Picking up the pieces

[Olivia Havelock]

Olivia had considered not attending the Yule ball at all, she had been getting close to Maddie during the semester and since she was single had considered asking her to the ball, after all she hadn't stopped thinking about their kiss at the Valentines dance since it happened. Then Olivia had seen her with some guy, she was disappointed Maddie hadn't told her, they were friends after all. Olivia spent most of the night alone, she ran into a few of her sisters from Heta Omega, she even spotted her actual sister but kept away from her. It was still quite early but Olivia was considering going back to her dorm, but then she spotted Maddie, she was with two boys, one looked like he was shielding her from the other. It was strange, the one she was being shielded from was the boy she saw her kissing. Olivia didn't want to, but she couldn't help but watch what was unfolding, it looked passionate but she couldn't hear what was being said. She waited as the boys argued between themselves and then headed outside leaving Maddie on her own. She looked like she needed someone so Olivia made her way over to her, "Maddie, what was that, are you ok?" She asked putting one arm around her.

Maddie shook her head at Olivia's question. She didn't know how to explain the situation, it was so twisted and it could only have been created by Ezra Cade. She had no idea what the brother's went outside to do and she almost didn't want to know. She was so tired of Ezra and after that night she knew that his power over her was truly over and she felt like she could breath a little better. She turned to look at Olivia and smiled for the first time in a long time. Maddie instantly went in for a hug and held onto Olivia tightly without saying a word. When she finally broke away from the hug she ran her fingers through her hair "I don't even know where to start! Ezra Cade is just sick and twisted! You don't want to know!" she exclaimed.

Liv was surprised when Maddie went straight in for a hug but the Ravenclaw wasn't one to complain, she put her arms around the girl and hugged her tightly until she felt her pulling away. "What did he do?" She asked. Liv didn't know Ezra Cade personally but she knew him by reputation and it wasn't a pleasant one, though if she were honest Liv was a little disappointed that Maddie ever had anything to do with Ezra in the first place. "You can talk to me Maddie," She added. Liv blushed as Maddie ran her fingers through her hair, it was an unexpected move but one she appreciated all the same. When Maddie's hand was free of Liv's hair she took hold of it and smiled reassuringly at her.
