It was hard to believe that the final semester of his last year of Hogwarts New Zealand had creeped up on him so quickly, but so quiet that David didn't even realise what was happening until he dawned on his robes and Prefect badge for the last first time at the start of a semester. Everything was the same as it had been the past 6 and half years, the Headmistress welcomed everyone back to the second semester of school and they had a big feast. David stayed out of all the chatter that his fellow Hufflepuffs and other students from surrounding house tables were having around him. He could of talked to anyone around him but he was feeling somewhat sentimental and felt like spending the feast in silence and reflecting on his time so far at Hogwarts New Zealand and what his life was going to be like once he left. He already knew what it was going to be like and he couldn't wait to turn the apprenticeship that he had during the holidays to be his full time job and follow his fathers footsteps and his fathers father before that and so on. As soon as the feast was over David got up and started to gather a few of the wondering Hufflepuffs who seemed to have forgotten protocol after a welcome back feast. Along with his fellow prefects he lead the Hufflepuffs back to their common room. Once he was sure everyone was in and settled he left the common room to go to the Prefect common room. No doubt Samuel and Aphrodite would have the duties pinned up for the Prefects and David wanted to be prepared for when he had first duty and not to be rushing in the morning to check just to see he was probably late - which wouldn't be a great start to the relationship with his new patrol partner. He wondered who he was going to get this time round, he didn't mind his last partner but they didn't talk much and it made patrols, long, awkward and boring. Entering the Prefect common room his acknowledged the other people already there, probably doing the same as him. Not wanting to lag behind as he was quite tired already he headed over to the notice board and took note of his check in time, partner and patrolling location, and just as he figured, first thing tomorrow morning. Rolling his eyes he made his way back to his room for a good nights rest.

Raising good and early the next morning he was happy to see the sun shining as he was to patrol the grounds this morning with Jeanette Jenkins. He knew the girl vaguely from class and whatnot, she seemed friendly enough but he didn't know her personally. Making his way to breakfast and getting a quick bite to eat his headed outside to the meeting point for he and his partner to meet and start their patrolling. The grounds were already starting to full up quite a bit with people catching up after the holidays, definitely one of the best things about having a day or two off before classes start. Reaching the meeting point he realised that had over estimated his time, so he sat down on the grass enjoying the sunshine while he waited for Jeanette.

Jennette still found it hard to wrap her head around the fact that she was in her final year at Hogwarts. Even more so she still could not believe that she was a prefect, despite the fact she had been so for a few years now. As Jennette stood in front of the mirror in her dorm room pinning the prefect badge to her Gryffindor robes it suddenly hit her that soon she would be leaving the comforts of Hogwarts and would be thrown into the real world. The semester had began like any other, introductions given by the headmistress, and the feast. When the feast was over Jennette's prefect duties were due to begin so she gathered the first year students and lead them back to the Gryffindor common room, once she got them settled and to their dorms Jennette left the Gryffindor tower and made her way to the prefects common room to learn her assignment. It was late but there was still other prefects in the common room, Jennette kept her head down and headed straight for the notice board to find out who her partner would be and what their duty was.

It was a very early morning for Jennette when she woke up to assume her prefect duties, she would be patrolling the grounds with David Thrakos the Hufflepuff prefect. Jennette didn't know David very well, she had seen him around in classes and at prefect meetings but she didn't know him personally. She hoped this might change as if the two didn't talk their duty would be very boring. When Jennette arrived on the grounds she found David sat on the grass awaiting her arrival so as she drew closer she called out to him, "Lovely morning for patrol," She said with a broad smile on her face.

I'm so sorry, I've had no laptop for a while and only have my phone for the internet :(

David looked over the mass of people that were outside at the moment, his eyes locked on a group of first years. They weren't making any trouble or anything they were just talking and laughing; probably catching up after the break. He frowned slightly; he had never made any close friends at his time at Hogwarts and now his time was nearly over. Merlin, that sounds morbid. he thought to himself. Morbid as it may be it was unfortunately true, he made a few acquaintances along the way but none that he could call friends let alone best friends. Well at least outside of school he wasn't a complete loser. At his apprentice he had a load of friends but then again it was easier as they all had the same interests or else they wouldn't all be there. Be that as it may he wished he had been a bit more sociable while at school, they were meant to be the best days of your life and he had very few fond memories. He had tried, joined all the right clubs and even tried his hand at Quidditch one year but he never seemed to be able to make much of a statement in the clubs and was just there in the background. That was one of the reasons he was so surprised when he became prefect, he never even thought that many people noticed him enough to even be considered as prefect but here he was, maybe he had made more of an impact than he thought.

Hearing footsteps behind him David didn't look up until he heard a voice form behind him. Looking up he saw Jeannette, at least he hoped it was her because that's who he thought she was and it would be embarrassing if he thought she was someone different. Although this time he didn't have to worry about that seeing as she mentioned the patrol. Standing up he patted is robes a bit, getting any grass off them. "It is." He said in agreement. "Shame it had to be the first thing, but someone has to do it." He said with a small shrug and a slight chuckle escaping through his laugh. "Shall we start?" he asked, hoping this wouldn't be awkward.
