps she could use an distraction and become happier to make use of this situation and emotionally Rion. So she pushed open the door quietly and slowly went in. Thinking of how to adress Rion. But June didn't want herself to be caught in this, in case a professor came. But in case they did, she had nothing to fear. Everyone would believe her, she was an good student and didn't hurt a fly right? '' Frustrating right? Losing..'' June said, putting oil on the fire, and sighted. Not saying anything of the mess and what she just saw. Because she was not here to judge, that was not the goal. She wanted Rion close to her, at her side. She was someone she could use, perhaps use this anger someday.
'' Or more like, others cheating. Which was obviously the case right?'' June than added, while putting her arms over eachother and leaned at a desk.

Rion jumped, but it was only June. The more Rion disliked Ruby, the more she liked June, and she was beginning to wonder if she'd picked the wrong side in the first place. Maybe, she thought suddenly, she'd always hung out with Ruby because she didn't feel pretty enough or clever enough for June. Ruby was the safe option. The easy option. But she was the complete opposite of June, who embodied all the qualities she liked best: kindness, cleverness, and subtlety. What if she had been good enough for June all along?

Rion hesitated, fingering her wand. As far as she knew, Ruby hadn't cheated. It would have been wrong to agree she had. Then that smug little grin flashed across her mind again, and the needle on Rion's moral compass began to twitch. "I guess I wouldn't put it past Ruby," she said. "She was winding me up on purpose. That should be against the rules." She cocked her head. "Did Santiago cheat?"

i felt the need to join second year commiserations hope that's okay!!

Oz felt ashamed of himself for losing. It was something of a catch-22, because if he felt like he should have won because of being part-goblin it also would have meant he wouldn't have been able to compete due to an unfair advantage. Conan clearly was better than him in the duel, Oz couldn't deny that, and he didn't have any hard feelings towards his classmate. He only wished he hadn't been hit by that stupid laughing spell, his stomach still aching as he let out a few wheezing laughs. He should have stayed to watch, but there were way too many people down there and fresh air would have been a blessing. More so as he walked into a cloud of dust, his wheezes turning to sneezes.

"Ah...ha..." he sniffled, glaring at the two girls in a classroom who were seemingly hard done by for losing. Now he was annoyed, especially with his eyes watering from laughter and now powders. He let out another large (for his size) sneeze, pulling out his handkerchief and wiping his nose. "Oi," he groaned, looking between Rion and June. Even if they were both kind of intimidating, he was more annoyed than scared. "Which one of you did that?" It sucked that they were both taller than him, but so it went. "Nobody cheated. We all lost. Get over it." Merlin, why are girls so stupid? he thought, as though he wasn't internally beating himself up for losing.

June noticed Rion her body language, she didn't expect someone to be here. June hadn't expect this too when she was on her way to her dorm. She had seen the duel and hoped that Ruby would disqualified. June would gladly step in, since she had been following the rules well. June kept her face straight and in a caring way for Rion as she watched her. And nodded with along with Rion. '' She should be disqualified really. If you look at the rules, she crossed them after the duel, when she came at you. Don't you think? '' June than said and put an sweet smile after it. When Rion asked her in return about her own duel, June put up her shoulders. '' Clearly.'' June than said. But than decided to continue her doesn't care act. '' But really Rion... Dueling is not even that import-'' June wanted to finish, when she heard an strange sound, what was it a greeting? And as she turned around and she had to look down, she frowned seeing the small boy, from their classes. He was really overlooked, since she never had been interested in him.

June looked at Rion for an moment and back to the little boy, which was an hufflepuff too so irrelevant already. She was actually annoyed. So she could do two things, pretend he wasn't here, or react to him. '' And you are?'' June than said crossing her arms as she went standing up and looked down at the boy. June knew she could do this, she didn't had to pretend to be nice to him since she didn't cared about him. And she could learn Rion an lesson how to be confident. The fact that he lost, was not suprising to her. June could insult the boy, so he would be crying back to his bed. But that was not what she wanted people to think of her, if it was not necessary. But if someone would cross her, she would not forget. A fact was that he annoyed her. '' You know nothing and will not tell us what to do. So why don't you just go back to where you came from? Or help clean up. '' June than said and added and sugar sweet smile after it.
'' Choice is yours.'' June was not gonna do anything, in case a professor came she didn't want to make her hands dirty or use her wand. That's where they had house elves for right?

Well... Rion had probably broken the rules first when she'd tried to stun Ruby after the duel had ended, but she smiled in half-hearted agreement. It was nice to have someone on her side, even if they were both on the wrong side.

An explosive sneeze announced Oswald's arrival.
"Bless you," Rion said automatically. She was about to own up to tipping the table when Oswald suddenly told her to get over losing the duel, and any admission died on her tongue. She crossed her arms, trying to look fierce, though she had never been any good at hiding her sensitivity. That was why she'd needed Ruby. When she was with Ruby, nobody laughed at her, or called her names behind her back, or stole her things and flushed them down the toilet.

She had June, now. But when was she going to learn to stand up for herself?

Rion leaned on a desk, chewing the inside of her cheek. How did June do it? Every word that came out of her mouth was as sharp as a sword, and that sword was dripping with honey. Rion could only have dreamed of having half her wit.

She watched Oswald, silent.

"...thanks," Oz replied to Rion, equally as automatically. As fired up as he actually was, that didn't mean he'd immediately forget his manners. Entirely. Some of the things he wanted to say were entirely impolite, and if his parents were around to see him they'd surely be disappointed. (Though, his grandmother would probably tacitly encourage it). His brow furrowed at June, as he wheezed out another sad laugh. "You'd know who I was if you took your head out of your own backside for five minutes." He sniffled again, feeling like an absolute wreck, but even in the wake of being hit with a laughing jinx and having to sneeze constantly, he still could take some pride in the fact that he could accept that Conan out-duelled him. "Nah, if you're so good at magic that the only way you lost a duel is cause of cheating, Scourgify is no problem for you." Oz sneezed again, moving to leave with a shake of his head.

As June had said her part, she felt Rion's eyes at her burning. June wondered what went through the girls mind. This was nothing yet. And June had kept it direct, and not too mean. But she bet Rion didn't dared to say anything of it. June could try and help the girl out, to keep her at her side. Like how to become confident lessons, and don't let anyone tell you what to do. She watched behind her for a moment to Rion and gave her a sweet smile, and than looked at the little boy again. And watching his reaction. And June her opinion on the boy was very clear. And if she made an opinion about someone, that would hardly ever change. And this boy was added to another person which she disliked. Which was no suprise, since she would dislike him already before meeting and hearing him speak. June was easily to judge. Out of emotions she could react now to this and liking this too much and burning him to the ground. Because he was really asking for it. She could start about his height and all, but she would do that if she was alone with him if she didn't threw the angry rocks after her duel. But she was smarter than that.. So she smirked at him and shook her head. '' Insulted much? '' And than her facial expression changed quickly and gave him an ice cold look. Saying without any words, that he was warned and he should watch his tongue. '' I like to spend time to people who are interested. Like Rion here.'' June said and gave the Ravenclaw an smile.

People were so jealous at her all the time. She wasn't used to anything else. Somewhere they all wanted to be her, it was almost exhausting. Taking a step back from his annoying and filthy sneezing. And moved to Rion hearing the little boy talk some more. And ignored him like she didn't heard what he said. '' Bye! What's your name anyway?'' June than stayed quiet and said. '' Oh wait.. I don't care.'' June than said cheerfully like nothing was happening and moved to Rion. She decided to just put a bit more spice towards it in front of Rion. Since it didn't seem to bother her and facinate her more. And if she would, June would explain her how you would not let others walk over you. It was all interesting to see how the Ravenclaw would react to this.

Rion clenched her jaw. If June's head was up her backside, it was only so she wouldn't have to listen to annoying boys like Oswald. This time when he sneezed, Rion managed to withhold her blessing. She willed him to hurry up out the door, partly because she didn't want to talk to him, and partly because she didn't want June to keep talking to him. It wasn't right. Rion had been raised to stand up for herself, but she hadn't been raised to be a bully, and June had a way of smudging the line between the two. It made Rion uneasy.

And, whether she liked it or not, Oswald was right. Nobody had cheated. They were just sore losers.

Before June could get close enough to see the apprehension on her face, Rion moved over to the upturned table and occupied herself scooping up the herbs by hand. Probably she should have repaired the jars first, but she didn't trust herself to cast the spell correctly, and she would give June no reason to turn that scathing wit on her.
