Daintree had thought it would be very important for him to attend the halloween feast, he needed to be active at the school, and that meant at events. Some what frustratingly he knew that a number of his friends would be at the spooky corridor but this was all the more occasion to make new friends and speak to people he didn’t usual speak to. The boy had gotten changed after the event in the corridor into his costume, it wasn’t really much of one. It was the sort of easy costume that he already had all of the parts. He was wearing devils horns and had a red shirt on. A devil was always an easy costume. He liked it a whole lot. The only things he’d got his dad to buy was the devils pitchfork and the horns on his head. The slytherin walked around the great hall. He picked up a drink and a snack as he did so. He was looking for something that he could do. He would find someone to talk to. Or perhaps he could do some of the other things that were on offering during this feast. He would certainly need someone to do those with though.

Last year Tres managed to attend the Halloween event dressed as a large Koala bear, which at the time had been very fitting. This year though, she couldn’t imagine herself trying to climb into some old animal costume and would much rather show off something that suited her, especially if people were going to be looking her way. Tyler may have dented her confidence, but Olivia had resurrected it, and even if Tres wasn’t convinced that everyone thought she was beautiful yet, she was well on the way. She entered the Great Hall dresses as a black fairy, which was a casual black EVELYN dress but came with various accessories that would complete a costume. Hopefully this way, Tres would have the best of both worlds and be able to show off her fashion choices to the other students. The party was already in full flow when the third year made it, and she looked around excitedly for anyone she knew, hoping that someone would want to dance instead of just be boring and sit at the edge. “Hey, Daintree!” She called out, spotting her classmate who was at least standing which was more than could be said for some. Tres hadn’t been there for long and had no interest in the spooktivities but was very happy to move around to the music, “What are you waiting for?” She called out with giggly expression, beckoning him over, hoping that eventually she wouldn’t be dancing by herself and that this encounter would be better than the last one she’d had with a boy.

Daintree was a little surprised as a fairy in black passed him, well, not really, but he looked towards Tres who was beckoning him forward. He didn’t have very many other options and Tres was a slytherin. It was important in his mind to maintain the friendships in his house. That and it would certainly help him given that Tres wasn’t necessarily popular but she was pretty and she seemed to be nice enough, though really, Dain didn’t know her. What he did know was that she was part of the fashion brand that had popped up. EVELYN or something. The slytherin thought for a moment then decided that he wouldn’t really lose anything by dancing with her. He knew it was the first time that he would’ve danced properly with anyone at an event and he was almost pleased it was Tres, "You obviously," Dain joked back. He walked over to her and after a moment of uncertainty began dancing. He was a little stiff in his movements, clearly not very relaxed when he danced - he just didn’t dance that often. He also had only his brother’s idea of dancing in his head and he didn’t think that would work with Tres. But he put out his hand to her, so that they could dance together, he could spin her under his arm and maybe if he was dancing a little more with her, he’d relax a little more.

Tres smiled when Daintree began to edge towards her. She wasn't completely convinced that he meant what he said about waiting for her, but maybe he meant he'd been waiting for someone to join so that he didn't have to be by himself. She didn't know her classmate that well at all, and if history was going to repeat itself as it had done with Tyler; another boy that she'd barely even known, then at least they hadn't nothing to lose. The only thing that would happen is that they could get to know each other better, or they'd find that they would continue not to speak to one another in their lessons. Not everyone liked dancing, and she was glad when he joined in with her, taking his hand gratefully and spinning straight under his arm. "See, it's not so bad." she chuckled, continuing to dance to the music. She wasn't the best at dancing by a long shot, but she'd grown up with elder siblings that would make fun of her, and since 2 out of 3 of those guys weren't even here, she had no reason to worry about it. "You're the devil, right?" she asked after a short while, giving him a look up at down at his costume. It wasn't a bad shout, although maybe if he had done some face paint too, that would have completed the look. "I can help you make it more scary if you want?" she offered, having a bag stuffed full of make up did have its moments. Besides, with so many costumes in the room, it was good to do what you could if you wanted to stand out.

Daintree gave a little shrug, ”You’re not so bad, I’m pretty bad,” he knew she wasn’t talking about his specific dancing, but the situation as a whole, Dain didn’t mind the situation as a whole, Tres was pretty and she had some claims to status within the world, if being part of a fashion brand was as recognised here in magical world as it definitely was in the muggle. Daintree spun her under his arm, and could admit that despite his own stiffness, he was perhaps relaxing a little into it and it wasn’t all that bad. He nodded at her question, ”And you're a fairy,” he would never say, because the same could be said about him, but it was quite a cliche halloween costume, his devil one was quite plain really and being a fairy was common. He frowned a little, ”How would you make it scarier?” he asked her, he wasn’t keen to win the competition, with so many magically enhanced ones and a general lazy attitude towards the event he didn’t really care to do well enough to win. The slytherin just shrugged, ”Do your worst Tres,” he then said, what would it matter, if this helped him look more devil like, if it helped his relationship with Tres, then he’d let her do what she wanted.

Tres giggled at his compliment, although she didn't completely agree, "That's not true. See you're doing it!" she nudged, nodding in relation to her costume. "It helps me to fly," she whispered with a light wink, wishing that it did because really it was a lot more practising than trying to sit on an old stick. The third year pondered his question for a moment, before taking his hand and dragging him across the dance floor and back to one of the seats, where she directed him to sit on the chair next to her, and pulled out a smaller bag from within the one that hung from her shoulder. "I'll show you!" Eager to practise her make up skills on someone that wasn't herself, she quickly got to work, taking the red face paint and dabbing her ring finger into it, began to gently mark out Daintree's features. "Your skin is so warm!" she commented, realising then that it was strange to be touching someone else's face directly, but it was quite nice too actually. "So, you don't dance much huh? Or do you normally just chat to people at parties?" she asked him, curious to know more about her classmate.

Daintree rolled his eyes a little at her, playfully almost in nature. He didn’t think what he was doing could really be classed as dancing, but if she thought it was, he wasn’t going to stop her thinking that he was okay at it, if anything it was maybe helping them to get along. Tres was maybe a little more energetic than he was used to. Certainly in a different way from say Sully or Noel. Dain let the the girl take his hand, unable to stop himself from staring a little at it as she dragged him over to a seat. He sat down and continued to just watch her in silence, especially as she pulled out a small bag of what he had to assume was make up and then began to paint his face red. WHy she had face paints on her, he wasn’t going to question much and just chalk down to it being halloween. He frowned a little when she called his skin warm, ”Thanks?” was all he said in response, unsure as to if that was a compliment, or an insult or just a statement. In any case, he was attempting to not move around too much. At her question though he shrugged, he didn’t really do either. He didn’t always seek out others to speak to, at least not in the past, and he definitely didn’t dance in the past, but he was trying to engage more with people, try more with them, so yes, if a girl asked him to dance he’d say yes. ”We’re getting older, teenagers party right?” was all he said in response, it wasn’t really an answer to her question, but more, an indication that this behaviour was relatively new. ”Can’t stand around in the sidelines forever,” which was more of an indication of how he’d once been at these. ”Do you always carry around face paint or is it just for halloween?”
