New Places, New Faces

[Lillian Sword]

Professor Lillian Sword stood in the doorway surveying her new office. It had been a dream of hers to teach History of Magic at Hogwarts for some years now, and she could hardly belivee that she was actually here. She feared it would be a challenge to align with the rhythm of the school, coming in halfway through the school year - but the change would be good for her, she hoped.

It gave her a little thrill to see this room, with Professor Sword written on the door. The space was bare and impersonal now, with her predecessor's belongings removed, but Lillian hoped to change that with the contents of the boxes she'd laid out in front of the desk, ready to be unpacked. It would take a while before any of this felt familiar, but she could make a start right now.

 

[Ryder Warrick]

A new semester usually meant new professors and the school had an unusual amount of new faces for the middle of the year, at least unusual since he'd been at the school. Ryder remembered how he appreciated having people swing by to introduce themselves when he had just started out so had made a point to do so with every new professor that came after him and it would be no exception. After the professors meeting concluded and Ryder had finished up lesson prep in his office he decided to pop in on the jew History of magic professor. He made his way into the classroom and over to the office and knocked firmly on the door.

Lillian tensed when she heard a loud rapping from directly behind her. So absorbed had she been in planning out the room that it took her a moment to remember she'd been standing with her back at the door, and it was only someone knocking on it. With a wry smile at herself, Lillian turned around and opened the door. She vaguely recognised the man standing before her from the professors' meeting, but there had been so many unfamiliar people there. Lillian supposed she should have expected her new workmates to want to meet her, although she would rather have done so on her own terms, once she was settled. Nevertheless, it was best to grasp opportunities as they were presented. Lillian gave him a warm smile, and offered her hand to shake. "Hi, I'm Lillian."

 

[Professor Matt Alcott-Ward]

It had saddened Matt to see his colleague Professor Styx go, but he was eager to meet her replacement. The two would be working together on the same subject, and he was curious about what kind of person she would be. He had seen her briefly at the professor meeting, but now he decided it was time to introduce himself. Her office was close to his own, so he made his way over quickly. As he walked over, he noticed the door was open and Ryder had beat him to introductions. Matt walked up behind Ryder and waved at the new professor over his shoulder. "Seems like I wasn't the only one who wanted to meet you. I'm Matt, the other History professor."
