Leonardo had retreated outside, it was early morning, most people were just getting to the great hall for breakfast but Leonardo had already been up for a while. Someone had moved around in the dorm and it had woken him up with no chance of going back to sleep. So rather than lingering he'd gotten out of bed, gotten some food and then with his books headed outside to study. The sun was rising quickly in the sky and he knew in a few hours the grounds would be crawling with students, so he made sure to pick out a prime spot at the lake front, where he'd occasionally be in the shade with the nearby tree, but also mostly in the sun. After all the erratic learning from his grandfather, he had to admit the rigid structure of school ws something he liked. There was a charm to knowing exactly what each day held and not being at the whim of someone who really prided himself on spontaneity.
Leonardo had written to his father a few times but only really gotten one letter back, and it hadn't really answered any of his questions or even taken an interest in him it had been about his father's most recent thread. Leonardo had been friendly with some people at school, but he wasn't sure if any were friends. Felix was perhaps the closest but he was a dormmate and Leo felt that meant they couldn't be good friends without it being a little forced, then there was Niamh, but he wasn't sure if they were friends or just friendly. Truly the school and learning, had done nothing to cure his loneliness, just brought it sharper into view that he wasn't like his peers and maybe it just meant he didn't deserve friends.
