Lennon had just acquired an old camera from his grandparents for Hanukkah so he was eager to try it out. The Ravenclaw didn't know what to start taking pictures of to practice on. He was feeling a little overwhelmed, but he thought taking nature of landscape photos would be a good place to start. He headed out to the Great Lawn and took a seat against a tree where he had a good view of other trees and begin to snap away after a few moments of fiddling with the camera. Then he saw a patch of wild flowers on the ground and began to try and arrange a few multicolored rocks around the patch of flowers to create a nice scenery. He saw a rather large, nicely patterned rock and wanted to use it in the shot but it seemed to be half buried in the ground. He began to dig around it to pry it loose with his wand, half afraid he might snap it with the force he was putting on it.

Xavier was on one of his standard strolls through the great lawn when he heard rustling in a nearby set of trees. He was supposed to spend his free afternoon by the lakefront, but the sound had peaked his curiosity so he stopped his steps and turned in the direction the sound was coming from, then ventured forward to the trees so he could discover the source of the noise himself. When he got closer he saw the person he knew as Zara's brother, Lennon, attempting to dig a rock from the ground with his wand. Xavier immediately stepped closer to interrupt the other boy. "Uh, hey. You shouldn't be using your wand for that." He said, continuing to step closer to the rock. "Here. Let me help." He waited for the boy to stop his actions before kneeling in the dirt, digging his hands next to the rock and lifting it from the ground with all of his might. When the rock was moved from its spot, Xavier's shoulder's relaxed as he looked towards Lennon with a smile on his face. "No point breaking your wand when your hands can move the rock easier." He said.

Just when Lennon was about to give up and instead use his wand to magick the rock out of the ground, he heard someone talking to him, telling him he shouldn't be using his wand. Lennon looked up and saw a boy he'd seen in his Care of Magical Creatures class before and chuckled a little embarrassed, nodding in agreement. Then the boy bent down and pried the rock loose and Lennon smiled. "Thanks! My mum would've killed me if I snapped it," he laughed lightly. "Especially if she knew it was for trying to poke a rock out of the ground for a stupid picture," he added, raising his camera in explanation. The rock had reflective scale-like details on it so it had been too pretty to abandon his efforts to retrieve it.

Xavier dusted his hands together, attempting to rid them of the dirt as he looked to Lennon and smiled. "You're welcome." He didn't know the boy was a photographer, nor that he was interested in taking pictures of the outdoors. But he was curious to find out more and nodded to the rock he'd moved for the other boy. It was detailed and exceptionally pretty for most of the rocks around the school grounds, so he understood why Lennon would consider it photo worthy. "Is that the only rock you're taking a photo of?" He asked, both curious to know if the boy was taking photos of other rocks in the area, and if he needed to help the boy dig up more of them. Though Xavier knew Lennon was in Ravenclaw, and could assume the boy was smart, the last thing he would have waned was guilt on his shoulders if he left now, and allowed Lennon attempt to break his wand again while searching for other rocks. Nothing was worth breaking a wand over and he more was happy to help again. If not to keep himself from feeling guilty, to hopefully make a new friend. Xavier did not know many other boys in his year and running to Lennon that day seemed like the perfect opportunity to change that.
