Being out of school was truly a blessing, Sage had never had more time, and she had never enjoyed herself so much, since graduating she had been doing exactly what she wanted, whenever she wanted. The girl had taken the time to visit her old neighbourhood, spend time with her father, go out with friends, make new ones and on top of all that, she was once again able to spend time with Ferds. The moment she had seen him at her graduation, and the moment they'd been able to leave had been great moments for her. She did not love Ferds, they were merely friends who occasionally enjoyed each other's company in between the sheets, she did not want to be with him in any way that meant emotions, they were friends that was all. Sage was by no means interested in him in anything other than as a friend and occasionally someone who helped her relieve some of her stress. They had been at his house for a few days, with his parents out of town and them house sitting, and Sage had pulled herself out of bed, thrown on a few lose items of clothing and ventured into the kitchen. She caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror and used her reflection to tidy her hair, and tie it up into a loose bun, just to make sure that it was all out of her face. She felt good, things were just good, so much more enjoyable than school, and really boy was Sage glad to be out of that place. Her last year, while fun was not what she had imagined it would be like, without her friends, or well, her few friends it had really been quite awful, and the simply pathetic head girl had done nothing to help Sage's feelings towards the end of the term.

Wandering into Ferds' kitchen, bare feet making soft sounds against the floor, the former slytherin prefect reached the fridge and pulled out a fresh bottle of water, opening it up and without thinking about sharing it she took three large gulps of the water, glancing around at her surroundings as she did so. Sage was enjoying this time where she didn't have to do much. It was a lot more enjoyable that rushing between classes at school, but her life was missing something, she wasn't sure what it was currently but she didn't have much to do, and this definitely bored her. Especially in her final years of school Sage had been busy, then all of a sudden it had all come to a stop, and while happy with her freedom, and everything else, Sage wanted to do more, she needed something else. Sighing every so slightly Sage put down the bottle of water on to one of the counters unsure of what else to do, the faint early afternoon sun filtering through the windows and giving the slightly messy living room the kind of warm spring glow. Sage liked his house a lot, she'd been looking for something for herself, but so far had been unsuccessful in her searches, spending her time with him, and this house was better for now. "Ferds, I'm bored," she called out to him, hoping that he would at least make her something to eat, or just something. She was bored, but this boredom was not because of where she was currently, but more that Sage was bored about her prospects and wanted something more to do.

It was needless to say that endless possibilities, and not being tied down with responsibilities grew boring to people over time, but there was something about the amount of freedom Ferdinand had discovered since leaving school that he would never grow bored of. He was unsure whether it was the opportunity to do what ever he wanted when he wanted, without worrying about class the next morning or if it was the fact he had no ties with people, that he was single and friendless with the exception of Sage and Lux, and could drop everything he once considered home to have a fresh start in some remote place of the world if he ever needed to. Regardless of the reason, Ferdinand loved being out of school and would not trade his freedom or the situation he was in for anything. He could come and go from his parent's house at his own free will and frequently house sat for them when they traveled. Much to his surprise considering dear mummy and daddy thought of him as this useless, lost cause of a son ever since he had chosen to defy the path in life they laid out for him. But he wasn't complaining. After more than a year without attempting to find a job or something to do with his time that did not involve partying and spending time with Sage between his bed sheets he still lived with his family for free and wanted to make the most of everything before it was too late and his lack of caring and lack of interest to be a responsible adult in the big wide world caught up with him.

Ferdinand rolled over in bed and shut his eyes, wanting to let the haze over his mind to take over while he attempted to ignore Sage as she wandered downstairs. He wanted to relax and maybe drift into the comforts of an afternoon nap if his body would allow him to, but Sage's voice calling for him had already echoed through the house and began to ring in his ears which stole all hope he had of catching a wink of sleep before he could relax in any sense of the word. With a sigh, he reluctantly got out of bed and threw on on a conveniently placed pair of sweat pants and a t shirt and made his way downstairs to the kitchen to be met with the sight of Sage, inherently bored, and the sight of one of his bottles of water opened and placed on the counter. In the moment he fought the urge to be sarcastic, to call Sage out for drinking his goddamned water again though he instead chose to actually help his friend out of her boredom. "What am I supposed to do, huh?" He still sounded sarcastic in his remark despite choosing not to sound sarcastic but with his mind still dazed and his body begging for sleep he could not help it. After giving Sage's dilemma a moment of thought, he turned on his feet and stepped towards the small wine rack in the living room, picking up the first bottle he saw. Wine definitely was not his drink of choice nor would it ever be, it was merely the only kind of alcohol his parents kept in the house and the only kind of alcohol he could inconspicuously replace before they returned from their trip. "Alcohol cures everything." He pulled the cork from the bottle and retrieved two wine glasses from the cupboard which he quickly filled with the crimson liquid. "Bottoms up." He smirked as he took one of the glasses and sipped. If she refused to drink the wine Ferdinand would just shrug, there was nothing he could do to help Sage feel less bored besides offer her alcohol to numb her senses and lower her inhibitions. They were in a cottage that was basically in the middle of nowhere, for merlin's sake. Drinking their weight in sour tasting wine was their only option besides playing wizards chess for hours on end.

Sage got so easily bored, it just wasn't good for her, and really the only way she filled her time was with Ferds doing what they did and with others doing what they did, there was much to Sage's life beyond that, and while right now she didn't entirely care about it, the girl still grew easily bored and she always had to find herself something to do. Which was why despite this not being her home, she treated it like it was, and she certainly didn't care about his parents finding out what they were doing, she assumed that they knew about it. Sage leaned against the counter letting out a deep sigh, trying to figure out what she wanted to do, trying to figure out what Ferds might suggest once he got out of bed to join her in his kitchen. From her time out of school, the former slytherin had figured out that she wasn't exactly made for boring jobs, anything that didn't require her to think about more than two things were boring, she disliked bar work and anything of that nature and really her desire to pursue her interest in writing was only changed by the fact that she hadn't gotten the grades to be a professional writer like she had thought she'd be when she'd turned 11. It was no matter, Sage knew that eventually she'd find exactly what she wanted and would be good at it too, if it involved writing then she'd managed to win something amazing, the best of all the worlds which she loved, but really Sage had no idea what that could be, she had no idea what that could involve. Sighing heavily again, Sage sat up from the counter and took a long drink of the water, running her other hand through her hair as she attempted to get herself to figure out what could be done. This was just as Ferdinand walked into the room and obviously was unhelpful in curing her boredom, "I don't know, you're the former Ravenclaw, you think of something," she retorted with a shrug, obviously having no clue what they could do.

However Sage stayed where she was standing, carefully following what Ferdinand was doing as he clearly appeared to have come up with some way to alleviate their or more her boredom, which was definitely something she was willing to watch, after all, they could only get between the sheets so many times during the day. And of course the solution was alcohol, she rolled her eyes at him, but in no way protested to the idea, she believed it was just the right time in the day to begin again and she gave a small sigh but she really wasn't about to say no to the drinks, instead she just watched him pour the wine into two glasses and hand her one of them, she thanked him quietly and then took a sip of the wine, since she really had nothing better to do, and as Ferds had said, alcohol cured everything, and that definitely included boredom. She was sipping the glass lightly still trying to think of something else to do, it wasn't like they could just leave, aside from with apparition but they were in the middle of nowhere and she had no strong desire to put proper clothes on, "You need to tell your parents to get some more stuff we can do," she told him taking a long drink of the wine, "We need something more to do," she told him, even if he wasn't actually going to be interested in what they might do, but she was sure with the right idea he might be swayed, she just needed any idea. Sage sipped the wine and just sighed, "This is so boring, getting drunk is fine, but it's not an instant thing," she whined holding the glass in her hand, "I mean, we're not like that slytherin girl from my year, Mandalyn or something who'd probably get drunk with one sip of light beer, she's just so stupid," Sage scoffed a little as she took another sip of her wine.

Ferdinand continued to sip from his glass of wine, swirling it slightly in his hand and inwardly cursing the alcohol tolerance in his body when he realized how slowly the wine would affect him. He considered giving up drinking and attempting to find sleep in his bed again because he knew that when the alcohol eventually kicked in, it would do nothing to cure his already hazed mind and that waiting to feel his senses dull and his fingers turn numb would only trap him further into the boredom he was feeling. But he continued to sip, not allowing the pace he was consuming the wine to falter and reminding himself that there was no other way he and his ex Slytherin friend could alleviate their boredom that they had not already done today. Ferdinand frowned slightly as Sage mentioned his parents and downed another mouthful of wine in response. Alcohol was by far their only option and he was going to make the most of the alcohol they did have, no matter how foul tasting and cheap it was.

He licked the wine's bitter taste from his lips and went to refill his glass as Sage moved the subject to a girl she knew from school. He muffled a laugh behind his glass at the name, needing to question it because it sounded so ridiculous he refused to believe he heard it right. "Mandolin? Like the instrument?" All Ferdinand could think about was that unfortunate name, how that girl's parents must have hated her and if she was ever made fun of in school because of it. Ferdinand didn't exactly draw the lucky hand with his own name, but at least his name didn't sound like it had been carelessly pulled from a hat and he had a not so terrible nickname to fall back on. Gosh, some parents really knew how to pick 'em. Ferdinand was so focused on the stupid sounding name to make the connection to who this Mandalyn girl was until much, much later after he had laughed at it more and after he had consumed a few more sips from his newly refilled glass. He paused his movements when the realization hit him. "Wait, Mandalyn." His eyes shot directly to Sage. "That's the girl that slapped you for no reason, right?" He remembered reading Sage's owls about some dumb, over emotional and dramatic blonde girl that slapped her out of nowhere. It didn't take long for Ferdinand to find the irony in their collective history with blonde women. "We have that in common. Being slapped by dumb blondes." He laughed again, swirling his glass out of habit. "Kind of makes me think that the stereotype is right and all blondes are stupid. Have you ever met a smart blonde, Sage?"

Sage slowly sipped on the wine as she stared out the window, just a moment savouring the bitter taste and enjoying the cool air, it was good she thought to be out of school, to be done with what she had to do for that place, though bored now, she could feel the slow kick in of the alcohol she was drinking on a mostly empty stomach, actually fairly glad now that she hadn't eaten too much before, while not the healthiest of things, the former slytherin knew that it would at least enable her to currently get drunker quicker and therefore be able to just enjoy that drunkness which would wash away her boredom, as she was sure it would do with Ferds, who was also drinking like she was. It was just a natural response to the lazy afternoon and the lazy day they'd had, natural to want to do something else, something other than what they had been occupying themselves with up until recently, and as Sage spoke of the girl from her year at school, that thankfully he had never met, she laughed lightly at his joke, "Mandalyn but yeah, like the instrument," she replied taking another sip of her wine and just shrugging a little, "I guess her parents really hated her," she told him with a further laugh, although most would claim that she was hardly one to talk give that her name was Sage like the herb, which wasn't the most normal of names but Sage also knew that her father loved her, she had no idea about this girl's family and could only assume they hated her enough to give her such an idiotic name, admittedly, she didn't often think of the girl, there could've been a time when they'd been friends, but not anymore, not since the slap.

As Ferds seemed to realise who she was talking about, Sage just nodded her head, "Yeah, her," she confirmed with a nod, "Still can't believe it, I complimented her, told her she could do better," Sage just laughed and took a small drink still a little in disbelief over what had happened in the common room that day, after all, she couldn't get over it, she had been bitter about it for most of the rest of the year, it always annoyed her that their pictures stood together in the yearbook on the graduates page, a constant reminder. Sage glanced at Ferds as he continued, remembering as he spoke about the girl who had slapped him, she remembered him talking about it, telling her about it briefly, and Sage just laughed, "What did you do again?" she asked, not quite remembering what he had done to merit such a slap, but sure that it was likely as silly as her reason for being slapped. The former slytherin just nodded in agreement, "I have never," she agreed, "Wasn't the head boy who didn't speak also blonde?" she asked trying to remember if he was or wasn't, "The one from the year above you?" she was trying to remember, but give that she cared so little for the pair that had been head boy and girl, that she felt that the boy could've only been blonde, Sage finished off her wine glass as she attempted to think back on it, picking up the bottle and helping herself to another glass.
