It was the night of Yule Ball. Pretty dresses and dashing tuxedos decorated the grounds of the Great Hall. Alexis arrived there in her new dress sent by her mom the night before. She came there to enjoy the festivites and take a break from the recently finished exams. She looked around, trying to spot some familiar faces, both classmates and from her own house. She saw some of them, apparently waiting for dates. Not Alexis, though. She came without a date and would be free to spend the night with anybody she felt comfortable with. She was about to head inside the Hall when someone called her name from behind her.

Nixon arrived to the yule ball a while ago, and chose to occupy his time before his date arrived by walking around and reveling in the sights and sounds. Christmas themed decorations and music had taken over what was usually the bland great hall and Nixon understood why many of the older students believed the night was so important. In the midst of looking around, Nixon managed to leave the hall, before turning back when he realized the decorations did not go out further around the school. As he made his way back to where the festivities were, the Hufflepuff spotted the familiar silhouette of his friend Alexis. He quickly called her name and sped his walking to a jog to catch up with her. "Alexis!" He slowed to a stop when he reached the Ravenclaw and smiled.

The familiar voice already made Alexis smile even before turning around. She saw Nixon slowing down to a stop beside her.He seemed to see her from afar and jogged down to catch up with her. She returned his smile,"Hey Nix!" greeting him at the same time giving him a brief hug. "You look great!" as she looked at him clearly, different from the time they first met."Are you here on your own?",she asked, half hoping that he was so that they could enjoy the festivities together.

Nixon returned the hug Alexis gave him, squeezing her tightly before pulling away and continuing to smile at her compliment. It meant a lot to him that someone thought he looked good and confirmed that the effort he had made to feel like he belonged at the yule ball wasn't in vain. Instead of gushing at the compliment however, Nixon instead brushed it off and sent a compliment back to his friend. "Pssh you look better! Love the dress!" He exclaimed. When Alexis asked if he was alone, Nixon shook his head. "I'm here with my friend Frankie. One of the older students said it was uncool to go to the ball alone and you know me, I always need to be cool! I'm the coolest." He answered, half joking. "Are you here with anyone? If you want you could always hang with Frankie and I, we're likely going to raid the snack table." He said, hoping that the invite to join them was welcomed. Alexis was a popular person, or seemed to be popular so he assumed she would have better things to do. Though that did not mean he couldn't at least invite her to join him and Frankie.

Alexis appreciated the gesture when Nixon returned her hug enthusiastically. She, however, laughed when Nixon brushed off her compliment although it was obvious that he was flattered by the compliment. No longer than two minutes though when her friend returned the compliment to her. Alexis even turned and gave a comical bow as a joke. "Thank you, kind sir.", she said with a laugh. Alexis found out that he was actually here with Frankie Tillington. She was also in their year, a Gryffindor and seemed like a friendly girl. She still had to meet her personally, though. "That's great. And to set the record straight, you are already cool.", she truthfully commented, softly bumping the Hufflepuff by her shoulder.

When Nixon asked her whether she came alone, she nodded with a fake sad look in her face. She burst out laughing after a few seconds, her cheeks blushing from all the jokes they had shared."Yeah, unfortunately. I am not popular like some people I know.",her finger in a gun form pointing at Nixon. Yet, at the mention of snack table, Alexis brightened up. "I'd love to. As long as there are scones we can share.",pertaining to the scone they split the first time they met."I'd catch up with you guys later, though. I would love to see the dancing and maybe dance to a song or two_Or maybe I could sing a song...", she trailed off, remembering that nobody knew that she could actually sing. "Save a dance for me, will you?", she requested with a smile, hoping Nixon wouldn't notice her slip up.
