It was quite foggy when Reeve arrived to the pitch, the grass wet with dew and a slight breeze caressing his face. But by the time he'd finished setting up the school brooms and pitch, visibility was greatly improved though the fog wasn't totally gone. It would make for an interesting game should it persist.

Reeve greeted the captains as they appeared, waving them over to review the rules with them ahead of the season's start.

OOCOut of Character:
Arrivals only please. I encourage all players to use the time before the game begins to refresh your memory of the rules and gameplay.
Captains: Please make sure your teams are set in the QCP prior to posting your lineup.

Lilith was unusually nervous for the game. This time both her siblings were at the school and one of them was in the team playing against hers. She felt like she had a lot to do to impress the younger ones, not to mention the leaf that was currently residing in her mouth, it meant she’d have to keep her mouth shut the whole time she was up there and any form of celebration or deep exhale from frustration was out of question. A lot was on the line for her she realized, but it was good things. Arriving to the pitch Lili began stretching as she waited for Lucy to hand in their lineup and have a little speech, suddenly feeling incredibly glad she wasn’t in the older Ravenclaws shoes right now. Holding a speech with the leaf in her mouth would be a bane.

Juniper wished she was sick all of a sudden. She felt like throwing up as she walked to the pitch to meet the rest of her team. Maybe she could fake a flu and Susie would sit her on the bench? Maybe… maybe. No. Settling alongside her teammates the third year raised her gaze to the sky, trying to keep her breaths steady.

Maggie felt, mostly, ready for the game today. She knew she had a job to do - protect her team from the Hufflepuff beaters. It seemed easy enough, but games were going to be much different than the practices she'd become accustomed to. The Ravenclaw pulled her hair back as she waited for the game to start, gripping her broom and looking for Beatrice in the stands with her pep club, hoping the cheers would get her confidence up.

Nox was excited to get the new season underway, he made his way to the pitch and waited with his team. He really wanted Hufflepuff to win the cup that year, he couldn't stand how smug his dad had become about his unbeatable Gryffindor team. He was even more insufferable than usual.

Rose didn't expect to play but she still made her way down to the pitch with the rest of the team, ready to fill in if needed. She was a little apprehensive to see how well Ravenclaw did and whether they'd qualify to be one of the top two teams this year, although she had confidence that Lilith would catch the snitch for the Hufflepuff Seeker did.

Leena was a ball of nerves the moment she got down to the pitch. It was made a little more reassurance to look across and see her older sister standing just a few feet away with the Ravenclaw team, but the first year couldn't free herself from the idea that she was about to embarrass herself in front of the whole school and her classmates. She was a first year and first years rarely made the team. Today she was going to have to prove herself. She'd be glad if Ravenclaw won, for Lilith's sake, but that didn't mean she didn't want to see the Badgers come out on top.

Sofi was feeling nervous about this game and didn't want to make a fool of herself with everyone watching, especially her siblings, well maybe not Morrie because she would bet money her sister would not be watching, but her half brother most probably was, and that made Sofi nervous. She took a deep steadying breath and joined her team on the pitch feeling acutely aware that the odds were against her to catch the snitch before the Ravenclaw seeker did.

Violet was ready for her last year of Quidditch and promptly made her way to the pitch for the game. She gathered around with her team as they waited for the game to start.

Did Lucy feel just a little bit sick as she made her way onto the pitch? MAYBE. This year was Lucy's last chance to prove herself; as a captain, as a player... it all came down to this, and even losing a single match would mean closing out her time at Hogwarts as a failure, in one regard at least. It was unacceptable. They had had a great practice, and she had to believe that her team would carry through and come away victorious. Everyone was working so hard and so well together, and she had to believe that this would be their year.

After handing in the lineup to Reeve and shaking Susie's hand, Lucy returned to her team. "Okay guys, this is it!" She grinned, hoping her nerves didn't show too much. "We've practiced so hard, I know we can do it! You guys are all amazing, so let's all just give it everything we've got and have a fun match." She looked around the assembled team, a pang hitting her as she realised that this was one of the last times she would get to address them before a match, tearing up slightly. "I mean it, you guys are seriously amazing, and whatever happens today, I want you to be so, so proud of yourselves! I couldn't ask for a better team."

Hinemoa knew she likely wouldn't be playing today, and she couldn't help quiet relief at the thought. Practice had been a complete disaster, and she didn't want to humiliate herself and let the team down. She stayed uncharacteristically quiet as the team gathered, listening to Lucy solemnly. The team was... great, of course, but she definitely didn't feel like she had earned her portion of the praise. Her shoulders slumped, hoping Lilith would be able to win this quickly and she wouldn't have to go in.

Susie felt the weight of responsibility more heavily than ever as she trekked down to the quidditch pitch, got changed, and headed onto the grass. Had she coached her team well enough? Were they feeling OK? Had she remembered to tell them it was the taking part that counted? She shook her hands, dispelling some of her nervous energy, and picked up her broom. From this moment on, she wasn't Susie - she was captain Susie, and that, at least, was a role she knew how to play.

"Hey, guys. Come on. Don't be so nervous," she said, beckoning her team into a circle. A conspiratorial smile tugged at her mouth. "We're badgers. We look fluffy and cute, but we're mean, and we have sharp claws, and we never give up - yeah? Yeah! Don't be nice. Be ruthless. Be cunning. Be... be an a**! That's what sport is for. You get to be an a**hole, and everyone cheers!" Susie hesitated. That had sounded better in her head. "But, like, play by the rules, obviously." She slapped the nearest player on the back. "We're up. Let's go!"

Reeve cast the Sonorous Charm on himself after he'd determined all was in order with the lineups. “Today, Hufflepuff will be guarding the northern hoops, and Ravenclaw will guard the south hoops. Best of luck to both team and let's have a great start to the season!.” Reeve released the snitch and bludgers. He flew up into the sky with the quaffle, tossing it into the air with a "GAME ON!"

OOCOut of Character: Game notes, please read

1. Be sure to review the rules [please note the change to snitch capture value]. Any questions regarding the rules should first be addressed to your captain(s). Captains may PM me for any assistance needed.
2. If you have any issues seeing the score on the referee's first post or with your access to the quidditch system, please send a PM including both me and your captain(s). It may be that they've forgotten to add you to the system or may be a bigger issue.
3. You should refresh the page before you post! Someone might sneak in a post while you are working on yours and first post counts.
4. You should always be pressing a button, whichever is appropriate for your game play during your post. Doing so boosts your success rate and allows the timer to kick in appropriately for players.
5. After a player is hit by the bludger 3x, gameplay should stop. This allows for a quicker return to game post- substitution.
6. The game is meant to be interactive, so read your fellow players posts before posting! Stick with the game from beginning to end, from kicking off the ground to touching back down! Have fun!

Lilith heard her brother call on the stands but had no time to glance the boys way as the whistle sounded meaning she needed to get in the air. Hopping onto her broom the Ravenclaw immediately began her search for the snitch, moving the leaf around her mouth to calm her nerves.

Leena felt as though she was sweating out of her palms. How was she meant to hold on to her broom and the Quaffle if she was all sweaty? She swiped her hands at her Quidditch uniform one last time, listening to Susie's words about how it was okay on this occasion to be an a**, encouraged in fact, and mounted her broom as confidently as she could.

The first year tried not to focus on the fact it was her sister on the opposing team, and told herself she just needed to do her very best. She was a cute badger with claws. Maybe all those misses in practice just meant that she was saving the real goals for the real game. Leena shot forward, immediately grabbing the Quaffle as it was thrown into the air

Juniper tried her hardest to smile at Susie's speech but she didn't want to be an a**hole... Her smile looked like she was just in pain. And as she heard the sound of the whistle Juni's body went into autopilot as she choked in a breath and hopped onto her broom, following Leena for support. This time she wouldn't have to steal from her teammates but hopefully she wouldn't have to steal at all..

Maggie was ready as soon as the ref blew his whistle. She quickly caught up to a bludger and tried to hit it towards the Hufflepuff seeker but watched as it instead sailed into one of their chasers. @Henri Fontaine

Susie was right, Sofi just needed some confidence. She nodded along then mounted her broom to start looking for the snitch.

Violet went straight up into the air and positioned herself in front of her hoops as the whistle blew. She kept a close eye on the young Hufflepuff chaser as she began to make her way towards her.

Once the match started Nox started flying around in search of a bludger to hit.

Lilith was aware the game had fully kicked off and there were now bludgers being smacked around and she'd seen from the corner of her eye as her sister had gone for the Quaffle instantly. Although pride bloomed in the prefects chest she kept strictly focused on the surroundings for any bit of gold she could see, but there was nothing yet.

Maggie was a little frustrated that her hit didn't go where she intended, but she knew it was just the start of the game. She took a breath and flew towards another bludger.

Leena looked from left to right, things were much more tense than they were during practise. "Juni!" she called out, tossing the third year the Quaffle as they approached the Ravenclaw hoops. Their own keeper had done well to block their attempts, but Leena had no idea how the Ravenclaw keeper faired.

@Juniper Veritas

Juni heard her name being called out and glanced the at Leena just in time to see the Quaffle flying at her. Grabbing it she cursed herself in her head as she started flying towards the hoops, knowing she should probably score but also knowing their team was now doomed because she was bad at Quidditch. She glanced back to Leena, unsure if she wanted the Quaffle, she'd have to decide soon.

Lili saw a glimmer in the distance or at least she thought she did. Starting to follow the glimmer she made sure not to get hit by any bludgers as she weaved her way through the other players.
