Kit was a little nervous to be speaking with the quidditch captain. She knew she was only an alternate, which meant they didn't have to give her a spot on the team next year. But she didn't think she had done terribly. She'd practiced outside of their team practices and had improved a lot on her coordination with the quaffle. Her scoring stats were still a bit low, but overall, she felt proud of her effort for her first year on the team. As she found herself near the courtyard, she sat on a bench, waiting for Pearl, trying not to feel overly nervous.

There weren't a lot of people on the team who wereready to take over running the team. She and the co-captain had gone over and over the names and eventually settled upon the one that would just have to work. She had arranged to meet with her. She spotted the girl easily and then moved over to her. "Hi Kathryne," she said, with an overly friendly tone, it was put on of course. "How are you doing?"

Kit looked up as Pearl found her and stood before sitting down again quickly, feeling pretty nervous. "Fine, how about you!?" she asked with a little more enthusiasm than she intended. Kit was not one to be nervous, but she had really enjoyed Quidditch and had kept her grades up, just like her mother had requested. She knew being an alternate was nothing to write home about necessarily, but she wanted to keep playing. She just needed more time. "Nice day, isn't it?" she added, thinking maybe being friendly would be helpful to whatever they were about to talk about.

Pearl gave a forced smile to the girl, Katherine, not opting for any nickname she might've heard being thrown around. Pearl glanced around and shrugged. "Sure, most days are nice," she said with a bored tone. "How would you like to be quidditch captain?" she said, ripping the band aid off, getting to the immediate heart of this conversation.

Kit blinked a little too much as she looked at the ground, pretty confused. How was she being offered captain when she was only an alternate? She cleared her throat and looked back at Pearl, trying to figure out what to say. She knew she had gotten better, but it wasn't like there weren't students who had been on the team way longer than she had. "Umm, I mean, well, yeah, I'd love to be captain! Can I ask..." she started, worried that she was going to stick her foot in her mouth. "I mean, can I ask like, what all do I need to know about being captain? I feel like I'm not super prepared, you know? Also, does this mean I still have to be an alternate or do I get to like - promote myself? Or is that weird?" she joked, throwing in a laugh as she finally quit rambling.

It wasn't really a surprise to Pearl that the girl accpeted, everyone wanted to be captain of the team really. "All you need to know if how to play quidditch, which you do," she knew there was more involved in it, but she didn't think now was the time to do that. "You've been promoted, by me and by Zoey," Pearl shrugged. "If the others kick up a fuss take it up with the professor,"

Kit was starting to get the feeling that Pearl wasn't very interested in helping her for whatever reason. She figured that most captains would want to see their team continue to be successful, but Pearl just seemed to tell her to do whatever, or at least, that was the way Kit took it. "Right, just play. That makes sense," she said with a laugh. "Well, tell Zoey thank you and thank you, Pearl. I promise that I won't let you down. I have a good feeling about this upcoming season," she lied, having no real feeling about this upcoming season. She could barely sort her thoughts in her brain at the moment. "Umm, another question-" she started to ask before deciding that maybe she should just read up on things instead. "Nevermind, I'll figure it out," she finished.
