Finley wouldn't really say he was adjusting to Hogwarts. He still thought a lot of it was a bunch of nonsense, but it was still an excuse to get away from the orphanage. And he had absolutely no desire to go back there. He never felt as though he was wanted there, then again, he didn't really feel anyone wanted him at Hogwarts, either. He'd made no attempts to get closer to any of his classmates, despite sharing a room and classes with a lot of them. Instead, he was more than content to be left alone. It was probably for everyone's benefit. It was better not to let anyone get too close and hold no expectations, then he could never feel disappointed when he didn't have any friends and it turned out no one actually cared.

As usual, he found himself alone at the Hufflepuff table, the spots on either side of him completely vacant. It was the end of the breakfast rush already, so most people had already started to drift out of the Great Hall. But not him. Not that he was still eating, but because he was busy quietly studying every person who happened to walk past. And that didn't change, not even when he felt the presence of someone standing there. But he didn't greet them, didn't even tell them to go away. Maybe they would get the message and leave him alone.

Zerrin was having a great time at school, he'd made plenty of friends. Still, there was always room to make more. He had so many options, too. He had a whole bunch of roommates, a party to arrange, Silas. Zerrin had finished eating, said bye to Gregory, started out of the hall. He'd realized once he was almost to the door that he'd forgotten his favorite pen at the table. He hurried back for it, realizing that on the way back there was another one of his roommates. Zerrin smiled brightly and immediately stole the spot by the boy. "Hi! Finley, yeah?" He asked, propping his chin up in his hand. "Morning,"

The longer he ignored the other person, the more he was very much aware that they clearly weren't going away anytime soon. This was just made more apparent when he felt someone sit down in one of the empty seats next to him. Almost automatically Finley moved a couple of inches further away, not even bothering to acknowledge who was sitting there. Not even when they started talking to him as well. He just made a grunting noise in the back of his throat, which could be either taken as a greeting or some vague attempt to tell whoever it was to go away already. He didn't say anything else, keeping his eyes moving around the room as he continued to people watch.
