It had been a few years since graduation, and probably much to the annoyance of Sydney Townsend, Ren and Samantha were still going strong. They were going out on regular dates, talking to each other almost daily. Ren honestly couldn't imagine his life without Sam in it. He'd been slow about it, of course, but eventually he'd decided that it was time for them to take things further, to be wed, to have a home and maybe someday a family. It had taken him some time to get things together though. Instead of buying Sam a ring, he'd made her one. It had taken over a year of classes and he'd spent gods knew how long on the ring itself, but it was finally done.
So, he'd invited Sam over that night for a date. It was their usual- simple, sweet, comforting. They'd curled up in the hammock in his room, wrapped up in a lush blanket with plenty of pillows to support them. Bouquets of her favorite flowers were scattered across the room, along with plenty of lightly scented candles. A movie screen was projected on the ceiling, and Sam had been snuggled in against Ren for a good while now.
As the credits began, and a lovely song came on, Ren decided now was the time. "Sammy, I have a question for you." He murmured. He took the ring out of his pocket, picking her left hand up from where it sat on her chest, and just slipped it on her ring finger, smiling softly. He brought her hand to his lips, pressing a soft kiss to the ring where it sat on her finger.
