hugo had been glad to see that he had a couple of professors on his delivery list. he hoped that they would be easier to track down than the cat and mouse game of students. he had decided to get those delivered over lunch trying each of their offices before going to the great hall to get food and catch them there if they were there. the first professor he was dropping it off to was one who he had heard a lot about. miranda tended to vent about her mum quite a lot. and while hugo could understand the relationship was awkward and strange especially with your mum teaching you he had found her a good teacher back when he was younger.
he knocked on the history professors door "Hello Professor Moncrieffe" he called and waited for a reply.

pink Rose for @Professor Gabrielle Moncrieffe. Title from a tour round my garden by alphonse Karr

Gabrielle half dreaded the rose deliveries. She felt bad about having freaked out a bit the first time a student sent her a rose, but she had been worried about how it would look. There had not been anything inappropriate going on, but she was cautious to keep a very firm boundary in place to avoid inviting the possibility of misunderstandings. It possibly hadn't been better when the comparison to a mother had come up. Merlin knew Gabrielle had enough hangups about that side of things as well. Generally she intended to stay well away, though she had sent a rose to Miranda, appropriately, for the optics of it. She hesitated when there was a knock at the door, but she straightened herself up and opened the door. She relaxed when she saw Hugo. He was a good student, and a nice young man. Miranda spoke highly of him, but Gabrielle already had a favourable opinion from teaching. "Hello, Hugo," she greeted warmly. "How can I help you?" She paused for a moment. "Miranda hasn't done anything awful, has she?"
