Nikko paced around the owlery once he attached his letter to his parent's and set it off. He still wrote to them regularly even though he rarely got a response. Which was fine since his mom didn't know much about mail by owl and his father probably thought it was bad for the owls, or something. But even when he did get a letter it was only ever in his mom's hand writing. He paused in front of a sleeping black owl and scratched it on it's head. The creature slowly opened his eyes and blinked back. He sighed, and looked out the tower's window. It was surprising to find that for once the view didn't feel him with a complete sense of uneasiness. It wasn't that surprising that after nearly two years at school he was becoming more comfortable here, especially now that he had a cat of his own to keep him company at school. But it still felt weird and wrong, knowing his dad had hated it here so much.

Cheyenne had finished everything she needed before doing the daily chore she insists on doing. Since she got an owl, she always put the little flier in the Owlery. The Slytherin Dormitories lack windows where she couldn't let out her owl anytime the animal wanted to get out for a stretch. That's why every break she can get, Cheyenne goes up to the Owlery to feed her owl. A bowl of bird feed and a water container, she headed up the stairs. It was a daily exercise, nonetheless, she enjoyed it.

Entering the space of weird smells from owl poo, Cheyenne noticed another person inside and it looks like they're just admiring the owls. The Slytherin girl continued to walk to her owl, placing the bowl of bird feed before acknowledging the person. "Great day today, don't you think?" she said with a smile. Cheyenne had seen the person before, in some of her classes.

Nikko turned his head quickly when he heard someone else speak. "What?" he said, as a reaction more than a serious question. He looked at the girl who had joined him and quickly recognized her from some of his classes. He shrugged, once he registered what she had said. "Oh yeah, I guess." he said. Nikko wasn't in the best mood, which tended to happen when he thought too much about home, but the weather was good and his day had been pretty decent up until that point. He wasn't really sure what to say next so he reached up to pet the owl again but he wasn't paying much attention this time. But he must have done something wrong because the owl snapped at him and made contact with his finger. "Ow!" he exclaimed and pulled back his hand.
