Things had changed a lot for willow over the last eight months. some for good some for the, not great. the obvious difference for willow was that in the past she had taken proud in her body and what it could do how strong, fit, fast, and toned it was. spending as much time eas shedid in the gym. now she didn't feel fit fast or toned. she felt big bloted and slow. howeverdespite this she wasdoing her best to see the pride in what her body could do growing a whole new life inside it. another major change for willow was that with the news of the incoming baby she and Basil had started dating each other officially. much to the non surprise of most of their family. Apparently their flirting was not a subtle as they had thought it had been.
one of the final steps of this speed morph from flirty friends into being a proper family was her moving into his apartment and them both setting up the nursery. it was the obvious move really as good as her flat had been for her cheep, close to work and easy to get to, it would have serficed for them as a couple but was not good as a family home. there was no denying that his place was nicer. seeing as he was paying for it on a pro quidditch wage where as she worked for the government it was a given. the move wasn't really that big of a step, over the last few years they had already been spending more and more time together often spending nights at each others houses.
Willow sat down. she wasnt sure quite how east it would be to get up from the stool she was on but with the pieces of the cot spread around her she needed to work out how to put it together. She was sure the instructions were somewhere close to hand. willow looked at the pieces of wood and screws spotting the direction sheet under a plank she summoned it with an accio. Sure, she could put the thing together with a spell, but she had always loved practical tasks and now she was on paper duty at work eventhis was a nice reprise. besides it always felt sturdyer when put together by hand.
She picked up a screw and one piece of wood before summoning another over to her and attaching them together "how about Sage if it's a girl" she said to basil adding another name to the list of potential names for the baby as he was painting the walls of the room green. Despite being only a month off, it felt weird thinking that what was happening to her was soon going to be another person. who needed a name and a bedroom.

Things in his life had changed quickly- but honestly, it wouldn't be the first, or the last time, if his history meant anything. Basil was a flexible kind of guy. He was secretly pleased that Willow had finally agreed to move in. He'd wanted to just move her in that first night, when she'd told him they were expecting, but he knew better than to try and rush Willow Cullen into anything. And he never minded waiting for her to come around. He was humming under his breath as he painted the nursery, really enjoying the whole earthy vibes they had settled on.

He considered her name suggestion. "Sage is alright, though perhaps not the best- kinda makes me hungry," He joked lightly, chuckling. "Though as Basil I can't say too much." He hummed. "Definitely not a Basil Junior," He tried to think - again - of trees. "Olive maybe? Though also a food. But could be a perfect marriage of the two of us," He teased.

This was not where Willow had expected to be this time last year. In fact, it was somewhere she had pictured and told herself it was something she didn't want. but sometimes the most convincing lies were those you told yourself even if you didn't realise how much of a lie they were at the time. as the last few months passed by she had enjoyed settling into a new life rhythm with basil though she would be a lot happier when the baby came and she could have her body back to herself.
she picked up a screw and the next bit of the cot and started fastening it into place. she chuckled at his thoughts on sage. "i never thought of you as food no matter how good your taste is" she said when he said the name sage made him hungry, if she hadn't been a whale on the floor and if he hadn't been on the other side of the room she would have kissed him to show that she liked how he tasted but she was and he was. "but it does sound like a smart recluse, somehow far too ravenclaw" she said. it wasn't like they weren't smart people but it was more they were more real world hands on smart rather than the book and theory smart sage made her think of. "daisy is sweet. or pansy . for girls. or... umm... why are boys so hard. tuert, Acer, ash or moss for a boy" she said. picking up another screw and lump of pre-cut wood and started to put it together.
she listerend to his theory about an olive being the best marriage of them. "you mean we are bitter, to begin with, but once we have soaked for a while and been giventhe chance to mellow out we are unexpectedly good even if we take a while to get used to" she said teasing basil slightly even though she did think the thery of it was amusing.

Basil chuckled, deciding not to comment on some of her statements at that moment. He just kept on painting, considering the names she put out. "I like Pansy, maybe Poppy? Acer and Moss- Casper has that cousin Asher so it just reminds me of him," He chuckled. "Have you heard any of their music? I forget what the name of the band was- Ashes maybe? Ah, something." He smiled at Willow. "How's your work going?" He tried to figure out where she was at but didn't move to help her, not until she asked. He chuckled at her observation. "That sounds about right. I have time." He gave her a wink.

Willow listened as basil commented on the names. and liked them. "Ash could work as well for either a boy or a girl." she said as he talked about caspers cousin. she had seen him play a few times. there were a good band. . "Yeah it was Ashes. they're a good band. Ive seen them a few times and even opened for them once, it was only a small gig at a pub but it was good. she said thinking back to the time she had been in a band with Sirus way back when she had been in school. she hadnt thought about syrus for years let alon seen him.
she picked up another bit of wood and some wooden dowels that were meant to help hold it together. and shrugged at Basils question. I'm on desk duty still. so not the most exciting of jobs"
she said she looked up and saw the wall. "that looks great. he or she is goign to love it when they arrive" she said putting herh and on the bump just as the baby moved she couldnt believe that she was soon going to be a mum. she wasnt ready but with the last eight months flying by it was getting closer to the day. but at least now she was excited by the prospect especially because she got to share it with Bas. "hey Bas, can you come over here for a second, please?" she asked.

Basil couldn't help it, he'd started humming one of Ash's songs under his breath. He set the paint roller down though as Willow summoned him, moving over to crouch beside her. "Alright, I'm here, what's up?" He asked, giving her a warm smile. He liked being close, and has to resist the urge to nuzzle against her. He made it a point to respect Willow and her space, especially when he knew that she was having issues with her self image and the pregnancy.

It was taking willow time to ajust to all of this. not so much the pregnancy but the being in a relationship and moving in with basil and everyhting that came with it. she knew basil was giving her time and space to adjust and she was very grateful for it. she liked Bas very much, and out of everyone she had ever been with, she was glad that he was the one sho she had ended up pregnant with. She loved him, she really did. but she was just so used to her independence it was taking longer than sheh ad expected to, not give it up exactly but to share it. it was clear Basil wanted more and was, like always, letting her dictate the speed and form of their relationship. she was trying too, to let him in and to believe him when he said what he wanted and not think that she was some how strong arming him into a life as a partner and parent.
One of the obvious ways she could tell at how excited and invested he was in everythg was how quick he put down his roller and was by her side when she asked him to. "can I borrow a hand" she said, nudging her shoulder against his before taking one of his hands and putting it on her tummy "Can you feel it? they're kicking pretty hard," she said, a smile on her face despite the unusual feeling of being beaten up from the inside. "They're going to be a strong one", she said, leaning against him slightly.
