Open Not A Dance Person

Lauren doubted if she had to come to the Yule Ball. But after that lesson with Styx things had changed. She had to pretend more and have her lies straight in case people would ask. But she could tell students everything, she figured. And they just had to leave her alone. Lauren sighted and didn't even cared what she wore. Her mother had send a dress obviously, not that she did it for her she actually did it for herself. She just wanted that her children looked good and not like a boy. Her mother always became mad if Lauren had chosen her own clothes. But that card that was into it said it all. She had to wear it and her mother expected a photo. Lauren decided to wear it since she didn't want any more trouble at the moment. And her parents ofcourse thought of the right dress. Her mother knew where her bruises were, so she had chosen the perfect cover up dress. Lauren had tear the card apart in a lot of pieces. She was too mad. Her mother only gave her stuff or attention when she herself got something out of it. Her mother just wanted to act like they were a perfect family and all. But if people knew what happend between those walls they would think otherwise. And that was why Lauren could say nothing. If she would tell people, she was sure they would not believe her. And Lauren was afraid of what would happen to her if she told people. And there was no one that she trusted. The only person she liked was Aonghas, but she ignored him this year. He would think strange of her for sure, if he had heard the eating slugs stuff with Tyler. But he deserved it.

The blonde entered the Yule Ball and directly moved to the food and drink table and took some cupcakes and more food so that her arms where full of them and moved to the side of the hall. She leaned to the wall and went sitting on the ground with the food on her lap. She didn't felt like dancing and started with a cupcake. She looked at the people dancing and sighted. She would not dance tonight. Not in the mood for it. She didn't felt the energy to fake she would like it.

Aonghas felt a little odd about his semester, he wasn’t really looking forward to going home, things would be weird but he knew he would have to. He hadn’t gone home last year, this year he should. The boy had turned up at the yuleball, wearing a casual suit, not willing to make too much effort. However, when he stepped into the hall he spotted Lauren. He didn’t know what was going on with her, but something definitely was. She was acting strangely, not like her usual self. He hoped that it wasn’t just that she had been a certain way towards him and this was just how she was, but he figured that this would be as good a time as any to speak to her. He headed over and waved a little as she approached, noting all of the good in her arms as she sat upon the floor. Aonghas looked down at her and gave a little smile. ”Are ye thinkin’ that if yer on the floor ah willnae try and take the food fae ye?” Aonghas joked as he decided to sit down on the ground beside her and reached out to try to steal a treat from her. ”Ah’ll admit, this is a weird place tae spend a ball, but interestin’,” he didn’t particularly want to force her to talk about it if she didn’t want to, but he though it would be good to try to spend time with her and try to have a little fun. Maybe like him things at home weren’t fun so this yuleball was more like taunt that a fun event. ​

Lauren enjoyed her cupcake with chocolate and looked around. She figured nobody would even notice her like always. But that was not the case. Actually Aonghas did. And it wasn't such a big suprise it seemed, like he was the one person who ever noticed her before. At least who she liked now. And she figured if she thought of it before she would avoid Aonghas, but it was actually nice seeing him and him being with her now. He could sometimes find a way to make her laugh and nobody actually could lately so smiling was nice, and this time actually not fake. '' I figured I could try,'' She than replied. And than took a bite of her cupcake. '' You can grab your own food as well. There is enough.'' Lauren than pointed towards the snack table. And than looked back for a moment. She put up her shoulders not really caring about it. '' I don't like dancing. And I don't like people. So I'm fine.'' Lauren than said on interested. Not that she wanted to scare him away, but she just wasn't a people person these days. She actually also was avoiding Styx and other professors. In case Styx had talked to them behind her back.

 

[Aonghas Fergusson]

Aonghas looked at her as he took one of the pieces of food from her, and then looked towards the snack table, ”Ye know that yer snacks taste better,” he told her as if it were plainly obvious. He knew that something was going on with lauren, even if they were joking and talking as if she hadn’t spent the majority of the semester seemingly ignoring him. Though he knew he hadn’t made nearly enough effort to reach out to her. Not as much as he could’ve, but it didn’t matter, he was sitting with her now. He was a little surprised at her words, he knew that she hadn’t really danced much before so maybe that he should’ve guessed. He looked at her, searching her face for any deeper meaning to the worlds. ”Aye, people are shite,” he replied, thinking that she was an exception to him, her and Katia. He liked them, the rest were always unlikely to understand his life and think harshly on him. ”We dinnae even have tae move, ah’ll summon snacks tae us and we can talk aboot how shite folk are,” the boy told her, smiling and hoping that she might smile too. ”Ye wanna go first?”​

Lauren looked as he took some of her snacks. And she rolled her eyes for a moment. But she could grab more if she wanted obviously. And she brought plenty along with her now for the both of them. Not that she actually had that in mind before sitting here. She grinned shortly at Aonghas. And was glad he agreed on the people thingy. '' Right. Slytherins are the worst. Not everyone but most.'' Lauren than said and thought about Tyler and Agniezka. Those were both stupid. Lauren than nodded in agreement, she would not move from this place and if Aonghas wanted to sit well that was fine. Talking about how people were stupid was now the best. Lauren could show her irritation not about everything ofcourse. She had to be carefull about her dad. Sometime she wanted to tell everything and let it all out, but than she thought of the consequenses it would have. And the fact that no one would ever believe her. '' Gladly.'' She started and she threw away a piece of paper from a snack. She actually wanted to have a banana and eat it and threw it peel on the floor so that someone would slip. That would be funny. Lauren than sighted. '' Styx is the most terrible person in this school. I hate him so much. I heard people saying he is a vampire.'' Lauren than said and thought about the lesson with Styx and that he could read her mind. She would never go to his lesson again. Because she had to think of something else than always. '' What about you than?'' Lauren than said and felt like she hadn't shown interest in someone else in a long time. She felt a bit selfish.

Aonghas was a little surprised by her statement, wasn’t her sister a slytherin, his brother a slytherin. She seemed to say that not all of them were bad, but certainly seemed to think enough of them were to merit the statement. Aonghas found the house system a little frustrating, there had been so much pressure on him to follow the family tradition that it had been singly an important moment and one he would’ve rather not bother with. He ate a few of the snacks that he’d taken from Lauren, and watched as the people ignored them sitting on the floor of the room. He listened to her talk about Styx. He knew that Styx was important, that he was an important pureblood figure. Aonghas could agree though that he wasn’t a very nice person and probably was a vampire. ”Ah hate this ravenclaw girl, she wis english or somethin’ and she said somethin’ that wis like posh and when ah made a tiny joke, she shoved right past me and walked away. Ah’m fairly certain she called me uneducated,” he told Lauren. He didn’t know the girl’s name and couldn’t spot her in the room, but it had rubbed him the wrong way, she wasn’t going to get far with a harsh attitude like that. It would be difficult to put up with and if she spoke like that he wouldn’t be surprised if more laughed at her. ”Anyone else ye hate?” he asked her, perhaps venting a little, eating snacks would be good for them. It would help them. ​

Lauren sighted and finished her cupcake to go to something else. And this time she had a brownie or something. It was easy to say she liked chocolate since it was now in the corner of her mouth. She looked as Aonghas ate from his snack as wel. Aonghas didn't reacted to the Styx thing, but it was hard to believe for Lauren that he liked the man. But she didn't cared. He talked about a ravenclaw girl and Lauren had no idea who he ment. It could be anyone. '' That's stupid. What does she look like? I can teach her a lesson.'' Lauren than said fierce and was these days always in for trouble and especially if someone called someone bad names. She was called herself as well. Lauren than nodded at his question and sighted. '' Well those stupid Slytherins. Tyler and Agniezka or something. That girls name sound like you have to sneeze. They called me crazy and stuff.'' Lauren than said angry. And still felt very bad about that. Not the eating slug thing he deserved that. And she figured Aonghas didn't knew that and led that out ofcourse. Lauren was also mad at 'Gabriella and she noticed her sister dancing with a boy from Gryffindor. She had seen her before with him. Did she actually had a friend after all. And than she noticed her kissing. '' IEHHHHL. My sister.'' Lauren than said disgusted.

Aonghas finished what he was eating and took something else to eat, at Lauren’s reaction to what he said, he couldn’t help the little chuckled, ”Appreciate the offer Lauren, but naw, yer alright,” He didn’t think it would be particularly good if she was going around agreeing to teach people lessons, and not the educational kind, but he appreciated the statement still. He listened as the girl talk about two slytherin that he didn’t know at all. Aonghas didn’t spend a whole lot of time getting to know the other in the year, given that it wouldn’t really matter when he left. He wouldn’t take those friends with him, he’d fall out of touch with them because he’ll have gone so far. He was happy to have Lauren and that was about it for that, Katia was different after all since in theory she might go back with him, but if she didn’t he’d likely want to keep in contact with her too. ”Why did they call ye crazy?” he asked, ”Ye want me tae go teach ‘em a lesson?” Aonghas asked, with a little smirk. Aonghas likely wouldn’t but if she would do it for him, it would be dumb to not do it for her. His gaze shifted to where she was looking and watched the two older students kiss, ”Eh, gross,” was all he said, ”That’s yer sister? She yer only sister?” he decided to asked.​
