Hoshi had been bored out of her skull. This happened from time to time because people didn't get it that Hoshi could not do bored for long before her mind came up with ways to get herself unbored. This time she chose public loudness. Not something that would get her in much trouble but also nothing that would go unnoticed. Hoshi brought her magic music device into the library and turned it up full blast. Symphony of Distruction was playing as she started to play air guitar to it. Again it wasn't much but she was sure that it would get a few people's nerves. Especially the ones that where trying to study.

Libby's fifth year was not one full of unexpected hassle. She had yet to have a quiet year at Hogwarts. After her mother had pulled herand her siblings out of school, she'd found out something, something which had only just sinked in. As she now lived with her elder brother, she could return to Hogwarts under the safe guidence of him. Cedric had not returned with her however, and stayed with their grandparents in Italy, attempting to recover from another dose of pnemonia, something he was not unfamilar with. Her sister Natalie too was staying with them. Libby already missed them, but was making sure it wasn't getting on her mind. She had her own future to plan.
She sat in the library, for the first time this year, to try and do some proper studyin. Her older brother wasn't exactly the most educational person, and well as soon as Libby could help him she would.
Her eyes scanned down the pages of "Divination, and eye for an eye", words not really going in, as her mind drifted to someone she thought she'd never see again, someone who didn't know she was back yet. She made a mental note to write a letter to him later. Suddenly she heard a noise, music. She turned, not entirely sure of what she thought she'd see, as a smile appeared on her face.
"Hoshi" she looked up at the Slytherin girl. She'd come across her a few times, but Libby knew her best from the fact she was Larissa's friend. Resting her book on the table, she stood up and approached her. She grinned as Hoshi played the "guitar". She sniggered as she noticed a younger student glaring at her.

(sorry it's long. first post since she's returned though xD)

(long is good. My short one sooks.)

Hoshi saw Liberty come in and smiled wide. She hadn't talked to the girl in ages it seemed and this had to be fixed right away in Hoshi's mind. She wondered where Libby-chan had gone because Lissy-chan hadn't been talking to her either. Hoshi could see them talking all the time before. Come to think of it, when was the last time her friends had talked to her. She had made friends with alot of the younger students but when had the older ones talked to her?

Hoshi put that thought aside when one of her favoret parts came up. "Just like the paid piper lead rats through the streets, we dance like marionetts, sway to the symphony... of distruction!" She said as she seemed to dance up to Libby. She payed no mind to the younger students that where trying to study or the older ones that had owls and things like that to take care of. Hoshi's entertainment came first. "How are ya girlie?" She asked with a wide smile on her face.

Libby gave a small chuckle as Hoshi began to sing along. "I'm great," Libby said simply, keeping to the basics. She wasn't sure if she would be able to talk to Hoshi about anything, she really didn't know her that well. She copied Hoshi's movements, playing the guitar along to her song, closing her eyes dramatically pretending to sing along even though she hadn't a clue of the words and imitating the strumming to the beat.
"How about you?" she finally said back, smiling towards her.

Returning from a brief walk Sam walked through the castle, his jacket speckled with cool raindrops from the Spring showers. He much preferred wet weather than warm weather except when Quidditch games were involved, of course. He would be naive to say that poor weather didn't affect how he flew. Weather effected even the greats. It was a strange quirk of the fifteen year old - walking in the rain and most of the time he made it his business to go for walks during stormy weather.

As he walked through the fourth floor corridor to the Hufflepuff house, Sam passed by the library. It was unusual for Sam to pay any attention to that facility however, this time, was a definite exception. How could he not pay any attention when metal music was being blared out into the corridor. If this was a regular occurance for the library Sam would definitely reconsider the amount of time he spent there.Yet, Sam knew that that wasn't the case, that it was most likely some kid first year playing some sort of joke. Sam entered the library, not because it would be one of his duties as a Prefect but moreso out of curiosity.

Sam moved closer to the source to see no other than two fellow fifth years, Hoshi and Libby. A small smirk played on Sam's handsome face as he leaned on the end of a bookcase behind Hoshi and Libby. "I hope you two realise, that as a prefect I do not take this sort of behaviour lightly." He said loud enough to be heard over the music, removing all evidence of amusement from his face. He looked at the pair in turn waiting for some sort of reply, like how Professor Styx had done many times after himself and Hoshi messed around with the plants during Herbology class.

However, Sam's eyes weren't even close to the painfully cold eyes of Professor Styx while he waited for himself and Hoshi's explanation to their disruption of class. Sam didn't really think it was humanely possible for ones face to ever be that lacking in emotion.

Libby was not expecting to find someone creeping up behind her, and as heard a voice, she gave a light jump and turned to see the face of a fellow Hufflepuff. "Sam!" she grinned at him dispite what he had to say about their behaviour. "So your the other prefect" she said, finally realizing who else Professor Sangora had chosen. "Congrats" she said, a smile still on her face. She liked Sam's company but she'd learnt over the years you couldn't take someone too seriously. She knew the other students wouldn't be approving of the loud music, but Libby was so caught up at the moment, she didn't care too much. Life was too short to be wrapped up too much.
It had been a long time since Libby had been around one of her old friends, let alone two. "How are ya?" she said cheerfully, her mood lightened already by Hoshi, her recent thoughts put aside in her mind.

Hoshi nodded. If Libbies didn't want to be more spasific about what she meant than she wouldn't force her to do so. The song changed to a blend called "Tricky Sandman" and Hoshi started to move her hips to it. That was when she heard a voice that she hadn't heard in a long time. "Sam-Kun!" She yelled and ran up to him to hug him. Never mind that he was trying to scare her like Professor Styx tryed to scared her. This was a girl that had gone toe to toe with her demon of a father.

That and Hoshi could tell that Sam was not all that seriose. He was a Prefect but he was still Sam, her best of all friends. Sure she wasn't sure he would pull rugs from under people's feet but other than that she was sure he would help her with anything. "Ya but you know you want to join in." She said moving her hips so that the chains on her pants would clatter. "It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time it's Tricky...it's Tricky, Tricky, Tricky, Tricky." She said as she moved his arms for him then backed off laughing. Never mind that half the library was glearing at her.

When the two girls recognised his presence, Sam let go of the serious expression on his face and allowed his signature charming smile to spread across his lips. " Congratulations to you too, Libby." He said in return with a small gracious nod. He didn't know anyone who deserved the Prefect spot more than Libby so it didn't come as a shock to Sam when she got it. However, it was the complete opposite when he was informed he was the other Prefect. Although, Sam was beginning to warm up a lot more to the position. He didn't think he'd ever stop getting amused by the amount of power he had over most of the first years.

As Hoshi tackled him in a hug as she so often did, Sam hugged her back, squeezing her tightly as he did so. It had been so long since he had seen the girl that now while he hugged her, he realised how much he missed his small crazy friend. Sam brushed off her comment about joining in on their dancing, with a short- almost nervous - laugh. But that didn't stop Hoshi as she began to move his arms for him. Sam pulled away further as she backed off a little. He folded his arms against his broad chest adamently and this time, in an authentic serious tone, Sam said, "I may enjoy the music, but I don't dance."

Larissa had hoped to study in peace, away from the noise of the common room. However, this was not going to be the case. As Larissa approached the library, she heard music blaring out. Rock music. Familiar rock music like that which Hoshi would often play in the middle of the night. She already knew Hoshi would be there but, as Larissa approached the place at which Hoshi was, she noticed two other familiar faces; one was Sam Prince, a Hufflepuff prefect, the other, was Liberty Barnett.

Larissa stood there for a good two minutes, staring at Liberty, her mouth, tightly shut. Larissa hid her thoughts quite well with the simple act of keeping her mouth shut. The last time they had seen one-another, Larissa had become emotional, had embarrassed herself with such a thing. Well, she wasn't going to let that happen again. "Oh," she said, in mock surprise, "you're back." This was not an uncaring form of greeting, no, more a form to mask the hidden tension. Larissa turned casually back to Hoshi. "Hosh, my lover, as a prefect, I must ask you to keep the noise down as you are causing a disruption." She paused to smirk. "As a friend, I must say that I thoroughly enjoy your taste in music and rules should never stop you having fun." She winked, looking to Sam and nodding "hello." It was rather abrupt, but then, Larissa's focus was more on Liberty being back. Again.

Libby smiled back to Sam when he congratulated her back on her new position. There were many girls in their house that could have taken the post themselves, and Libby had been stunned to find out she would be chosen.
Libby still didn't recognise the songs Hoshi was playing, however she was enjoying it. It managed to take her mind of things. When Sam said he didn't dance, she couldn't resist but give him a small nudge with her hip and giggling. "What to do at the yule ball?" she asked, remembering te event. Libby herself hadn't attended since her second year, and had no interest in going after what had happened in the past, but she wasn't going to say no to dancing. She glanced around at a small group of first years staring up, and she didn't blame them.
Looking up Libby saw another Slytherin, and even to her own suprizment, found herself throwing her arms round her neck as Larissa stood in a gaze. "Yes. I should probably tell you what happened" she said, but now wasn't the time. It was hard to explain at the best of times, and Libby had no idea whether she would have some connection with him.

Larissa did not bat an eyelash at Liberty. She just remained there, staring. But it wasn't an intense stare, oh no, Larissa had long since perfected the eye-rolling stare, that fixed look which fell in a category somewhere between amusement and annoyance. She blanked the words that Liberty had said to her, and instead, focused on those which had been said to Sam. "I have the.. Pleasure of attending the ball this year with a date." She wasn't going to say anymore unless she was asked. At the time of her bidding, she had not thought about the consequences of actually having to go to the Yule Ball with the boy she 'won'. Then again, at least it was somebody she stomach.

"I take it, then, you are planning to go?" Her eyes remained glued to Libby in the same way that licking a frozen lamppost sticks one's tongue to it until the fire-brigade arrive. Of course, all this reminded Larissa that she would need a dress.. She would have to buy it, subtly- it would not seem polite to have Mark see it and find out about the ball, when they had become so close.

Libby looked at Larissa growing increasing nervous as to why she was becoming so, something, she couldn't put a word to it, "No. I did leave. But, i live with my brother now." she said, knowing this would just confuse Larissa. "Not Cedric. Tobias." she explained. She didn't want to get involved in her affairs, not today. "I've come back. Just me." she said, as her siblings remained elsewhere.
Deciding to move on from this subject quickly, she noticed how much Larissa hadn't changed in the way she acted. "How are you?" she asked, trying not to turn her back on the others.

Larissa's expression did not change in the slightest. She nodded her head very slightly; she was determined to remain cold towards Liberty for.. Well, the rest of her life. If someone had told Larissa her future right at that moment, she would have laughed in their face. But time was already written and it could not be changed dramatically. Larissa had no idea who Tobias was. "As well as one with a hat full of stress can be." Larissa had always enjoyed using expressions to term everything which had no physical appearance. Oddly, she was reminded of the Thestral she had seen in Care of Magical Creatures class. "Yourself?" She asked coldly.

Libby had no idea why Larissa was acting so stubborn towards her. It wasn't as though she'd done anything wrong. Her mood had dropped entirely and Libby didn't want to persist. "I'm fine" she lied, not showing how she really felt. Turning back to Sam and Hoshi she gave them a small apologetic smile. "I guess some things just take time to sink in" she commented, hoping that Larissa would be able to forgive and forget whatever she seemed to have done wrong this time.
Libby has cursed herself recently for being so low, and she wasn't ready to fall back in that pit again.

Sam's eyes moved from Libby as Larissa joined them in there...gathering? He brought a hand to his head and scratched it awkwardly as she passed a couple of words to Libby. When she acknowledged his presence, Sam's greeting was just as abrupt as her own; "Hey." He didn't have anything against Larissa, he knew she was one of Hoshi's good friends...and he realy didn't have a clue what kind of friendship she had with Libby but she had never done anything on him. He barely spoke to the girl except maybe at some of Hoshi's insane birthday parties, so Sam was going to give her the benefit of the doubt and be pleasent with her.

However as herself and Libby began to talk about things that Sam hadn't a clue about, he began to feel a lot more awkward than he orignally had. Although Sam had grown up and matured a lot, he still was very uncomfortable in these kind of social situations. Sam looked at Hoshi briefly to see if she had some sort of idea what was going on but other than that Sam kept his mouth closed and shoved his hands into his jeans pockets. Even though Sam sucked at reading people or picking up obvious factors in someones body language and the way they spoke, he could tell that the conversation between Libby and Larissa wasn't exactly friendly. Sam caught the apologetic smile from Libby and he smiled back, yet her comment still confused him and so he went back to looking at his feet without saying a word. It was always the safest thing to do at times like these.

Hoshi moved her hip against Sam and laughed. "Whatever you say Sam-kun." She said playfully. Hoshi was flirty by nature and the fact that Sam payed no attention to her like that made all the more fun because it meant that she could flirt all she wanted and nothing would come of it. The was especially good seeing as she had a boyfriend. He was a quiet one but as it turned out Hoshi didn't mind that he was quiet that much. Hoshi smiled wide when Laissa came into the room but that smile quickly became a bit of a frown. "Any idea what's going on?" She asked Sam in a whisper.

They where her friends but still what was going on had her seven levels of confused. Never mind that emotional things had never been her strong point. Hoshi decided to pick up on what Larissa had said about having a date to the dance. "Ohhh are you talking about the auction thing? If I wasn't taken I would have tried to buy myself a cutie." She said with one finger up. Hoshi was joking of course. She would have bid of course but they would have gone to the ball as friends.

It was when Hoshi interrupted Libby's and Larissa's conversation that Sam looked up, "Taken? By who?" He asked quickly, it wasn't that he was jealous Sam just knew the rotten luck Hoshi had with love and he was obliged to be a little...or very overprotective of her seeing as she was his best friend. Sam didn't care that his input might have stopped the conversation between Libby and Larissa, or at least put it on hold. Sam hadn't been aware that Hoshi had a boyfriend, he wasn't even aware that she liked someone in that way. As he waited for a reply he listed the boys in his head, that would even be close to good enough for his friend, the list wasn't at all long.

Sam secretly prayed that it wasn't Henric, he was never good enough for Hoshi. But now that he thought about it the Slytherin boy seemed to have done the disappearing act on the lot of them. Not that it bothered Sam, he always felt he was a bit of a creep. Sam folded his arms across his chest once more as he waited for Hoshi's answer to his question.

As the convocation fell to who they were going with the yule ball, and whether they were seeing anyone, Libby went quiet. She didn't know if she should mention her own hopeful-to-be, and it suddenly spurded something in her head. "Durmstrang students can't be invited to the yule ball can they?" she asked, remembering the only time the schools had been together was in the Triward Tournament. It was too bad. Libby knew who she would ask if she could.
Content on just listening to the chat of her classmates, her head turned to one to another as she tried to work out who 1) Hoshi was being "taken" by, and 2) whether Larissa was still going out with Mark. Libby found Mark rather creepy. Ever since she'd invited him to her birthday two years ago, Libby had a strange feeling that trouble hung around him, mind you, Larissa could at times too.

Larissa did not care much for the sudden change in conversation which Hoshi brought on. In fact, she welcomed those few minutes of her own silence, in which she stared at Libby, dark orbs refusing to move. Naturally, she was curious to know who Hoshi had deemed good enough to take her to the ball, but for the time being, Larissa remained cold and intimidating, focusing all her energy on Liberty. She would miss the good times they had had together, granted, but she had to keep moving, had to keep pushing herself on through her life.

"No," Larissa replied to Liberty, her tone not wavering even for a second, "only students within the school." The rules of such things were something Larissa had already acquainted herself with. She had managed to stop herself from adding that members of staff and other species were not suitable dates for the Yule Ball. Having voiced her opinion, Larissa had fallen silent once more, watching Liberty like a hawk.

Hoshi noticed that her announcing that she had someone had rippled through and now all eyes where on her. She looked around then smiled. The way Sam had asked her who her boyfriend was made Hoshi want to say Henric Lee just to mess with him. She wasn't that messed up though. "Sinclair Blaze. He's a quiet one but he's so nice to me and smart. Nothing like the boys I usually go after." She said thinking of the Lee-ish boys that she tended to look for.

She realized that her taist in boys had not been the best in the world. Mainly because she loved darkness even though she wasn't all that dark herself. Or at least a version of dark that made it seem like she was bright until the very last moment. She smiled wide and shook her head. "What? Is it rare for the deliciousness that is Hoshi Watanuki to have a dude?" She asked mock outraged. She wouldn't really be angry over something like this. In fact she realized that she really hadn't gone public with her relationship with Sinclair.

Sam looked at Hoshi before looking away as she revealed who it was that she was seeing. Sinclair Blaze? Sam recognised the name but couldn't put a face on the boy. He would definitely try to remember that name and at least try and pay attention during the roll call in class. Sam's eyes found Hoshi's once more as she said that he was 'so nice to her'. She seemed pretty happy about it and so Sam wasn't going to pry about it further...at least not with Larissa and Libby standing there. In the end of the day, if Hoshi was content with things, that boded well with Sam. He unfolded his arms and they fell to his sides as he shrugged, "Well...I look forward to meeting this guy at the dance then." There was no tone of question in Sam's voice, he would meet this guy either at the dance or before, either way worked for him.

The seriousness from Sam's voice left instaneously however, at Hoshi's question, Sam chuckled lightly before commenting, "Nah. I'm just surprised that there's a dude brave enough to date the deliciousness that is Hoshi Watanuki." Sam's smile widened into a grin almost as if to say 'touche'. He was only playing with her though, any guy was lucky to have Hoshi, Sam just had to make sure that the guy was deemed good enough, for his Hoshi.
