Robin was hovering at the end of a street, some two hundred meters away from where Christa had told him to meet her at. He couldn't hover for much longer since he was already three minutes late, but nerves were starting to get the better of him and he hadn't even knocked at the front door yet. What if he knocked at the wrong house? What if he'd gotten the day wrong? What is Christa wasn't at home? What if she was angry at him for being late? What if the sky fell on my head? Rob added sarcastically to himself. Get a grip. You've been on too many dates to count, and you're not going to let this one get the better of you! It was easier said than done, but Rob simply shrugged his jacket up higher and began the terrifying walk. One step, two step, red fish, blue fish ... Damn you, Dr. Seuss. thought Robin as the rhyme began in his head. The circus children had a long tradition of filching muggle children's books to read from wherever they could find them. Dr. Seuss had been one of his favourites, but it was hardly the appropriate time to burst into poetry.
Argh! The door! thought Robin as he stood on Christa's front doorstep. Go on, knock. He was doing what his adoptive father liked to call 'the Swan Impersonation'; serene on the surface, little legs paddling furiously below. He stepped forward and knocked calmly, though anyone watching closely would notice him shuffling slightly from foot to foot. "Please don't be mad, please don't be mad." muttered Robin and almost leapt out of his skin when the door opened. "Ahh. Christa," said Rob, giving her a dazzling smile. Five minutes late ... was he going to get skinned?
