Jenna was ready for her first real date. Sure it was a blind date, but everyone started somewhere. She was grown up enough to be at Hogwarts now, and getting dressed for the ball had only made her feel more grown up. She had always loved watching teen drama shows as a kid, dreaming of the exciting, dramatic life she would have in her own teens once she was finally old enough to go to Hogwarts. And now she was here, it was happening. She wasn't even a teen yet. But here she was, dressed up to the nines, waiting for the boy who would hopefully be the prince charming she dreamed of. If she could land a perfect hunk this early in her time at school, she would have no trouble at all making sure they were the school's number one power couple for their entire time at Hogwarts.

Classes were finally over, and Weston couldn't wait to celebrate. And what better way to celebrate than a school-wide party? He'd heard rumors about the food at the Yule Ball, the decorations, the music, and he was eager to experience it all for himself. Hopefully he would also make a new friend through the experience. The clubs had been setting up blind dates, and Weston had signed up as part of his quest to befriend as many people as possible. They'd paired him up with a "Jenna Irons," and he was eager to meet her. So as soon as it was time for the ball, he'd thrown on his best (and only) button-up shirt and raced down the stairs to the Great Hall.

It was at the Great Hall, surrounded by people dressed much more fancily than him, that Weston realized he had no idea what Jenna looked like. He knew that she was a girl and that she was likely around his age, but that didn't exactly narrow things down a lot. As he wandered around the entrance of the Great Hall looking for someone who looked Jenna-y, he realized he probably should have owled her ahead of time to figure out a place to meet. But it was too late to do that, so he did the next best thing and started to stop random people to ask if they knew a Jenna Irons. It took many attempts before he ended up in front of a girl in a yellow dress who was standing alone and looked like a possible Jenna candidate. "Hi! Are you Jenna Irons? Or do you know her? I'm Weston, her blind date."

Jenna didn't want to use the word disappointed, but as a boy came over and introduced himself as Weston, she couldn't help but think this wasn't what she had expected. He looked.... fine, she supposed, but nothing like the superhunk she had been dreaming of. Jenna tried not to let her disappointment show on her face though, giving the boy a quick smile. She might as well make the best of this, the date wasn't necessarily ruined just yet. "Oh, Weston!" She said brightly, smiling. "I'm Jenna, obviously. I guess we're dates then!" She smiled, brushing her hair back and waiting silently for him to compliment her on how pretty she was.

Weston nearly gave a sigh of relief when the girl confirmed that she was indeed Jenna. Now he didn't have to spend any more time searching for her, and they could start actually enjoying the party. "Great! I was starting to think I'd never find you." Turning slightly, Weston got a proper look at the Great Hall for the first time, and for a few seconds, he stared, wide-eyed. The older students hadn't been lying. Everything looked incredible, and he couldn't wait to join the festive mass of celebrating students. He glanced back at Jenna. "What do you want to do first?" Hopefully by the night's end, they'd find time to do it all, from dancing to opening presents to sampling desserts.

Jenna rolled her eyes and laughed at Weston's comment, still determined to make the best of it. "I've been right here the whole time, you telling me you looked right over someone this pretty?" She teased, simultaneously trying to remind her date that he hadn't even told her how pretty she was yet. If he wasn't going to compliment her what was even the point of all this? But Jenna was making the best of things, so when Weston asked what she wanted to do she grinned brightly. "Dance, obviously!" She grinned, waiting for Weston to offer her an arm and escort her to the dance floor. Maybe if he could act like a gentleman this could still be saved.

Weston gave Jenna a confused smile. "I didn't know you would be pretty...?" He wasn't sure how her logic worked since he was fairly sure a person's name and their appearance weren't necessarily related. For a second, he tried to puzzle out her statement before deciding it didn't matter since he'd found her. Now they could do more important things, like dance. Weston nodded enthusiastically, glad to see she was as excited as he was. "Let's go!" he grinned at her and reached for her hand, intending to lead her onto the dance floor.

Jenna's face dropped at once as Weston spoke. This was not even remotely close to the prince charming scenario she had dreamed of. "So you thought I would be ugly?!" She snapped, giving him an unhappy look. She took Weston's hand begrudgingly and let him lead her to the dance floor, regretting this date more than ever.

Weston frowned, his confusion deepening. "What? No! I meant, I didn't know what you would look like, so I didn't know how to find you. All I had was your name," he said quickly, panic edging his voice. Jenna was clearly unhappy, and he wasn't completely sure why. And now that he was trying to explain his thinking, he was starting to confuse himself. It had made much more sense in his head.

By some miracle, they ended up on the dance floor. Weston dropped Jenna's hand and gave her a worried look. "...Do you still want to dance?" He hoped so. The music was good, and he was still kind of hoping they'd be friends. Weston hated it when people were upset with him, and he was beginning to think he'd done or said something wrong. The only problem was he couldn't quite figure out what had caused her sudden change in attitude.
