Ride the Line of Balance

Rory shared some classes with the next guy on her delivery list, and she was kind of curious to actually talk to him. She wondered if he was just as smarmy out of class as he was when he was answering a professor's question, or if he was completely normal. It was completely by chance that she caught him passing through the entrance hall as she was, and Rory stepped quickly in front of the boy to stop him escaping. "Tristan. Hi. Got a rose for you." She offered the flower out quickly as explanation for her interruption.

Tristan was passing through the entrance hall on his way from the great hall, his mind on the dance tonight. He really wanted to impress October, but he also hoped Vivian would stay away from the dance. He didn't want the two to mix. With Kauri, at least they hadn't really known each other. But Vivian and October shared classes, so it was harder to see them as wholly separate. He was snapped out of his thoughts when a girl stepped in front of him. He raised one eyebrow as he came to a stop. "Hello Rory." He told her, though he knew that wasn't really her name. It was a name he associated with another person, someone a lot less pleasant. But he knew her long enough to know she went by this awful name. He smiled when she mentioned a rose and immediately offered it to him. "Thank you." He said as he took it from her. It was pink, which was always nice. "Did it have a note?"
