Lucy was in a speculative mood, walking across the grounds in the early September evening. The sun was skimming the sky, warm bright orange stretching into the blue. She wondered if she really deserved head girl when the sun got low. Something about the shift between night and day had her questioning things. Questioning a lot, really. What would the future hold? She was to be a healer - but that wasn't the choice chosen by her. More accurately, it's what her parents wanted. With their dreams crushed, where did that leave Lucy? She sighed a little, eyeing the forest to check that none of the more courageous first years were sneaking off. It was partly her responsibility, after all. Partway through her walk, Lucy's expression shifted upon spying someone she knew well. "Hey Marley!" Lucy called out as she spotted her friend. She did a half-jog to bridge the gap between them until they were at a conversational distance. Something about Lucy's smile wasn't quite believable. It lacked her usual spark and was easy to see through. "How are you going? It's been such a whirlwind, I haven't had time to catch up!"

Marley couldn't believe it was her final year at school. It seemed like the school years just decided to zoom by. Now that Marley was in her final year, she knew she had to start deciding on what she wanted to do once she left school. The idea of being an auror had been in her mind for ages, but it also seemed like a bit commitment. She was still on the fence about it. Marley had decided to take an evening stroll on the school grounds, just to clear her mind on a busy day she had. She hadn't been paying attention to her surroundings when she then heard her name being called by a familiar voice. Marley turned and grinned when it was, in fact, Lucy. "Hey, headgirl!" Marley says with a chuckle and a wave. As Lucy got closer to her, she noticed the girl's smile was a little different from usual, but she didn't question it. Not for now anyway. "I'm doing good! Just needed an evening stroll to clear my head I guess" Marley says with a grin and nod. "Right? It's been a busy one! How are you doing?"

Lucy gave a sheepish look at being addressed as head girl - she was still getting used to it. "It's been busy for sure," Lucy replied, "with clubs and quidditch and now being head girl..." Lucy trailed off a little, collecting herself. "I enjoy it. I'll miss it. I'll miss it a lot." Lucy's face fell a bit. "Do you ever wonder about life after Hogwarts, Marley?" she suddenly asked. "To be honest with you, I was meant to be a healer. That's what my parents wanted. And it's taken me years to think on what else there might be out there for me. Do you have any ideas for what you'll do?" Lucy hoped this wasn't too sudden a shift to serious talk.

Marley nodded as she listened to what Lucy had said, understanding and relating to it a lot. Being busy with both Quidditch and club responsibilities. But she also understood about missing everything behind as well once they left school. She tilted her head to the side when it seemed they were going into a serious conversation. Marley thought for a moment. "I have thought for a while. Either a healer or an auror, but leaning towards an auror a lot more. It's a hard decision, especially if it's something you're gonna do for the rest of your life" Marley says with a nod. She had done a lot of thinking about if over the years, especially with their final year approaching closer and closer. "Is there something else you wanna do that isn't being a healer? Is that what your parents set out for you for all your life?"
