Second Years Lesson Four

She smiled as the students came into class, standing from her chair. She'd spoken to Sam, and between the few days he spent with his father and the babysitting her fellow Professor offered, Mallory'd gotten several of her lessons covered. "Hello, everyone. Take your seats, thank you," she smiled. "Alright, today's lesson is very simple. I trust you've done your reading?" She folded her hands, walking slowly along the front of the room, continuing on with the class. "The Repello charm is the opposite of the Accio charm. The charm is fairly self-explanatory; it repels things away from the target.” She laughed lightly. “There isn’t really very much to explain about this,” She told them, eyes scanning the room.

The wand movement is simply pointing at your target and focusing your magic. The incantation is Repello, along with the name of what you wish to repel. For example,” Mallory turned, pointing her wand at a book on her desk. “Repello book,” she spoke firmly, and the book skidded away from her and off the end of her desk. It hit the floor with a clatter.

She smiled, motioning for the students to get up. “Gather your things, everyone, we’re going outside for the rest of this lesson. Come along,” she ushered them all out, taking them out to the Gardens on the school grounds. “Now everyone. Please do be careful; for today's lesson I want you to practice repelling insects and worms away from the plants. Once you’ve succeeded, you can leave, but please tell me first.” She smiled warmly, folding her hands in front of her. “I will be right here if any of you need anything.”

Winnie was settling in well to her school routine. It was easy enough to do and she’d managed to get most thing under her control. It was always a little thrown when things were happening around the school. At this point in the semester, for her at least, things were calm and unbusy and she was able to really focus on her revision, focus on completing and doing her homework well. She was able to work well and harder when there was less to distract ehr. School was good but it was in many ways pretty distracting. Winnie gathered up the things she needed for the day and then headed out of the room.

Winnie walked into the charms classroom and took her usual spot in the class. She looked up at the professor and nodded lightly, she had of course done the reading. She took her wand and nodded with what the professor was telling them. She followed the woman and the rest of the class out of the grounds and thought it was silly that they were doing this outside, but she found a spot to work and just got started. She took out her wand and then pointed it at an ant and said. ”Repello,” it didn’t take much for her to get the spell and then she practiced the spell over and over until the professor wrapped up the lesson and they were able to leave.

Lumos was feeling pretty good about Charms, but that shouldn't be a surprise since he truly enjoyed charms, and he even liked the professor, which he knew was sometimes a bit controversial amongst his peers. He took a spot quite close to the front because he liked to be close to the action and this was one of those cool spells, a bit like Accio, well the opposite of Accio he supposed, which was what made it so good. He took a couple of notes on what the professor was saying and then got ready to work on the spell, following the movements with his wand and saying the spell separately so he wouldn't accidentally do the spell without meaning to. He'd done that before and it had been a little weird, but also kind of funny. He was a worm wriggling its way into a root and quickly pointed his wand at it. "Repello!" he didn't want to be the one responsible for the plants dying.

Sayuri entered the classroom, relieved that the baby was finally not in class. It made Sayuri sigh as she sat beside her brother, trying to brace herself for the lesson. As Mallory began the lesson, Sayuri listened, the explanation of the Repello charm was straightforward, and she was confident she could manage it with little trouble. She watched as the professor demonstrated the spell, her wand pointed at the book, which slid across the desk before falling to the floor. When the professor announced they would be moving outside, she stood and gathered her belongings, walking with @Elijah Edogawa and the rest of the class as they were ushered to the Gardens. "At least she finally didn't bring the baby. Here I thought we'd have to Repello dear Peter just to have him away for a class," she muttered, exasperated. She wasn't going to really but the baby's presence had been getting really annoying and old. Shaking her head, Sayuri focused on the task at hand as they reached the Gardens. She crouched near a patch of plants, her wand at the ready. Carefully, she pointed it at a beetle crawling on a leaf. "Repello beetle," she said firmly, and the beetle skittered away from the plant, tumbling into the grass. Satisfied, she repeated the spell a few more times, repelling worms and other small bugs from the surrounding plants.

Lilith walked into the Charms lesson feeling more tired than usual, a lot was going on around her so who could blame her. She was determined not to let it affect her coursework though so she tried to keep her mind in the lesson. Seeing as though there was no baby this time, Lilith felt a bit more comfortable especially as the professor flung a book away from herself. Even though it landed nowhere near Lilith she blinked her eyes and tried not to flinch at the loud sound. As the young professor took them outside the Ravenclaw looked around aimlessly for anything to participate on. Her mind started to wander as she walked towards a bush and saw a snail nibbling on the leaf's of it. Pointing at the snail she spoke quietly "Repello snail." The snail stayed there and as though in mock of her unsuccessful spell it's little antlers twitched. Lilith repeated it twice but she admitted her head was not on the situation it was somewhere else entirely. After her fifth fail she lowered her head in shame, this was not what she allowed from herself, she shouldn't fail. Returning to the professor as the time ran out she spoke softly "Sorry, I'm afraid I couldn't do it this time. I promise to practice until I get it right, I'm just having a hard time focusing today." That was an understatement, but it was okay she'd get it before end of semester.
