Contrary to popular belief, the Ravenclaw common room was not a quiet place to be. On a regular day Ferdinand didn't mind the hustle and bustle of young minds, it was a thought provoking environment that always kept him entertained. However today Ferdinand felt like a change of pace. He wanted to get away from such a distracting place and think to himself and in a room full of other thinkers, that was nearly impossible. In a desperate attempt to find nothing to do, he managed to stroll to the edge of the forbidden forest in search of a tree to climb. That was simple right? Climbing a tree, sitting on a branch all day and doing a whole load of nothing. He loved the idea, but knew a professor could spot him easily where he was. Weirdly that was also part of the fun. He didn't want to think and that meant he wasn't going to figure out a less obvious place to climb a tree. If he wanted to get technical about it, he wasn't actually in the forbidden forest. Simply skimming the edge as he continued his search. No harm, no foul. In his eyes no rules had been broken yet.

Ferdinand eventually gave up and turned back. The trees here were far too tall, too difficult for somebody so inexperienced with tree climbing. He stopped when he reached the path leading back to the school and sighed. He always liked to keep himself busy, always a typical busy body that couldn't sit still on most days, once in a blue moon did he ever want to waste his time with nothing. Picking up a pebble from the ground, Ferdinand threw it as far as he could. He wasn't unfit because he played soccer when he was home, though he wasn't athletic either. If he were more athletic, he wouldn't have needed to give up and that realization annoyed him. At this point he kind of wanted to just go back to his dorm and spend his time with something productive, working on an article for HM or finishing some homework, but he also wanted to stay and waste time. He wasn't sure yet, though as he contemplated the thought he continued to pick pebbles from the ground and throw them. For now he had nothing better to do.

Caroline Beckett was tired of being cooped up in the castle, doing nothing but school work. It had been a busy week in all of her classes, and she knew it was only going to get worse as they neared exams. The piles of homework that she had been given sat unattended on the top of her trunk in the Gryffindor dorm. The sunshine outside her window had been too enticing. The weather outside was still going to be chilly, but Caroline knew the sunshine during this time of year was something to appreciate. She could hear it calling her name as in poured through the window. Caroline had made a quick decision to abandon her homework in favor of the outdoors. The blonde girl grabbed her coat as she left the dorm.

The Gryffindor girl made her way through the castle, seeing very few people, until she reached the front steps. She pulled on her jacket as she made her way outside. Her light grey eyes morphed into a blue that matched the sky as she gazed up at it happily. Caroline took her time as she made her way through the gardens and across the lawn. Eventually, her walk took her next to the cliffs and then the forbidden forest, both places she probably shouldn't be caught in if she ever wanted to make Prefect, but following the rules was overrated, or so she had learned in her last four years at school. She was a very different person from the timid, shy girl she had been when she first arrived at Hogwarts. Lost in her own thoughts, Caroline didn't realize she had walked into the line of fire of small pebbles until one struck her. "Ouch." she said, startled. Her eyes darkened, turning back to their natural light grey color as she looked around for the reason for the pebble.

It took a while before Ferdinand could turn his mind off for a minute. Through repeated actions of picking up pebbles and throwing them far away, he eventually managed to think about nothing. It was a welcome change. An overactive mind was a great thing, but was alternately exhausting. The Ravenclaw managed a small smile, glad to find temporary relief from the thoughts that usually hazed his mind from the outside world before they came rushing back. Many things had been playing his mind lately, Kelsey was one of them. Until recently he knew her as a friend; a confidant in every possible way. But knowing her as a girlfriend was an entirely knew feat that he still had no idea how to conquer. He had managed to successfully wing the role of boyfriend so far, but assumed that sooner or later he would fall short. For the first time in his life Ferdinand knew nothing and one of his closest friendships was on the line. There was a large opportunity for failure, how could he recover if he managed to screw it all up? Was that even possible?

Lost in his mind as per usual, he didn't notice a girl walk into range of one of his pebbles until it already hit her. "Merlin." He exclaimed before approaching the girl. This was just his luck. Only he could lose himself in his mind long enough to accidentally hut somebody. Smiling sheepishly, he scratched the back of his head and apologized. "Sorry about that." He began to explain himself. "I wasn't looking where I was throwing things. Are you okay?" There wasn't much else he could do besides apologize and make sure she wasn't seriously hurt. A pebble was practically harmless, barely a worry. Though he remembered reading once that anything could cause serious harm if it's harsh enough. He had been throwing those pebbles rather violently, and didn't want to take any chances. All he could do was ask if she were okay and hope for the best.
