New Girl

Eden felt her stomach bubble furiously. Why was it that she could go to a competition and not even worry, but switch schools and be a nervous wreck?! The brown eyed girl was now just relaxing, tired from the trip. In her head she kept wondering why she had to go here instead of Beauxbatons. Most likely because her father went here when he was a kid. Eden yawned and fluffed her hair a bit, and hoped that someone would come over and talk to her. After all, she was pretty shy.

Veronica entered the common room after spending a tiring day practicing Charms with no luck and success. She stinked at the subject and not even Merlin could change that. She took a seat on one of the comfortable couches in the common room and drank some water. She spotted a new face, a girl that looked like her age. She wondered if she was new. "Hey" she greeted with a smile. "You're new right?"she asked her. Veronica knew most of the people in Durmstrangs and she hadn't seen this girl inside the castle before. "I'm Veronica White" she said introducing herself.

Eden looked at the girl beside her and smiled lightly, "H-hi..." She winced a little bit at her stutter, considering she had thought it was long gone. But, apparently she thought wrong. Eden tried to muster enough courage to speak without nervousness, "Yeah... I'm new... Nice to meet you Veronica!" She replied with a smirk, "My name is Eden Rivera... I just transferred here from being home schooled." Home schooling to be frank, sucked. Having her father sit with her in between practices and attempt to teach her history of magic was horrible. But, now she was here and that problem would be solved, "S-so Veronica, how are you?" Eden mumbled, trying to make small talk.

Veronica smiled as she watched Eden try get rid of her nervousness. She was familiar with that feeling and she had seen many go through it, all the new students and the transfer students were nervous when they were new and once they became used to the place they were on the seventh sky. When Eden mentioned that she was being home schooled Veronica swallowed remembering the time when she was almost going to be forced into homeschooling.

"I am good" she said a little unsure of how much truth that held. She had faced a terrible break up and was recovering from that. "I'm a fifth year. What year are you going in?"she asked Eden offering her some cookies from the cookie jar.

Eden saw the jar of cookies and gave a small squeal. As a child she was never allowed any sweets, even if they were organic and somewhat healthy. She gave a brief nod of thanks and took one. She has noticed the girl was somewhat unsure when she said she was okay, so wthout trying to pry Eden smiled, "I'm a fourth year, bit are you alright? You don't seem that okay..."

Veronica was somehow hoping to be classmates with Eden so she was a little disappointed to find out that Eden was a fourth year. Veronica never seemed to place people in the right age since she was so tiny and short herself. She laughed when Eden asked if she was okay. Veronica was getting worse at masking her face and the socializing business that she had started this year wasn't helping a bit in keeping her shield up and masking her emotions.

"Its just the look of someone who has suffered their first break up but that was a week ago" she told Eden with a smile. She was concentrating in her studies and spending time with her friends and ignoring Zac Kuang. "Where are you from?"she asked Eden trying to change the subject.

Eden realized she hadn't asked Veronica what year she was in, but by the looks of it they weren't the same age. She was even more taken back when she found Veronica had gotten out of a relationship just a week ago. Eden tried to mask her surprise, "Well, I wish I could give you advise, but I've never been in a real relationship. I guess I'm just not pretty enough to get a guy, but at least you know you're attractive, right?" Eden added in a grin, then decided to do a flip. Whenever she was really bored, she would just randomly flip. It was an old habit.

Veronica shook her head when Eden said that she wasn't pretty enough to get a guy. "No Eden, you're pretty with a good athlete figure. I'm pathetic at any sport can't even run a mile without stopping, guys don't want people like me" she explained with a smile. She watched Eden to a flip, it was cool. "Wow. You're pretty good at these stuff" she said complimenting her new friend.

Eden smiled faintly, "T-thank you..." No one had ever called her pretty, not that she noticed, so this was a big thing for her, "I can't really do any sports except gymnastics... And come on! Guys want a girl like you 'cause it makes them feel masculine. I doubt they want a girl that can beat them in a fight." When Veronica mentioned her being good at flips, she let out a small chuckle, "I better be good at those by now, after all I started gymnastics at age 3. And I have a borderline nuts coach."

"You're welcome" she said with a smile. She laughed when Eden said that weak girls like her made guys feel more masculine. "Okay maybe thats true" she said not quite sure if that went for all the guys. "But many guys feel pathetic around me especially during games or something" she said remembering the times when the guys didn't want her in a game because she made everything worse and slow and girlish. "Wow, three" she said grinning at Eden. She couldn't get out of playing with her dolls at that age let alone have time to concentrate in anything else.

"...Yeah, I guess it depends on the guy, right?" she grinned and rubbed the back of her head. To Eden, guys were just a big jumble of confusion, "So Why did you and this guy break up anyway?" She half smiled, "I don't know why! I mean you seem nice, did you break up with him?" She covered her mouth, "Oh sorry... I don't want to pry..." Eden went back into her shy little shell, "Oh and yeah... Three... Wasn't fun, but it payed off..." She said with a determined look, "It sucks that I can't practice anywhere though."

Veronica nodded agreeing with Eden that it depended on who the guy was. Every guy was weird in their own way and it was just so hard to analyze them. A little sadness swept over her when she was reminded of her break up but according to Kenneth and Joshua's advice the best way to get over it was to take it casually. "No..its okay" she assured Eden with a smile. "Well, I sort of hurt him without intending to and he couldn't forgive me" she explained not going into the details of her drunkard behavior. She took a deep breath and then added "but I'm starting to get over it now"

"Oh! That's sad" she said when she knew that Eden wasn't able to practice anymore. "Isn't there some way you can practice? I mean space is of course not a matter since the castle is so big...do you need a tutor?"she wondered if that was what Eden meant.
