Leonardo had retreated outside, it was early morning, most people were just getting to the great hall for breakfast but Leonardo had already been up for a while. Someone had moved around in the dorm and it had woken him up with no chance of going back to sleep. So rather than lingering he'd gotten out of bed, gotten some food and then with his books headed outside to study. The sun was rising quickly in the sky and he knew in a few hours the grounds would be crawling with students, so he made sure to pick out a prime spot at the lake front, where he'd occasionally be in the shade with the nearby tree, but also mostly in the sun. After all the erratic learning from his grandfather, he had to admit the rigid structure of school ws something he liked. There was a charm to knowing exactly what each day held and not being at the whim of someone who really prided himself on spontaneity.

Leonardo had written to his father a few times but only really gotten one letter back, and it hadn't really answered any of his questions or even taken an interest in him it had been about his father's most recent thread. Leonardo had been friendly with some people at school, but he wasn't sure if any were friends. Felix was perhaps the closest but he was a dormmate and Leo felt that meant they couldn't be good friends without it being a little forced, then there was Niamh, but he wasn't sure if they were friends or just friendly. Truly the school and learning, had done nothing to cure his loneliness, just brought it sharper into view that he wasn't like his peers and maybe it just meant he didn't deserve friends.

Evie had been having the best time at Hogwarts so far. Her least favourite part however were the classes, despite some of them actually being fun. She didn't have any room in her head to learn about new things. She believed that the best things were learnt on her own. She had met a few nice people there as well, including Molly, and she already knew that the pair of them were going to be best friends forever. It was a shame that Molly was in a different house though, as she was sure they would be getting up to even more fun if they weren't.

With Evie's mind buzzing throughout the night with places in Hogwarts that she still had yet to explore, she hadn't managed to get much sleep. She waited until the sun began coming up before quickly changing into her robes and heading out onto the Hogwarts grounds. She had been thinking about what sort of creatures resided in the lakefront and genuinely thought that giant snakes with razor sharp teeth were a possibility. As she made her way there, she beamed as she spotted another student who was already out and about as well. She recognised him from the classes she had with Molly, and so happily made her way over to him. "Hey! What are you reading?" she asked, before quickly realising that she did not care. "What kind of creatures do you think are in the lake?" She wanted to know if his theories were any similar to hers.

Leonardo had found despite his loneliness that he was never physcially alone for long. It didn't take very long for someone to come join him, sit with him, have light conversation. he tended to always ruin it, but he was always with people. It was nicer than his muggle school, where his spotty attendance had resulted in most not bothering, but his inability to really feel like he'd formed the necessary bonds was hard. He therefore wasn't too surprised when someone joined him. He looked up at them, at her, and then down at his book. "I'm studying, exams are soon," he said it in such a manner as if it would've been wild for him to have been reading anything but a school book for his studies. "There are likely fresh water fish, some mermaids, and supposedly an eel," he replied while looking back down at his book. For all his lamenting over wanting a friend he knew he wasn't exactly making a good first impression but he had no idea how else to phrase his replies.
