Fleur walked into the Great Hall on the night of Halloween. She dressed in a long trench coat and fedora the perfect outfit for a 1940's woman. She had learned about Britain's history growing up listening to her grandparents, who's parents were involved in the war efforts to destroy Hitler. As she prepared for this year over the summer it came to her attention that it had been a hundred years since that war, what a better time than to dress up as someone from that period. She loved the old murder mystery films that were all based during that time so that was her original idea. She knew a lot of people might not get her outfit without having to explain but she could care less. She had been rather excited when she met her new friend Riley Wespurt a Gryffindor in her year and learned he was planning on going as a soldier. He was the perfect match for her outfit. She wouldn't have to explain in great details who she was if they went to the Feast as a pair. He would clearly be a soldier and she a woman from the same time, she did think some might think she was going as his wife or something. She didn't have any badges on her trench coat so she was sure it was obvious that she wasn't a woman army member or anything like that, but she thought that might have been a better idea. Even though she found the color of the women's army outfit wouldn't really look that good on her. Fleur had thought about going as a land girl like her great-grandmother had been, but then that would need even more explaining and she was sure other witches and wizards wouldn't really understand that. The girl did think it was fun to dress up as a muggle, as they often dressed up as witches she thought it was fun to turn it around. Entering the Great Hall, Fleur glanced around, if she didn't want to have to explain in detail about her outfit she'd need to find Riley soon and attach herself to his arm so people knew they were a matching set, especially for the costume contest. She looked around but didn't see him right away so she moved over towards the food thinking he might be there.

Even though the Gryffindor only went to the feast to please his father and sister, Riley had actually been excited to go now that he had someone he enjoyed spending time with. He had decided to dress as a Word War 2 soldier since that costume had been by far the coolest one out of the four his parents let him choose from. As he walked into the great hall and looked around his lips curled into a smile. In his four years at Hogwarts, this was the first time he would attend the Halloween feast so naturally everything looked amazing and much better than the how it looked usually. He hadn't seen his sister yet but knew that she was going with someone as well so thought that it would be better not to bother her just yet. Now that he was here, he wanted her to know so that she would stop pushing him to be social so much. Riley walked up to the table with food and drinks and smiled when he saw Fleur standing there in her trench coat and silly hat. ''Hey!'' he said excitedly.

Fleur turned and smiled as she heard Riley's voice. She hadn't been this excited about Halloween, ever. Looking over his costume she was really surprised with how good he looked, he had even gotten dirt on his face to make it look like he'd been fighting. She put down the treat that'd been in her hand and did a little skip as she moved over to hug the boy. She was excited he was there, especially now since he was her match and they had to enter the contest together. Fleur wanted to enter the costume contest earlier in the night just in case anything were happen to their outfits. It really seemed like the Great Hall was decked out for Halloween. She couldn't decide if she like these decorations better than the Christmas ones or not. "Hi!" Fleur said during her hug, she leaned up and kissed the boy on the cheek not evening thinking it might be an odd greeting to him. It was something she was use to in her life at home that just became her. If she had any other friends worth talking to at the school she'd greet them in a similar manner, although probably not with the same excitement levels. "That outfit is amazing, I'm glad we found each other before the feast, although if we hadn't met before we probably would have here, having the same period costumes and all," she said with a bright smile. Riley was one of the first people at the school where she didn't want to be rude to, that was different for Fleur.

A little taken aback by the kiss she planted on his cheek, Riley nodded his head when she complimented him on his costume. Yeah, thanks.'' he said. ''If we hadn't met before Halloween, I would probably be bothering my sister and Leo right now.'' the Gryffindor told her truthfully. ''But yeah, eventually we would've stumbled across one another at some point during the night.'' he added in care his previous comment sounded harsh. Now that he had met up with Fleur he wondered what they were going to do next as he was sure that she had attended these kinds of events before and would know what else they could do other than talking because if that's what they were supposed to do all night, they might as well leave and hang out in the lounge again. ''So now what?'' he asked as he poured himself and her a drink.

Fleur was smiling as Riley was talking. Everything looked so wonderful around them, she really did enjoy the feast this year. She did think Christmas time and the Yule Ball was a little more exciting, but she wanted to dance and the Feast didn't really seem to be a dancing ordeal. "Destiny had other plans for us," Fleur said looking back to her date to the feast. She hadn't ever called it a date and neither had he, but not she did wonder if it technically a date. Would they consider it their first date later on if they got closer? Fleur wasn't sure, right now she was pretty much fine with not being like the other girls in her year dating every boy they came across. She knew she was good looking but that never meant she needed to have a boyfriend on her heel night and day. "I'm not really sure, I don't really remember last year's. I don't think I stayed too long I didn't place in the costume contest or anything. Have you eaten yet? We could grab some more food and head over to one of the corners and watch all the mummies and zombies walking by," she said with a laugh. She took the drink he offered her glad to have it as the air felt a little dry, or maybe that was her nerves drying out her mouth. The Slytherin wasn't sure why she felt nervous, maybe it was the mention of his sister and someone named Leo. She didn't really know those people and Fleur had a feeling Riley's sister might not trust her a whole lot because Fleur was a Slytherin. Truthfully Fleur knew why the hat put her in Slytherin, she could be cunning and was very capable of getting what she wanted, a confident person. But right now the thought the only person at the school that didn't annoy her when they talked being convinced to not talk to her because she was a Slytherin made Fleur nervous. "Maybe we could just leave as well and not stick around," she said overthinking the chance encounter between her and Elizabeth that could happen and she didn't want it to.

He listened attentively at Fleur as she talked about last year and considered the suggestion of standing in a corner and watching other people's costumes. It'd be a lot better than being in the centre of everything. He nodded when she asked if he had eaten something beforehand. ''Yeah but we could take some with us if you want to hang out in the corner?'' Riley asked. He was glad that he didn't have to dance at the feast because he wasn't a particularly good dancer and felt like he would only embarrass himself, and her if he would go dance with her. He titled his head when she told him perhaps they should leave rather than staying around. He thought it was odd for her to say that as she had been very excited to go to the Halloween feast with him and their matching costumes. Riley wondered if he had said something wrong and took a sip from his drink to give her time to change her mind even though he wouldn't mind leaving this place at all as it got busier and busier.

Fleur nodded to Riley suggestion and went along the table and took a plate and gave it to him and one for herself. She mostly grabbed bunches of fruit that were displayed along with one or two of the special treats. She herself had already eaten most of what she'd call her main meal before Riley had found it, seemed he had done the same. "Well let's eat in the corner for now and then decide if it's worth hanging around for longer," Fleur said turning and giving her friend a smile. She knew she didn't need to be nervous, she could be nice and she would be nice to Riley's friends and sister. She wondered if any of them would turn up while they were people watching in the corner. "Have you see the Professor dressed as the mummy? Pretty funny watching him walk around," Fleur said as she turned and pointed out the Professor.

Riley smiled as she handed him a plate and filled it with sweets and whatever else was on the table. He looked at where she pointed towards and chuckled at the costume the Professor was wearing. He didn't know who the man was so figured he would be teaching the older years. ''Pretty sure I saw a Christmas tree walking past me on my way to you,'' Riley told Fleur. He'd seen some really cool costumes walking around, but also a few that made him very uncomfortable. He picked a handful of sweets from his plate and shoved them into his mouth at once. If they decided on leaving he wanted to at least taste some of the sweets at the feast.

Fleur was glad she got to attend the Halloween feast with her new friend. He was an interesting sort of guy even if he did seem to put too much in his mouth at once when eating. Fleur sat down in a chair in one of the corners of the room. Everyone's outfits were amazing and she wondered what the prizes were going to be handed out this year. She thought her and Riley might have a chance at the couple's outfits, but it was hard to tell who was coming with who in the crowded room. She was glad he had been planning on going at the solider to begin with, it just helped her outfit make sense having him there by her side. Fleur looked around, seeing plenty of people in their year but not seeing his sister or the other person he mentioned. She did spy Evelyn with her Slytherin boyfriend Noah. She wondered what Noah saw in the girl, the girl who couldn't even put Fleur on the best dressed list. Shaking her head she turned to see where the Christmas Tree was but couldn't see the person around the room. So many different sorts of costumes it made her wonder if their outfits were too boring. But they were perfect for this year, 100 years after the year and all. "Well things seem to be calming down. I'm thinking of digesting my food elsewhere once they announce the winners of the contest. Do you have plans for this evening, or..?"
