Open Power Kick!

Xiuying had been excited to be back at Hogwarts, and this time her siblings were here with her. Xiuying wanted to make the most of this year, and some new stuff. Though the girl didn't feel like trying anything new today. She had missed playing football (soccer). Yes, she had played a couple of times during the break, but she had been practising Quidditch a lot more, as she was trying out for the team, though she had doubts she would even be on the team. Xiuying made her way towards the Great Lawn, her football in hand. She stood in the middle of the lawn, thinking of where she could set up a goal, though she wasn't sure where she was going to place them. But for now, the girl had decided to do some juggling with the football with her feet.

Finn was getting a bit sick of the warm common room and all of the excited chatter around him. He'd tried to join in a few conversations but didn't really understand a lot of what his fellow Gryffindors were talking about. Spell names, quidditch teams, famous witches and wizards, it all went way over his head. He did, at least, know what Quidditch was, and secretly really wanted to give it a try. But instead of asking the other Gryffindors how to play, he got up and left the common room for some fresh air. Talking in groups had never been his thing.

Finn made his way down to the entrance hall, only getting lost twice, and out into the watery spring sunlight. Feeling immediately better, Finn walked slowly down the lawn, not getting too close to any of the groups of students. After a few minutes he heard the unmistakable sounds of a ball being kicked. Looking around to his right, he saw a black-haired girl juggling a football, and couldn't help moving over to watch. She was good. Unable to help himself, Finn broke into a jog, eyes on the ball "Hey, wanna kick that around?" he called when the girl was in earshot. She looked about his age, maybe slightly older. Normally he wouldn't run up to strangers, but his usual tongue tied nature was eased by the presence of the soccer ball.

Xiuying looked up when she heard a voice, turning to see that it was a boy about her age and the girl smiled brightly. The Ravenclaw stopped what she was doing with the ball, using her feet to place it on the grass. "Sure!" Xiyuing calls out, as she then decides to kick the ball his way. "Better to play with someone than by yourself" Xiuying laughs and she makes her way towards the boy, only standing a few feet away from him.

Finn gave her a small smile in return, and concentrated on meeting the ball with his foot "Nice pass" he called out, kicking the ball up into the air and juggling it a few times as the girl came closer. A surge of energy pulsed through him. This was something he knew, something he was good at. After a few days of feeling behind on all of his lessons, and not understanding what a lot of his classmates talked about, being able to kick the ball and know intuitively where it would land, was a very nice feeling. As the girl came closer he squared up to her, then dribbled the ball quickly around her like he would an oncoming defenseman in a game. When he had a got a few feet away, he kicked the ball back to her, hoping she was try to get it past him this time
