Chloë was seriously starting to wonder why she was actually trying to deliver a rose to a creature. Let alone one who she was sure wasn't too keen on showing itself to students. If it was, she was sure it would've come up during any of the times Lysander and her had gone to look for it and get a better view of the eel than just its shiny tail. Nevertheless, she still felt like she had some sort of responsibility to at least try and deliver the rose. Even if it was probably the silliest thing she would be doing today. It was definitely funny though, and she had to admit she'd be lying if she said she wasn't enjoying it at least a little bit. Every time she saw the slightest ripple in the water as she waited for any sign of life she wondered whether it was the eel who caused it or whether it was something else.
"Right, I don't know if you're there but I'm gonna do this anyways." She eventually said, her voice still raised but not shouting anymore as she decided she had to do something at some point. She couldn't just spend half of the day waiting by the water for any sign of life. Next to that, she highly doubted the eel would even understand what she was saying if it was close, but she didn't really care anymore. She was going to deliver that rose and after that she was going to make sure her friend knew she had actually done so. Chloë bit her lip for a second, suppressing a laugh as she opened the note to read it again. If she was being honest, she wasn't even that surprised Lysander would think to do something like this.
"Dear eel," She started reading the note out loud, unable to contain her own laughter as she continued. "Happy Valeelntines Day." She continued, shaking her head at the terrible play of words yet emphasizing it nonetheless. "I hope you can find true love down there." Chloë continued, needing a second to pull herself together when she couldn't stop laughing at the fact that she was actually doing this. She hadn't even looked if any other students were closeby, but if they were they'd probably think she was crazy by now. Which she couldn't blame them for, because in all honesty so did she. Nevertheless, she had started so she might as well finish it. "P.S. Don't eat people." She continued reading the note, making sure to call out that sentence a bit louder than the rest of it. "That's a good one, you should remember that!" She laughed, before looking back at the note again. "Oh, yeah. It's signed 'Lysander'. Y'know, we were those kids who came looking for you down there? If you had shown yourself we probably would've just left you alone after." She could understand why certain creatures in the lake weren't too keen on coming to the surface. With so many curious, noisy students around it would likely be hard to find some rest. At the same time she thought that showing itself might just grant the eel some peace. Either way, she folded the note up again, sticking it into her pocket before holding the rose up in the air for a second.
"This is for you yeah? I'm not coming in there so I'll throw it and you can just come get it or something." Chloë called, still thinking she was a little bit crazy for doing what she was doing. This was by far the funniest things she'd do today though so she couldn't exactly be mad about it. As she threw the rose she was a little disappointed to see it didn't even get that far, she had expected it to get at least a bit further. Being a chaser and all. Then again there was a world of difference between a rose and a quaffle. Mainly in weight. She was sure the water would carry it a bit furter away from shore anyways, and she figured she could stay for a little while longer to see if it would.
