Magne had gone for a rather normal costume, he wanted to participate a little more in the celebrations which the school was having. But it was pretty difficult for him to do so, he hadn't preplanned anything, and perhaps that had been his mistake, but he'd found a stripey top that he could wear, and an old hat, and was pretending to be a sailor. He liked being a sailor. He was when he wasn't at school a bit of sailor. Just sailors didn't wear the things he was wearing unless they really wanted to. He headed excited into the great hall, and then began taking some snacks.

Rosalind had gone all out with her costume. It wasn't the most traditional for halloween, but she thought it counted. She didn't particularly like creepy things so she'd just gone for a nice regency look. Regency novels were cool after all. Even though she didn't one hundred percent understand what Jane Austen was talking about, just reading her novels made Rosalind feel sophisticated and cool.

Entering the great hall, she was excited to find Magne near the snacks. "Hey! I like your costume. Very cool," she said with enthusiasm. "How are you, by the way? English coming along alright?"

Magne was glad to be joined by someone he knew. He gave Rosalind a wide smile and gave a little look down at his costume. "Your costume, much better," he said, his english was better, coming along nicely, his sentence were just still a little disjointed and his accent heavy, but he was managing much better. "I am good and English is coming. You?"

"Aw, thank you!" Rosalind said to the compliment, feeling pleased to receive it. "That's great! I'm doing well. Kind of missing home a little bit," she admitted, a little bit embarrassed but feeling like she trusted Magne enough to be honest. She was twelve years old though and she felt she should be over silly things like being homesick. "But I'm keeping busy too. It's a bit tougher this year, don't you think? The spells and all that."

Magne nodded in agreement. "I miss home also, my mama make nice dinners," he replied, since he too did really miss his home, and he always did miss his mother's cooking. "It tougher, but easier....I catch up less," he frowned somewhat, not sure he had correctly articulated what he wanted to say. it was easier for him to not fall too behind, but not easier easier.

Rosalind smiled a little sadly, but she felt reassured that she wasn't the only one. "Hmm I can't say I miss my dad's cooking, but I do miss him," she said. "Does your mum have, um, a special dish? Food she can make really well?" Rosalind asked. She then frowned a little at his words. "Catch up less..." she repeated, then seemed to get it as her eyes opened wide. "Oh! You don't have to catch up as much. Right?"

Magne gave a little smile, he nodded as she talked about her father. "She make good tacos," he said fondly, he did mis a lot of of the food she made, but the tacos were something that just didn't taste the same if she hadn't made them. They were just not as good as when she did it. "Yeah," he then said as she understood his sentence. "I understand more, less other work translating or having read more," he then added.
