🌹 Rose Giving One for a House Elf

Freddie had never been in the kitchens before, but someone had told him it was a good place to look for Dakrey, so here he was. He knocked on the door and went in. Pretty weird that they were just allowed in the kitchens here, he thought. At his last school, they'd have probably suspended him just for thinking about it. "Excuse me. I need... Dakrey," he said, double checking he'd got the name right. "I need Dakrey."​

At the sound of his name Dakrey appeared in the kitchen with a crack and found a student clutching a rose. "You called for Dakrey young mister?"

Freddie liked being called 'young mister'. He grinned. "Yeah. Someone sent you a rose, for Valentine's Day." He handed the house elf the yellow flower. "Do you know what the color means? Do you know, 'cause it's yellow, what it means?"​

"Oh! Dakrey beamed. He had got a rose the previous Valentines day from Eurydice and he had wondered if she would send him one again. Perhaps it was from her. "Yellow means friends," He nodded at the first year and took the rose which came with a note. Dakrey didn't recognise the outlines of any of the words on the page enough to make out who send it. "Sorry, could you tell me what it says?"

Oh... he couldn't read? Freddie didn't know that. He nodded quickly. "Sorry. Yeah," he said, bending down to look at the note. "It says: Thank you for watch - watching out... Sorry. Thank you for watching out for us. I hope you have - a good - break - too - exclamation mark. And then there's a line, and it says, Amortentia." He stood up straight again. "That's really nice."​

Dakrey could tell as the words were read aloud that it wasn't from Eurydice, which was a surprise because he wasn't sure who else would send him a rose. He flashed a tooth grin up at the first year when he finished the note, ending with Amortentia, who was a friend of Mistress Veronica. "I'm sorry Dakrey doesn't know your name to properly thank you,"
