Quite glad that she had completed all of her assignments for every one of her lessons, Estrella had decided to take a much needed break from studying and escape from Ravenclaw tower and the library, the two places she had frequented most over the past few days.

Clutching a copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a children's book that she felt a bit silly to be reading but enjoyed nonetheless, she took a seat in the rather large window, setting her back to the wall and curling her legs over the ledge. She cracked the spine of the book, attempting to be lost within the pages, attempting her hardest to push out the thoughts of summer break and exams all crushing upon her mind.

Kaela and Kale had just spent some time outside enjoying the sunshine. They decided to head in because Kaela was feeling tired and wanted to take a nap. Making their way up to the Ravenclaw common room Kaela and Kale talked the entire way up, joking and enjoying themselves. Kaela was giggling loud and carefree as she turned a corner to have her eyes land on Estrella sitting in a window. She stopped dead and turned to Kale, unsure of what to do. Kaela had somehow not run into Estrella all year and now here she was, with her and Kale laughing it up.

Estrella's ears perked up as they were met with giggling; probably some first years, she thought to herself in a bit of annoyance, figuring that she would want to get out of here before she said something. She snapped her book shut quietly, stepping out of the window and brushing off her robes as she clutched the book at her side. Her eyebrows raised, however, as her eyes fell upon Kale and Kaela; now she knew that she definitely did not want to be here. Keeping her expression blank she held her head high, pressing herself as near to the wall as she could without touching it, trying to get out of there before she would say anything, whether she would regret it or not.

Kale and Kaela had been enjoying themselves that afternoon with fresh air and each others company. On their way up to the tower where Kale was escorting Kaela back to the common room, Kaela suddenly stopped walking when Kale was in the middle of telling her one of his normal dorky jokes. His eyes fell on Estrella quickly after, Kale shook his head and looked at Kaela, "No, no, no.." he whispered to her while squeezing her hand slightly and tugging her to keep on walking.

Kaela frowned as she looked up at Kale. He had done so much for her and been so good to her, but how could he suggest she just ignore Estrella? Even if she did, Estrella would not leave her thoughts. Kaela bit her lower lip and gave Kale and apologetic look before turning to Estrella. "Estrella, wait. Please don't go." She looked timid as she begged her friend to stay, her hand squeezing Kale's.

Kale shook his head and looked at Kaela warily. He hadn't talked to Estrella in Merlin knows how long and didn't know if starting now would mend their friendship. Kale tugged Kaela's hand once more before she spoke to his ex, "Kaela..." he whispered a bit louder than before, not in the mood to watch or be in a fighting match at that moment. Kale sighed and rolled his eyes, knowing that Kaela's Ravenclaw tendencies were kicking in, when she was determined to do something, she would go through with it.

Estrella stopped, looking to Kale and raising an eyebrow at Kaela. "Why?" she said quietly, unable to brush aside the fact that she hadn't even talked cordially to Kaela for months. Why would she want to start talking now? Especially after the words they had exchanged? "Why now?" she added, itching to get out of the situation before she made things less pleasant.

"I..." Kaela began but cut off, biting her lower lip. What could she said to Estrella? How could she convince her that she missed her friend? Kaela looked up to Kale for a moment, almost wishing she had followed his advise and done nothing. She looked back to Estrella, her eyes wide in pleading. "I miss you Estrella. I'm tired of ignoring each other. This is stupid. There's no reason we can't still be friends."

Estrella stood in her place, sighing quietly. "Last conversation we had I thought it was apparent that we couldn't be." Yes, she regretted what she had said, but she didn't think that they would have gone back to being friends anyway. "And after what was said, why? What's to miss?"

Kaela's eyes widened in shock at what Estrella said. That was definitely not what she had been expecting, nor what she had been hoping to hear. Kaela had spent a lot of her time being sad lately, but now she decided to be angry. She was trying to reconcile things with Estrella and Estrella was being a pain in the butt. Did Estrella really have that big a problem with Kaela and Kale being together, or was she just stubborn? Kaela didn't know, and now she didn't even care.

"You're right, what's to miss? I thought maybe some ounce of the Estrella I was friends with was still in there, but it seems everyone was right when they said you had changed for the worse. If all you are is a stubborn, jealous pain then you're right, we can't be friends." Kaela glared at Estrella for a few moments before turning to Kale and whispering softly "I'm so sorry about that. Can we go somewhere else?"

Kale's jaw hung open for a fraction of a second at what Estrella had said to Kaela, she really had changed. He brought his face back to a blank expression quickly, wanting to just get out of there before anymore happened. Kale decided that staying quiet and not getting into their business would be best for him, he hated drama and everything about it. He stood there, anxious to leave.

Kale was flabbergasted at what Kaela had then said to Estrella, he hadn't ever heard her ever say anything like that to anyone. He nodded at her apology and led the way for her, wondering if that was all that was actually going to happen between both girls.

((wow. I wasn't going for that kind of reaction with the way my post was worded. #-o But it's fine, I guess. :D ))

Estrella's eyes narrowed at Kaela, a bit surprised by her reaction. "Excuse me? I ask you a simple question and you fly off the handle?" She looked to Kaela, more than a bit hurt; she hadn't intended her words to be taken in the way they had. "And if you're going to stand here and insult me, then what's the effort for? You sure don't seem like you're trying to reconcile anything. Stubborn? Yeah, I guess you could call me that. Jealous? Sorry, Kaela, but I'm long over it." She gave a pointed look to Kale, her eyes trailing back to Kaela.

She was unsure whether to step out of the situation before it turned for the better or worse, and she was guessing worse. But she wasn't going to leave without a last word. "I'm sorry if you took my words the wrong way, but I'd rather not stand here and be the odd woman out. I was talking about missing me, for Merlin's sake! I'm sorry for saying the things I said a few months ago but what the hell is that going to change? You're all going to think I'm some kind of psycho anyway."

Kaela had turned to go with Kale but stopped when Estrella began talking. Had she overreacted? This had all become much bigger than it ever needed to be. "Well yeah I'm gonna think you're a psycho now. I want to reconcile and you ask me what's to miss? That says to me that you don't miss our friendship and that you haven't felt half as bad as I have since I came back. If there's nothing to miss then you won't mind my leaving now. C'mon Kale." Kaela turned and began to walk with Kale once more, whispering up to him, "sorry again. You shouldn't have had to see that."

Estrella frowned as she looked between Kaela and Kale, shaking her head as she slunk past them. "Look, Kaela- I regret what I said, okay? But if you want to talk I'd rather do it where I'm not going to be interrupted or judged by a third party." She looked pointedly at Kale, her cheeks becoming flushed with red. "If you don't want to talk anything out, fine. But don't ever say I didn't leave the option open, psycho or not." Trying to mask her hurt at the word, she began to turn to the stairs, not even wanting to look Kale in the face.

Kale was on his way out for a second time before Estrella spoke up again, it seemed like there was no hope in winning for either of them. "No, it's al--" He rolled his eyes as Estrella started to talk again, he stopped and turned to her. Still feeling no need to get involved. Of course he was the 'third party', he merely shrugged his shoulders. "I'm pretty sure that I don't want to be here as much as you do." Kale said to Estrella simply, he didn't want to be around her, period. "Well, if you two want to battle this out...I can leave." he said, shooting Kaela a questioning look. Kale wouldn't leave her unless if she wanted him to.

Kaela turned and listened to Estrella, unable to believe what she was hearing. Left the option open? She did no such thing. She's so stubborn! Kaela turned to Kale and listened, shaking her head at him. "No no. I have nothing to say to her that you can't hear. If she doesn't want you here, I'm leaving with you. Besides, I think this is pretty much done anyway." This time Kaela turned to Estrella and looked at her, waiting for her to get her inevitable word in before she could leave.

Estrella looked to Kale as he spoke to her, but did not make any comment. It was quite evident that he did not want to be around her, and in turn she did not want to be near him. "Well, I guess it's settled then," Estrella replied curtly, "Good day to both of you." Turning and making her way down the stairs of the north tower, she was even more irked now that her reading had been interrupted by an unsuccessful conversation.

When Estrella turned her back Kaela's face fell into a deep frown. Why didn't I listen to Kale and just leave her alone? She obviously doesn't want anything to do with me. She turned to Kale and wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug, burying her face in his chest. "I'm so sorry Kale. That was stupid of me. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Kaela sniffled, trying not to cry as she clung to Kale, hating herself for what she had done.

Kale's eyes followed Estrella as she left the tower, he shrugged and looked back at Kaela. As she wrapped her arms around him, Kale listened to her muffled apologies buried in his chest. He put his arms around her, not sure what else to say, "It's alright." he said, Kale could have gone without seeing they're little conversation, but it didn't really bother him much. "I was actually expecting worse. Things blowing up and stuff." Kale couldn't help but joke when he was uncomfortable in times like these. "What do you say we continue our excursion up the tower so you can go ahead and take that nap you wanted." he hugged her tightly, not wanting to have to worry about her and Estrella any longer.

Kaela released from the hug with a weak smile on her face. "Thanks," she started softly and grabbed Kale's hand. "Yeah, I could definitely use a nap. Can we cuddle first though? I could really use a good cuddle." Kaela was really glad Kale had been there with her. She didn't feel too good after her failed attempt with Estrella and Kale had a knack for making her feel better.

Kale couldn't help but force a smile when Kaela asked to cuddle, "Well, if it makes you feel better.." he pulled his arms around her and gave her a tight hug and held her there. Kale gave her a simple kiss on the forehead and smiled. "I give you props for actually putting fourth the effort of getting to someone as stubborn as Estrella. I don't think you'll get it through her thick head anytime soon though unfortunately." His expression faultered a bit as he looked at her. Kaela always did seem to try and be the bigger person in these situation and this time she sort of got trampled on over by her ex friend. Kale sighed, thinking about what had happend, not allowing her to get free from his arms. She fit perfectly and he liked the feeling of her there too much.

Kaela wrapped her arms back around Kale and snuggled her face into his chest. She felt so tiny in his arms, like a doll, and she loved it. Kaela listened as Kale talked, frowning a bit when he said he didn't think she would get through to Estrella anytime soon. She knew he was right, and that it was stupid of her to try today, but Kaela didn't like sitting around doing nothing. She felt so helpless anymore she just wanted to be in control of something. Kaela let out a sigh and grabbed Kale tighter. "Thank you," she whispered into Kale's chest, closing her eyes and trying to focus on nothing but his arms around her.

Kale held Kaela in his arms, not minding that they were standing and swaying. He got lost in his thoughts for a few moments after he heard her 'thanks', he didn't really have anything else to say so he hugged her tightly once more. Kale was going to miss being able to hold her like he was now during the summer. Those three months would be torture for him if he didn't at least get to visit her or vice versa. Kale gave Kaela a kiss on the forehead before releasing from the hug a bit, but still had his arms around her, "I'm really going to miss you over the summer.." he told her, feeling a bit pessimistic on the whole idea of not being able to see her everyday like at school.
