I'm gonna be out of town when sorting begins and i have a few questions.
When does sorting finish?
and
Is there any way of my character being sorted before Jan the 17th?

Sorting opens on the 17th of January (sorry to hear that you'll be out of town ), and sorting will likely finish around the 1st of February.
Depending on your arrangements, you may be able to be sorted after that date, or possibly a few days before. You can PM me with more details (how long you'll be without internet access etc. ) and we'll see what we can do.
