Leia was beginning to think that maybe she should just start asking boys to the dance, because withouth Chrissy, she wasn't interested in asking any of the girls, even if she knew that she did very much prefer girls than boys. It just was probably easier to find a boy to go with than a girl. She'd briefly entertained the idea of asking Kia if she wanted to go, but they were only recently friends and she wasn't keen on jeopordising that just because she didn't want to be on her own for the dance. The slytherin had worn a nice dress, not quite a new evelyn but one of the older dresses from her range. She liked it, it made her feel more mature and adult that ever before. Leia was just stood in the hall, hanging towards the ball of the room, vaguely just taking the beginning of this dance to be watching everyone else.

Kia didn't usually bother with these sorts of things. But she wanted to try and expand her horizons at the school. For a moment, she had thought of trying to find Henry, but that ship had sailed long ago. So instead, Kia... borrowed, some makeup supplies and some heels from some of her roommates. She had spent a few days making the dress out of some spare fabric she'd bought from Zelda. Once she was looking presentable enough, she hurried up to the dance. It didn't take her long to find Leia, and mustering up her courage, Kia managed to approach her. "Hi. You look nice," She offered. It sounded a little stiff, but the small smile Kia tried to give her was genuine.

Leia hadn't been paying too much attnetion around her and then was startled when Kia was suddenly next to her. She glanced at her and then retorted before she could even stop herself. "So do you," she said it like she was returning an insult before she froze. "Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. You look really nice," Leia said with a little somewhat nervous smile. "Are you here with anyone?" she asked.

Kia blinked, surprised a moment at Leia's tone. But before she could respond Leia had corrected herself. Kia was quiet a moment, blinking and processing. "Oh, erm... no, I'm not here with anyone. Are you?" She asked, surprised that Leia wasn't standing with someone now that she thought about it.

Leia hoped she hadn't just ruined their tentative friendship, it would just be her luck that the first friend she'd managed to make in ages was one she immediately ruined. She shook her head too. "Dating is boring," she said, though it was very much a lie, she just liked a girl who was busy and wasn't about too often. "It's much more fun...alone...or with a friend," she added.

Kia nodded, not quite understanding but willing to accept the girls statement. "That makes sense." Kia hesistated a moment. "Are we friends?" She blurted out before she could stop herself, then blushed. Well... that had just happened.

Leia nodded in agreement, before going a loittle still at the question. She looked at Kia and then slowly nodded. "Yeah...if you'd like to be friends...," she liked Kia and was able to talk with her without her getting annoyed so she figured that meant they were friends and really Leia was quite thankful to hopefully have at least one friend at school. The only other one she had was Chrissy and she liked Chrissy as more than a friend and got the freeling that certainly had changed something between them.

Kia was quiet herself a moment, pretending to be watching the crowd. She nodded slowly after several moments. "Yeah... friends sounds okay..." She turned and gave Leia a nervous half smile. "What about we go and get some snacks or something?" She asked, waving to the table.

Leia nodded in agreement, it sounded okay for sure. She was sure that with enough time she'd mess this up but for now she was content just spend some time with her and at this dance. "Okay, let's," Leia agreed and then headed towards the table. "They do usually have good snacks," Leia said.

Kia smiled slightly and followed the other girl. "Do they?" She asked lightly. "I don't usually come to these things, I wouldn't know..." She looked over the assortment of treats. "What do you usually like to get?" She asked, curious.

Leia could not imagine not coming to these dances, even in all the occasions she'd come alone, she'd still always come. "Why not?" she asked curiously. Leia then glanced at the snacks and picked up some muffins. "If these are the same kind as last year they're delicious," they were christmas, so apple and cinamon muffins.

Kia considered the answer, picking up the muffin Leia recommended. Deciding she needed to be a little honest, she picked her words carefully. "I didn't have anything to wear. And no one to be here with." She shrugged, taking a bite of the muffin and closing her eyes, enjoying the taste. "You're right, this is good,"

Leia thought it was a rather dumb answer, because she'd witness people wearing any number of things. Not all of them technically ball appropriate but she decided to let it go for now. She was glad that her pick of muffin had been good at least. "The snacks are very good," she never took that many, since they weren't exactly healthy.

Kia turned, munching her muffin and watching the crowd. "There are a lot of couples here," She commented idly. No one had caught her attention in years. Once she'd fancied Kalif, or even perhaps Riku. But since the mass disappearance of the Styxs', or really anyone she had bothered interacting with, Kia had been left on her own. It didn't surprise her, honestly, and sometimes she thought she was better off that way.

Leia glanced around and nodded. "Well....it is a dance, people do usually come here in pairs," she said, which was perhaps a little sharp way to explain it, but she thought it would be rather obvious that there were couples at a dance like this. "Do you like anyone?" she decided to ask. Leia hadn't been friends with Kia long and perhaps this question was unwelcome but she was asking it anyway.

Kia raised a brow, almost amused by the explanation. She liked Leia, she was blunt and to the point. Kia sipped her drink, shrugging at the question. "Not in a long while," she replied easily. "Do you like someone?" She returned the question, looking to her friend.
