This was the night of Micah's night, the time to make a good impression, though he wasn't exactly sure how he was to do so in the ridiculous costume that Sofia had picked out for him. The boy was starting to wonder if the costume party was such a good idea. He wasn't sure why he had agreed to it, there was the fact that he thought Sofia Valente was the most gorgeous girl that he had laid eyes on, but she was lebanese, lesbian, was that the word? After agreeing to pose as her boyfriend at the Yule Ball he seemed to dismiss that would have any feelings for him, especially after his friends at Beauxbatons had told him that she liked girls, not boys. Micah did not give up that easily though, he refused to believe she had invited him to this party merely as a friend, especially after he had began to research the characters that Sofia had chosen them to play. Micah was portraying the Melchior Gabor to Sofia's Wendla Bergman. she had informed him of what he had to wear, told him they were from the musical "Spring Awakening" and obviously expected him to the reference. Micah had tried for her, tried to sit through the whole musical. He had managed to make it to the kiss, and had been confused that Sofia would pick two characters who were obviously romantically involved, but he did not question it. Instead he had put on the scratchy costume, but chosen not to wear the shoes that were part of it, and instead slip on his beat up black converse sneakers and with one degrading glance in the mirror and adjustment of his suspenders, Micah Harrison was ready to go and get his girl. Her apartment was far from where he was used to being, the bright lights of New York did not agree with the boy who had been raised on Stuart Island, New Zealand. So standing outside her lavish apartment he seemed out of place.

Ruffling his hear, Micah looked down at the crumpled note paper and double checked the address, it would be considerably uncomfortable to be greeted by somebody not in a ridiculous constume similar to his own. With his sleeves rolled up he figeted as he rang the bell, and thankfull shortly after Sofia answered, in her costume. Micah inhaled deeply and blinked, she looked more beautiful than ever before. And he would be lying if he said he didn't think the short and almost transperant white dress had his heart beating faster than he thought possible. "Uh, hi." he seemed to stumble over his words and his cheeks blushed red a little as he did so. "Shall we, ah, go?" he asked, she knew where they were going, so he hoped she would lead him in the right direction. Swallowing his thoughts, Micah walked with Sofia and tried to smile through his nerves, he really liked this girl, it was just a shame she was not into boys. But this still seemed so odd to him, with the character she was dressed as so he summoned the courage and tried to pull her up on it. "You do know what our characters, well, do together, don't you?" he asked her, not knowing what he was really saying, as further in the musical the characters engaged in sexual intercourse, though long before then Micah had lost interest. He looked over at Sofia as he asked the question, still walking along towards their destination. His converse high top sneakers scuffed along the floor, and he hoped she would not be too upset with him for wearing them, as they were the only pair of shoes he had and he felt comfortable in them so they were the easy choice for him as a male.

"Fue bueno saber de ti," Sofia hung up the phone, her voice a little chilly despite her words. Why, of all the days in the last two months, did her father have to call now, when her stomach was already in knots? She hated phone calls like those, they were always so uncomfortable. Not.. painful, but.. It hurt, knowing that the closest you got to your family was a few awkward words. There was no familiarity over the phone, no hugs, just the recitation of what you had eaten for lunch that day and who you had a design meeting with the next. Sofia didn't know why, but these phone calls always left her in tears. Luckily this time the stinging in her eyes receded, though the nervousness increased by the minute. She set about distracting herself, by getting ready for the costume party being thrown a few floors up. It had said 'plus one' on the metallic invitation, so she'd asked her good friend Micah. Or at least she hoped that they could be friends. The two had agreed to play boyfriend and girlfriend at the Yule Ball, it was a mutually beneficial decision. He got to impress his friends, she got to stop the rumours. It had been a successful set-up, but Sofia still spent most of her free time alone in her dormitory. She didn't expect anything different, though, solitude didn't bother her. The arrangement had duly come to an end, and she couldn't help but wish it hadn't. Sofia wanted to hold his hand again like they had walking into the Great Hall, to feel safe instead of cold and alone. It had all been an act, of course, but there was a sincerity between them that she just couldn't shake off.

Sofia's dark, waist-long waves flew about as she rushed to the door. She didn't want to keep Micah waiting, but paused to take a breath before opening it. She would admit to feeling a little self-conscious in that short dress and knee socks, but it was her own fault for choosing such a costume. To be honest, Sofia couldn't even justify her reasons for doing so. Was she trying to give some sort of a hint, or sign? A creepy musical suggestion? No, she wasn't that desperate. Maybe it was a way of saying 'Hey, this is what I'm into. What about you?', or maybe the Beauxbaton had just been watching Spring Awakening a bit too often. Clutching at the door, a smile spread across her face. "Hi Micah, Sofia managed, noticing how his sneakers matched her own scuffed flats. She had never been too good at maintaining things, it didn't seem he was either. "Yeah, let's take the elevator," she nodded, indicating along the hall, the same one he had probably taken to reach her floor. But then again, maybe he was big on walking, maybe that was why his shoes were always so worn. There was still so much they didn't know about each other. "It's just a play, we don't really have to sleep together!" she said a little more hurriedly than necessary, diverting the subject before a faint blush rose to her cheeks. Sofia wasn't usually the type to show embarrassment, but her ability to control any emotion around Micah was limited, to say the least. Maybe, if she was lucky, he wouldn't pick up on it. "So um, did you enjoy it? I freaking love Lea Michele," she announced, not aware of how else that comment could have been construed. Pressing a finger to the gold 'up' button set into the wall of the hallway, Sofia tried to look at Micah through her brown hair. He probably didn't know it himself, but those suspenders really did look good on him.
