Savannah couldn't believe that this school had two celebrations, not just the yuleball but this too. She didn't have a good dress for one, and now needed to have two. She hadn't gotten a new one, that would've required her to speak to her parents and she wouldn't do that unless necessary. and really it wasn't like they would've had more to give her for such a frivolous purchase. So Savannah was wearing the same dress as she had in the last celebration. She felt like everyone had already clocked her wearing the same dress but she pushed down her anxieties about it and just forced herself to just had a little look around, scope out what kind of event this was.

Renata thought she must have been making a mistake. She seemed to be getting a lot wrong this year. She hadn't noticed Sky's feelings, she'd thought Eugene maybe liked her more than he actually did...and she hadn't remembered to bring anything to wear for the Valentine's dance. Not that she actually owned many dresses, nor did she think there was that much point going, really. She would've asked Eugene for a dance, but since he hadn't said anything to her she thought she might've been pushing it too far. Seeing things that weren't actually there. But despite her mistakes, Renata was going to do her best to be brave even as she hid around the edge of the dance, hoping to just people watch and not actually be noticed in her good jeans and a nice top. She saw a young girl, probably a first year, scoping out the ball and approached her with a smile, figuring she could push down her feeling sorry for herself and instead focus on being pleasant to people and making them feel good. "Hi! I love your outfit," she said, earnestly. It wasn't a traditional ball gown but she thought it was cool and different.

Savannah was immediately suspicious of the girl who approached her smiling, and then complimented her outfit. Savannah looked down at what she was wearing and then looked back up at the girl with a frown. This wasn't that nice an outfit. It was the same one she'd worn to the yuleball, but this girl was older and likely not in her house, so perhaps that was why she would compliment it. ”Thanks,” she replied after a beat of silence, and the tone was a little tight. ”I love what you're wearing too,” she replied, and it was almost like she didn't mean what she said. Though even Savannah wasn't sure if she meant it.
