It was the beginning of the semester. A whole new school year at Hogwarts and Xiuying was kinda happy to be back at school. She'd be away from her parents for a while. Quidditch try-outs were only a few days away, and Xiuying wanted to get as much practice in as she could, as she wanted to do the best she could, even though she practised a lot during her break. She had asked her brother if he wanted to come along for practice since she knew that he was going to try out again this year and was pretty bummed he hadn't made it last year. She waited for her brother to arrive at the pitch, so they could get started with practice. "You ready?" Xiuying called out in their language, as soon as she saw her brother.

He had failed to make the Quidditch team the previous year, but not this year. This year he was going to make it. He was absolutely sure of it. The short boy had been putting in a lot of work over the summer and he was way better than he had been this time last year. So his spot on the team was more or less guaranteed for sure. But some extra practice was never going to go amiss, which was why he was making his way down to the Quidditch pitch to get in some practice with his sister. "I'm always ready!" He called back in Chinese when he heard Xiuying, grinning as he jogged over to where his big sister was standing.

Xiuying chuckled at her brother's comment. She loved her brother's commitment. She mounted on her broom as her brother reached her, giving him a small smirk. "Race ya there then," Xiuying says as she replied back in English this time, and flew up into the sky. The adrenaline starting to pick up. She was excited to be back on the pitch and couldn't wait for the season.

There was a reason he preferred hanging out with Xiuying over Xinyi. His sister was actually cool and liked things like Quidditch and wasn't incredibly boring. "You're on!" He announced loudly at the challenge, quickly swinging a leg over his broom and kicking off into the air without any hesitation. There was no way he was going to lose to his sister.

Xiuying laughed as her brother quickly joined her in the air. "Race you from one hoop to the other? Loser is a rotten egg!" Xiuying called out to her younger brother. She knew that they should actually practice at some point, but she wanted to at least have some fun before doing so. Xiuying wasn't gonna admit it, but she did always enjoy spending time with her siblings.

Being called a rotten egg was just not an option for Jingyi. It also sounded pretty boring. "How about the loser has to buy the winner ice cream next time we're in Obsidian Harbour." Now that sounded more like a bet to him, and he always did fancy good ice cream. Especially if he didn't have to pay a single knut for it. And as he had absolutely no intentions of losing to his sister, then he was quite sure that he wouldn't be the one paying for it. And while the next break was awhile off yet, he was sure he would remember.

Xiuying smiled, maybe even smirked a little at the idea of what the loser had to do when they lost. "Now that sounds good to me!" Xiuying says with a chuckle. She had to be sure that she was going to win this. Even though she didn't mind paying for the ice cream, whenever that would be. But it was always fun to have some competition. The Ravenclaw girl made her way towards one of the hoops, so they could get the race started.

He was already thinking about what ice cream he was going to ask for when the time came. He wondered how much money he could get away with wasting, especially as it was going to be Xiuying who was doing the buying as he was most certainly going to lose this race. "Prepare to lose!" He did have to egg his sister on as well as he followed her towards the farthest hoop so they could get started. He was going to win this race and he certainly didn't mind cheating a bit to make sure that was the case.
