How are prefects chosen?

Prefects are usually chosen at either the end of second year, or start of third year. I'm pretty sure the admins have something to do with choosing prefects, as well as Head of House's. I think it's all to do with how active your character is, if their responsible enough and such .
But, I may be and probably are wrong, somewhere

I think Prefects get chosen in their fifth years now

I'm no expert but I believe they are chosen in going into their third year. The HofH recommends for their house and besides responsible, you need to have excellent grades as well. You may be active but if your character doesn't attend class or only does the attendance posts then you likely won't become a prefect.

One girl and one boy is chosen from each house. If their are no boys I believe they just chose a girl. We're usually short on boys.

I heard they moved the Prefects selection back to Fifth Year :wacko:

Indeed, Prefect selections are now chosen in their fifth year - as we have students in pretty much every year now. For a while they had been selected earlier on, but that was when we didn't have older members.

When Prefects are chosen is definitely mentioned in the General FAQ document. Freya has summed up the how quite well for you, too.
