Jenna liked to think she was open to change, but her life had changed a lot, all at once. She hadn't spoken to her brother since the Quidditch finals last year, and the house had felt strangely empty without him in it. Jenna and Blake had never exactly been close, but it was like she had become an only child overnight. Under other circumstances the attention would have been wonderful, but the silent tension of Dad taking Blake's hockey trophies down from the family display, the strain of facing an empty chair at dinner time, the muffled arguments from Mum and Dad's room Jenna had tried not to hear... it wasn't what she wanted at all.

But it was what it was, and the holidays at least were over. Avoiding her loser roommates kept Jenna out of the Slytherin commons most of the time anyway, so keeping away from her brother wasn't a difficult task. More than ever, Jenna longed for her old school. She had had everything there... friends, power, and pretty much anything she wanted. She was the queen and everyone knew it. Hogwarts was so full of losers none of them even seemed to notice her. But Jenna noticed them. Leaning over a landing high up in the stairwell, Jenna was idly watching kids come by and mentally ranking the tragic holiday haircuts. Emphasis on tragic. Nobody at this school would know style if it bit 'em on the nose.

Lenore was relieved that the holidays were finally over. Getting her shopping done had been a nightmare, as her uncle insisted on help her pick out every single item on her list even though he couldn't do any magic himself and had no idea what he was doing. She was embarrassed to be seen with him by the wizarding public, and he'd taken up all her holiday study time getting her to help out in his shop, but Lenore did feel bad for how she'd left him at the train station with an accusation of trying to make her into a muggle. Everything would have been so much easier if her parents were still alive and could teach her how to be a proper witch so she didn't have to do it all alone.

She had been stewing in her melancholy while she touched up her hair, and now Lenore was finally satisfied it was pink enough. Thank goodness there were potions for that and she didn't have to rely on muggle products anymore. Her charmwork for temporary hair colour changes was spotty at best, and Lenore was not going to leave her dorm room with streaky hair. She wandered the halls in search of something interesting to do, before spotting Jenna. She knew the girl by reputation, but didn't really have a lot to do with the Slytherin. "Is that a mullet?" Lenore leaned over the railing to see what Jenna was looking at, covering her mouth to stifle a giggle. "It looks like he's got a dead animal on his head."

Just as Jenna laid eyes on a particularly tragic hairstyle she heard her own thoughts echoed out loud, snorting with soft laughter in agreement. "Totally bogan." She commented, before glancing to see who had joined her. The girl's pink hair was... pretty nasty in its own right, but Jenna knew an ally when she saw one, and she wasn't stupid enough to say so out loud. "Oh my goddd, your hair is so cute though!" She exclaimed, reaching out to touch it without asking. "Totally bubblegum fabulous, I love it!" She grinned brightly, quietly thinking that maybe if she could get more girls under her wing this year wouldn't be quite so tragic. "I'm Jenna, what's your name?"
